What Dani said is true... except she missed the part where the Thief on the cross repented, and where everyone Jesus "hung out" with left changed. Pharisees were rebuked, blind men were healed, Mary Magdelene got devils cast out and became one of Jesus' closest followers, Zaccheus repented and repaid all those he cheated. Jesus didn't just love people and let them stay in there sin. He changed them for the better.
I find it interesting when people try to convince me that Jesus was a communist/socialiast. There is no where in the gospels where Jesus says to give everything to the government and let the government provide for all your needs. Jesus is above and beyond any of our politic ideas. Jesus was about love. Not this world’s definition of love. He tells us to repent because our sin keeps us in bondage and separated from him. One minor correction. Christianity is NOT named after Jesus. God’s earthly name was Yeshua. And His non-worldly name is Yahweh (refer to Exodus 3:14). Christianity is derived from the word Christus, which means Messiah in Greek (Mashiyakh in Hebrew).
People love to pick and choose Jesus's words, but so many don't read all of the sermon on the mount. It's really tragic once you read the entire thing. There's more to it than just love.
Then why is love the most important law in the Bible why was Jesus so fixed on making us understand mercy and love and forgiveness why is the law bound to that one part of the entire law of God? And without it why does the Bible say we are nothing without it? Why does Paul even say it is more greater then our faith in 1 Corinthians 13? And more greater then hope? She didn't even suggest that love isn't actually the most important. Because love IS the most important, but everything else Jesus taught was important too. You can't ONLY teach about love, and then ignore sin and repentance. (You definitely can't ignore love either.) "God is love", but love isn't God. Includes bigotry, self righteousness, classism, sexual immorality, pride, etc). Sin brings bondage both as individuals and as a society. Jesus lived a perfect life we couldn’t live. Our sin put him on the cross. But he rose in all power and authority. Salvation is offered to all who believe. Death where is your sting. It’s the love of God that leads us to repentance. There’s hope for the oppressed and the oppressor. That hope is Jesus Christ. He changed an oppressor Paul to an apostle. Christ changed the oppressed marginalized Samaritan woman to an evangelist. I remember seeing progressive Christianity as such a wonderful way to follow Jesus, but really I liked it so much because it was an out and a way for me to not have to face my sin. In deepening my Catholic faith, I’ve been saved again and my eyes have been opened. He’s a Good Father. He wants what is best for us. He loves us as a great father should. Love is not easy.

Yes the rebellious son would be stoned, but I see you kept one portion of the verses in question, so you brought up Deut 21:18-21, but didn't quote 20 so, it's Deut 21:18-19, 21. But 20 says something important. "20 They shall say to the elders, “This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.” So gluttony and being drunk was a no no in the jewish community. So it's pretty obvious what happened.
Love this! Progressive thinking is so common in our culture today. I am learning about their theology and it is so clearly different from what I read in the Bible. Repent/repentance is in the Bible over 100 times. It is part of the Christian faith.

I tried reading the bible to see if it would strengthen my relationship with him but it only made me sick to my stomach. There is no way God authored it because it contradicts itself all the time. I hear this all of the time! People love to say, "Jesus hung out with prostitutes, thieves, and murderers." Well how else can he help them? Jesus didn't hang out with everyone to participate in their sin; he was hanging out with them to heal and teach them!
Repentance is something far more wonderful and hopeful than what people make it out to be. Yes, it is tough to repent, but isn’t it great that we have the chance to turn and change our ways? Isn’t it amazing that we are not set on a path to destruction, rather, we simply need to turn to Christ to gain eternal life? That a new beginning awaits? Of course, I don’t mean to imply that following Christ is easy (it is absolutely is not), but the fact that God waits with open arms for anyone to follow Him and that we simply need to take Him up on that offer-that in it of itself is amazing to me.

What’s terrible is that a lot of people think that (Yeshua)Jesus isn’t Jewish. They think that he’s Italian And that his parents are Mr. and Mrs. Christ(i’m serious). First of all he did not look Greek (like in the pictures we have now) and he did not celebrate Christmas and Easter. He celebrated Hanukkah, Passover and the other Jewish feasts. He’s called the Jewish Messiah for a reason.

In response to the first girl, When Jesus was questioned about eating with sinners and tax collectors, His response was that those who are well have no need of a physician. But the sick are the ones who need it. Jesus was around those people to teach and help them realize their sin. In 2 Timothy Paul writes to Timothy and tells him that you have to humbly correct those in opposition so that they’ll realize the error of their ways and be released from the snare of the devil. Jesus was around these bad people so that he could do just that. To teach. And to do it in humility. He very much could’ve yelled at them and told them that they were sinners and going to hell. But He fellowshipped with them and was humble and taught them. And those who listened were saved. That’s why Jesus was around these people. To be a Shepherd. Which is what we should do. Step One - Understand Our Wrong- doing, or sin. The only people Jesus had a problem with were the religious ones though. The Pharisees and Saduces (i don't know the correct spelling lol) were the ones he was talking to in the verses you gave. Sinners were given a lot more grace. They were told to repent but in a kind loving way.

Hey man. i’ve always considered myself a christian & lately i been testing my faith on the bible by watching videos against the bible and stuff churches hide from us. And i feel like i’m in a very middle spot fighting between christianity and agnosticism. I’ve been watching people like hemant mehta aka (friendly atheist). Can you really tap into their videos and explain? I feel like his points are really good towards our religion. And never seen anyone debate him/ make a video correcting him. edit- dude i didn’t come for people to just say “you should just believe in him and stop testing your faith.” i want to believe and i do to an extent. Like i’m not sure if i believe in the bible so i watch videos that prove the bible wrong and prove it right. I so far seen more wrong then right BUT i WANT TO BELIEVE. That’s my point. I try to listen to the Bible everyday. I love god, I think what makes my sin difficult is usually it’s pressured like with pain or maybe not being educated enough for me. I always try to think “what causes this sin” and how do I correct myself to make sure i am living and following Christ. Again there is many outliers here, it’s probably many things. I remember when the innocence in my childhood heart broke and I felt really down on this world but day by day I appreciate the light I have left a little more. But the anger, the violence the greed will continue probably. All I really desire I think is something peaceful like being at the beach or somewhere quiet in nature. Not having to think about tomorrow. No more anything in this place, I’d trade it all away tomorrow to follow Christ. Because this world is a illusion and a facade really, everyone fakes their life,good stuff is actually bad stuff etc.
It is biblical to say He was progressive for His time. He spoke out against the then day "moral majority" and self righteous, and ultimately was shamed and killed because they thought they were righteous with God. It's really important to never hold yourself as being righteous.
However it is not the current progressive beliefs which stem from satanism. Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law, all under love, love under will. Which equals tolerance in the name of love. Tolerance is what people nowadays are preaching as Gods love but its not. Its one of the core beliefs of satanism (not laveyan, the real devil worshippers) because tolerance will allow ALL moral codes to broken in the name of love. I am at the tail end of the baby boomer spectrum, but I am certainly proud to be one. I am 57 years old and have always believed that younger people are supposed to learn from older people (somewhere in Job, I believe). I listen to videos put out by younger people and listen to them for a while then find myself unsubscribing from them for various reasons. But YOU, young man are someone that I listen to on a daily basis and have yet to find any of your comments that I differ with. Young people have always, not just today, had an aversion to older people. Intimidated? Maybe. Unimpressed? Usually. So it is for that reason I want to tell you how proud of you I am.
