I remember watching the Jet Provost flying overhead, especially if I was in York as they flew from the Vale of York.

talking about that loop.... im no pilot, but i suspect he learnt about his aircraft in a way no other training could. I say this, as i remember my early time on a motorbike..... lets try this... hmm no dont do that again, maybe this..... yes that works, but not at this speed etc.

Having had similar moments as a student pilot I dare to say at least I learned exactly nothing from those kind of stunts... except the fact that it is way better to do things in a controlled matter AFTER I had the basic knowledge to try them without having to change my underwear afterwards... Trial and error isn't the best way to learn to fly an aircraft, sice you can quite easily end up in a burning wreck.
