Thank you John. When you were talking about the pickling solution and how it cleans, I had a thought about cleaning my silver jewelry with that solution. Would it be advisable to use pickling solution to clean my silver jewelry without any stones set in? Thanx

You will need to polish after pickling, if you place finished jewellery in pickle it will come out clean but dull

I may add to any new jewelers, that You can use as picle citric acid. Just buy it in any grocery (it must be in crystals), put it in a small container and pour hot water. When that mixture is hot it will remove any oxidation from silver, and any copper, it is easy and cheap way to begin. After few times it will turn green (citric acid and copper create salt that is green). You can use it to cover some steel, things with nice copper layer. Just need to clean steel element with a acetone and dip it for a few hours. That layer will be very thin if You want it to be thick You need to use electricity.

Do you have a tutorial for restoring the yellow color for Golden jewelry? The method I'm currently using is to burn the jewelry until it's red, and then dip them in HCl solution. Most of the time it will turn yellow, but sometimes for gold that is 23 Carat or below, it will turn into darkish/reddish yellow. In order to push them into yellow is to repeat the process several times, but sometimes it won't change the result. How to prevent them turning into that state? Any idea?

The OJA does not have the sort of tutorial that you are looking for. You might want to do a quick search on Google. Sorry I don't have any better suggestions to offer. 😀

Here are two links to videos about the pickle pot that you might find helpful: www.onlinejewelryacademy.com/pickle-pot-set-up-video.html www.onlinejewelryacademy.com/spent-pickle-disposal-video.html Most jewelers use sodium bisulfate in their pickle pot. You can find it at any pool supply or hardware store in the section for spa supplies. 😀

Can I use this process to clean an old antique ring with a stone set in it? Agate to be specific. (Not sure if that matters?) I've just discovered your page, and your videos are so helpful!!

Hi Claire, This would not be a good method for cleaning your antique ring. I recommend that you purchase a mild jewelry cleaner from your local grocery store. If that doesn't work to your satisfaction, you might want to let a professional clean the ring for you. Thanks for your support! : )
