One more thing i always put at the top of my dry bag is a small hand towel, cause 99% of the time when you reopen the bag to get the keys, your hands are wet... so first grab the towel, dry hands and then scratch around for the car keys. :)
I just got a waverunner..and thought to myself. If this goes down I want all my stuff in one bag to grab. So it was cool to see someone with the same idea. I did a bright yellow dry bag. So I can see the bright yellow in the deep dark bins of the waverunner. I filled it with a first aid kit that also has some survival aids like a small flashlight, swiss army knife, a coast guard approved flare the goes for 60 hours on a Battery, a water straw for fresh water, a loud whistle, a water proof walkie that reaches the coast guard when your phone is dead or out of range, bug spray, and duct tape. Oh and one of those chorded bracelets with a compass and a firestarter. Now I'm gonna add some of the things you mentioned that I didn't think of! Thanks!
Hey Renee - the battery flare sounds interesting. Is it a strobe light or does it emit some sort of smoke? Also like the idea of the water straw - wondering if there’s anything simple that can desalinate salt water? Enjoy the waverunner!
@@JetSkiCamping the battery flare is a strobe light, it's dome shaped so light emits in all directions. It floats and can be seen day or night in a 3 mile radius. I just did some research on desalination. There is a team working on a straw, hopefully will be successful and in production one day. Till then looks like current systems are thousands of dollars and too big for jet skis. Collecting rain water or condensation survival methods look like the only way. If anyone else knows something about desalination methods if stuck in ocean let me know!
Mario and Chris have great suggestions and I think your "grab bag" is brilliant as is too. When I ride a stand up, there is basically no storage, so if I want to take a drone, phone, etc, it's in a dry bag that is put into a backpack. Great tips and really thought out as well!
Thanks Billy. Quick question - How does your drone go a low level over water?? Do you reckon I could launch and land a drone from a 3 seater at sea or would I have to go into shore??
@@JetSkiCamping it does well over water. But you need to launch and retrieve on land until you feel confident about grabbing it out of the air on a ski. It's doable but risky. I had a difficult landing in our boat one time because the wind. I almost lost it.
Thanks Billy - I’ve ordered the new dji mini 2 - hopefully the learning curving isn’t too steep. I was tempted to get the mavic air 2 due to active track but figured I best start with the base model as I may well crash it.
@@JetSkiCamping that's great! I'm stoked for you and look forward to how you incorporate the footage into your vids. Enjoy your Sunday, the sun has just set here in SoCal.
@@JetSkiCamping great videos and very helpful thank you. Good luck with the drone. I’ve had a few DJI drones for a few years now. Launch/landing on a boat isn’t easy… how are you going on the ski? Good topic for a video I’d say (if you haven’t done one yet?)
I like the small charger idea (and all the others!) but I invested a little more and purchased a small jump pack that can start the engine if the main battery doesn't have enough charge and also can charge phones...also has a built in light. Around $100 well worth the money!
Good idea - we also have a automotive jump pack that I take camping to charge cameras and phones. I’ve never used it to start the jet ski but have thought about it. Just wish the battery was more accessible instead of being at bottom of storage compartment.
Really well thought out ! Utterly superb. I’ve used the ski in Portugal for 2 years without flares, but have just ordered an “inshore flare pack” after watching your video. Thanks 🙏
