@@allengruszka5207 Remember, the father tells us in Zechariah 4, not by strength, nor by might, but by my spirit will you move mountains. Doesn't mean we don't defend ourselves, cuz the dragon makes war against us. 6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts. 7 Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it.
"The lion will lie down with the lamb; there will be no more killing or destroying; and the voice of weeping will be heard no more." Beautiful words. How could one not want to believe in such a hope as Christ's Return? 🙏❤️
I like the fact that you who posted this left the screen blank for over two minutes in silence at the end. Time enough to digest the words of the Savior and consider that which is truly meaningful. We need such things more than ever these days. Take care, Rolland
Barabbas and the Zealots represent a lesser consolation of a violent political uprising against tyranny . Jesus is the Great consolation that transforms the heart forever and gets to the root of the problem - Man's seperation from God .
I agree! Judas and Barrabas were blind to the messianic prophecies on Jesus as the Passover Sacrifice. Maybee if they were living in our times they may have not been in error. Jesus is coming back as a Lion of Judah which is opposite from sacrificial lamb. As the Lion of Judah, he will defend the Jews from their enemies and proceed to set up his thousand-year millennial kingdom of peace on earth.
@@kasmot1978 In that pray we are asking God to judge us by the same standard we use to judge others. And yes,if we forgive those who persecuted us God will forgive us,too, with that mercy.
Jesus is the forgiveness and atonement that lives within you. He is the living word of God. Love your enemies. They need it the most. Your enemies are the parts of your mind that elicit the greatest ego reaction in you. Therefore, these shadows need the greatest love to be turned around. That’s why he went to the sinners first- it’s for the quickest spiritual awakening to go straight to the shadows of the world and shine the light on them. Love everyone. Watch this scene and you will understand he is within your heart. Barabas represents the ego grievances and vengeance within us, but Jesus represents the love, light and Holy Spirit that teaches and lives within our hearts. Follow him within...that’s why the kingdom of heaven is within.
The reason this meeting is portrayed in Jesus of Nazareth (a masterpiece) is so that you understand that there was one who got away. That one continued his ways. He murders a guard, is imprisoned and ends up standing trial and due to the passover is offered as a sign of benovolence by the Romans but only one can live. Barabas is released and Jesus is not. Violence triumphs. Violence takes Jesus life and the Romans scourge him, mock him, crucify our Master and put him to death. As he told us and as Simon Peter explains later, we all abandoned him. He was and is the way, the truth and life. We all abandon him at some point in our meek lives. So our World is lost without him and that path to a resurrected life to God. Resurrection Sunday gives us and indeed every day gives us that opportunity to change and to follow him for the rest of our lives. Thus he sends us the Holy Spirit to guide us to give us that channel to God.
yes the best line Jesus Christ says to Barabbas at this movie and says in the gospel, love your enemies, forgive those who used and persecute you, the days of forgiveness is at hand, it just shows us, the children of God not to take vengeance on our enemies, that is not our role, that his role, to take vengeance who persecute his children.
Beautifully said! I love it! Our prayers need to be that others come to see this truth, we have all been in that place of running away and thinking we know how things need to be handled or how they should go. God does not think the way we do, the ways of heaven are opposite to human thinking.
Romans 12.19 (KJV) 19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
while we wait for that day to come our people live in morning and lamentations!!! i mean barabas in this scene wants to do exactly what Jesus will do on his return ... but meanwhile we must endure and forgive cause vengeance is the Lords
You are love itself. Love holds no grievances. If you hold grievances (Barabas) you are attacking love (Jesus), and therefore attacking yourself (crucifixion). I am determined not to attack my Self today, so that I can remember Who I am.
Our Lord did not come to earth to defeat the Romans, rather he came into our presence to defeat our greatest foe...Satan and death of sin as long as we pick up our crosses and follow YESHUA THE CHRIST! KING OF KINGS! LORD OF LORDS! HALLELUJAH! HALLELUJAH! HALLELUJAH! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN!
You deserve death, you don't deserve forgiveness and yet Jesus is ready to forgive you. So who are you to not want to forgive your neighbor ? You are no less guilty than them. Think about it and you will see, you will be quicker to forgive.
Even here, you can see the love in Jesus' eyes for Barabbas, how he's explaining that he didn't come to save them from the Romans or any earthly government, but that he came to save them from a far greater enemy. It's sad how Barabbas could not understand that, blinded by his own hate for the Romans, wishing only vengeance with violence.
Because the agenda of Barabbas is so worldly just like the rest of the Jews and Pharisees thats why they missed out the Messiah. They thought that the prophecy is about a king who would thwart away the Romans and bring back Israel's old glory.
What people don't know is Barabbas first name is also Jesus Barabbas. Matthew 27:17 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) 17 So after they had gathered, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release for you, Jesus Barabbas or Jesus who is called the Messiah?
No, actually his name was Samuel who wanted to be like Jesus but a Jesus of the sword, and he took on the name Jesus Barrabus. You could read about it in the book The greatest story ever Told.
Gave a lot of time to Barabas but he lived by the sword, very interesting listening to both sides, I was thinking Wars & bloodshed happening right now could be avoided if only we understood
even in the last moments, God invites us all to the wedding. and we still understand nothing. wake up you all, my brothers and sisters. it's the only way. i love you all. not only christians, but REALLY ALL.
How do we forgive someone who is not remorseful or sorry for what they have done , how do we become as strong as christ , we are not christ we can only try to be like him. I dont like to question the word of the lord , but id like to ask if someone does not repent and truly has evil inside with no remorse , how do we as human beings forgive that?
Is that Aram (Donald Sumpter) who said "he's there" at 0:08? If so then the other man following Barabbas is Jobab (Pino Colizzi) meaning barabbas's main cohorts were the two thieves. The way he says he sounds like he doesn't believe Jesus is the Messiah and he feels like barabbas is wasting his time. In the centurion scene when barabbas says "your orders are changed" that same man has the look that barabbas came to his senses. The only thing that gets me then is when barabbas is in jail and says, "I don't belong in here with those two, I'm a patriot", that's a silly thing to say about your right and left hand men.
I dont think they are the same actors as the two thieves. But from a historical opinion I have, yes the two "thieves" were with barrabas in inciting a revolt in Jerusalem during the passover as described in the Gospels.
In 66 AD the Zealots did "meet the sword with the sword" in a rebellion-war against the Romans. But it was an utter disaster. By 70 AD many thousands of Jews had lost their lives and the Jerusalem temple was completely destroyed.
Almost a million Jews die in the revolts, event until the final battle at Masada. If they knew how it would have ended, maybe the could have endured roman rule.
This is before barabbas was arrested. The Bible doesn't record a conversation between them. It's possible they met before barabbas was arrested but as far as we know they only met when pilate offered the choice of releasing one of them.
You can't take scripture at face value because the Church Fathers and Councils possibly edited and omitted anything that went contrary to their own political beliefs just as the corporate mass media does today--they edit, omit, spin, etc facts and reports to fit a corporate agenda. Besides, we all know just how corrupt the Catholic Church is......think critically.
Not that I can recall, the only mention of Barabas was that he was the one that was condemned to die at the same time as when they arrested Jesus and it was tradition to let one man go so they let go Barabas, and his full name was Jesus Barabas. I always thought that was strange that they both had the same first name.
This scene does not take place in the Bible. However, it doesn’t contradict anything that Jesus taught or said in the scriptures, and Apostle John even says that there are many other things Jesus did that he did not write down. So having this scene is okay. As long as Jesus’ message is accurately conveyed, it’s fine.
Ezekiel 18:23-27 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live? But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die. Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal? When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die. Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.
Peace and blessings! It doesn’t show this conversation in the Scripture. The lion and the lamb was referenced in the Book of Isaiah. Just a gentle reminder to confirm with the Holy Bible. God bless!
@@johntom5921 Well I'm not sure if we have done good or bad then by reaching nearly the entire world with the gospel over the last 11 years. We may be partly responsible for the Lord's near return. I just hope the world is ready... honestly, I don't believe it is. I believe we've got a lot more work to do and a whole lot more people to reach!
Everyone needs salvation here are the words of salvation please forgive me jesus im a sinner come into my heart and save me from my sin I no that you are the savior and I no that you died for me on calvary and I no that God raise you from the dead and you are alive and I thankyou for your salvation in Jesus holy name amen and its important to always ask for forgiveness every night and hope you come in my email im grateful
Isaias Ch 11: "Wolf shall live at peace with lamb, leopard take its ease with kid; calf and lion and sheep in one dwelling-place, with a little child to herd them! Cattle and bears all at pasture, their young ones lying down together, lion eating straw like ox; child new-weaned, fresh from its mother’s arms, playing by asp’s hole, putting hand in viper’s den!"
The wolf seems to be the preachers in church. Lying about God, feeding the flock the comforting lies they desire. But we all go the same way in the end. To death.
@@zvonimirtosic6171 Sounds wonderful, but......humans will murder them all! None are spared! As we are now doing, slaughtering 60 billion land animals and birds and trillions of sea life--for personal pleasure and profit. Species are all threatened with extinction as humans continue to breed unchecked and invade remaining habitats and causing conflicts. One example: think of Cecil, the lion's murder, for a trophy! That said, I have a soft spot for Jesus of Nazareth ONLY. Wish I knew him then and there. I'd have talked to him like a friend, not as a guest or a stranger or royalty--but as a friend.
It now reads the wolf will dwell with the Lamb. But it did say The Lion will lay down with the Lamb Scripture has been supernaturally CHANGING as predicted in Amos 8:11 PROPHECY is being fulfilled. Thousands of chsnges. Wake up in Jesus name. 💝🦁🐑🕊💫
I suppose most of the stories about Barrabas are from oral tradition and perhaps some obscure writings. There's a great movie about Barrabas played by Anthony Quinn; I highly recommend you watch that movie, it's an amazing story.
Shortly after the passion, the Jews revolted and Jerusalem was destroyed, the temple sacked, the people taken into captivity to Rome to become Roman, the funds taken from the temple payed for the construction of the Roman colosseum, built by the Hebrew slaves from the war. Many who built the Colosseum, knew or saw Jesus with their own eyes.
Noticed how barrabas wants to rationalize justify killing and destruction but not totally open minded and hearted to see there's an another way a well done acted scene
