Jesus Loves Goths: Bible Study for Metal Heads 

I’m an ex-witch. I was a lost, scared, suicidal goth girl from a scary past. Then I found my creator, God; and I accepted Christ as my saviour and king. Now I’m a very happy, healthy, level-headed goth woman; and my past does not matter since God lifted that burden.

God loves us all, regardless of the costume that we wear. Remove the worldly adornments and you're left with the soul- that is what God loves and cares about.

The Gothic person can have even more faith in God because he/she went through the good and the evil and see the difference clearly and better than a normal person.

I’m Catholic and I wear mostly band shirts, khaki dickies, jeans, all Black doc martens. I go to local shows all the time and listen to any band if their good. If before anything you identify with your faith and it’s teachings, nothing will lead you astray if you really believe in your faith.

The Gothic, Metal, and Punk subcultures are music based, not defined by worldview and belief. I'm a Christian and been a Goth for decades. Keep in mind, God, as creator, created night, the moon, the stars, bats, spiders and all the lovely things Goths enjoy...including the ability to hear lol its a celebration of the uniqueness of our creator.

My aunt would always ostracize me for being Goth AND Christian “You can’t hold two flags” she’d always say as an analogy. Well, watch me.

you don’t actually have to pick sides, i was born and raised christian and im a believer to this day and throughout my teenage years i really loved metal and punk music and often felt conflicted since a lot of the bands i liked mentioned things i knew were against my beliefs as a christian but i still enjoyed the sound of these bands and it actually made me grow in faith more since on one side i was religious and on the other i knew i enjoyed music that was often anti religion but still managed to keep my beliefs and not follow the rest. and there’s also a plenty of bands that don’t necessarily use satanic symbolism etc. music is music - it can be powerful if you let it be. you can also enjoy it for the sake of the sound, you don’t have to automatically follow the entire mindset behind it

I've always liked metal, but as I'm maturing and growing older... I find that I'm growing closer to conservatism and religion, and metal/goth at the same time. Maybe its because nowadays, both of those things are aligning more and more with "rebel" compared to society, and deep down I'm an individual...?... this will take more thought.

I absolutely love this .It really shows that anyone can believe in God .It doesn't matter what you dress like or what type of music you listen to. All that really matters is your message.

I remember my days as a Muslim, I would always listen to black metal and music that would blaspheme Christ (the spirit of Baal) was always with me. Then I became a Christian and I suddenly stopped liking this stuff, I like industrial music but I wouldn't listen to a song with blasphemy, in the same way Satanists wouldn't listen to gospel music.

Goth and the metal scene is different.. I mean they’re dark but different. Goth came out of the punk scene. Besides the music scenes bottom line God loves everyone.

I was a Church of Satan follower (not member) and the only thing I knew of Christianity was Mormonism and Catholicism, I did not know the God of the Bible. As a teen I was heavy into the Goth seen (long before it was popular, in the late 80's) and into the occult and everything dark. By that time I was in my 30's I was attending AA because I had a drinking problem. There, I stopped being a Satanist. After I was sober for a year, I accidentally found biblical truth while looking into all types of regions, and Christianity grabbed ahold of me because it was the only one that was different. It wasn't works based, like Morminism and Catholicism, like I thought it was, andlike every other religion was, it was the only one that convicted me of sin, rather than telling me to pick myself up, it broke me down. Once I knew I was guilty, I begged for forgiveness and believed. I was Born again. Now, the only music that I listen to is made by Christians. I listen to Lacey Sturm - she dresses goth I guess, lol, but her words show me that she is born again like I am. I only dress like a regular person because the bible tells me to avoid the appearance of evil. So I do. If Jesus died for the sins of a wretch like me, than he died for you too! Compare yourself to the 10 commandments, in light of what Jesus said: If you have looked with lust, you are guilty of adultery in your heart. If you have hated someone, you have committed murder in your heart. If you have told a lie you cannot untell that lie and you are a liar, if you have stolen anything, you are a thief. You cannot undo these sins, we are all guilty of them. The wages of sin is death. You deserve death, we all do. But the gift of God is eternal life. Realize that you are guilty and no longer want those sins on you and want to power to not do them anymore. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is God and can forgive you of your sins, He died for those sins on the cross, the forgiveness is free for all who will believe and call upon His name. Do this very next time you are alone. Realize, Repent, Confess, Beleive. He will forgive you if you are honest and sincere, and the Holy Ghost will come and live within you and you will be born again.

I consider myself somewhere along the lines of atheist/sceptic/agnostic, but this is cool. As for Slayer, Tom Araya is a catholic. You have to understand the meaning behind their texts.. Ive been a metal listener since early 20s. Nowadays I lean more towards gothic music, such as Bauhaus, Joy Division, Siouxsie and the Banshees, clan of xymox, etc, but Im also a huge fan of Dio, and I occassionally still listen to metal

I think Christians are reclaiming our history. When you look at all those gothic cathedrals and monks in robes, castles, candles dimly lighting stone walled monestarys, knights in armor, all that stuff is literally christian stuff. Its not evil. It wasn’t created by atheists or pagans. It was created by Gods people. The Bible is VERY metal. And its also very hippie, and its goth. Its Loving, conservative, Metal, Goth, Flower Power, all rolled into one. And much more. The moment you accept Christ is bliss.

There was a lot of satanic imagery in this video, so I’m questioning what the message is. As a former Satanist and avid death metal head, I’m not sure they were totally conveying the right message. It seems like they were saying one thing but presenting another. Skulls are not associated with God or anything good. I’ve never been into gothic music, but I like the style of clothing and home decor. Leave anything demonic out if your life, and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Wearing black is a beautiful thing.
