All they know is what they've read in their Christian bibles. Which is what they use. Not Judean Hebrew bibles, but Christian bibles invented by the Roman Empire lol. So please, don't belittle the rational and humble Igbo who understand that they still need to learn how to be Jewish, and need conversion to actually become such.
@@jessereichbach588 No no You are wrong. My grandfather who was not a christian told my father that the Igbos are hebrew. My grandfather was a Priest and our culture is the same as what was taught in the old testament by Moses. it is our culture and not a religion or something,

But this concept came out of 18th century Christianity in the region. So by the time your grandfather was alive, this had already well established roots. But Igbo culture is not very similar to Judaism/Israelite culture, there are no linguistic similarities, there are no genetic similarities with modern or ancient Levantine populations, and there was no Hebrew bible in Igboland until Igbo began to convert to actual Judaism. As you said, they had the "Old Testament". And we can tell this because the Hebrew bible and Old Testament are two different books. And we can also tell this because the myth you are perpetuating is a CHristian myth predominantl and there were no actual "lost tribes" in reality. It's a myth. It never actually happened. So how can Igbo be a lost tribe if there were no actual lost tribes? The bible is historical fiction. So how could igbo be a lost tribe if lost tribes are just fiction? And when 100% of the people claiming lost tribe status, got it from Christianity. All groups who claim to be a lost tribe, were once Christian or received a Christian bible and created their own form of Judaism out of it. They never use an actual Hebrew bible or had seen an actual Hebrew bible until after. Like 20% of the Northern Israel population were taken into exile in Assyria and turned into Assyrians. That's the extent of the reality. Everything else is Myth, largely created by Josephus. Which is where Christians get the lost tribe myth. So your grandfather didn't need to be a practicing Christian, because these myths were already within Igbo society by the time he was born. I am saying the myth itself entered Igbo culture hundreds of years ago with the arrival of Christianity. Which is why Igbo only have an old testament, and not a Hebrew bible. At least until recently when many Igbo began actually converting to judaism. I think there is like 27 synagogues now in Nigeria. There are very few similarities between Igbo culture Judaism. Jews got circumcision from Egypt, so that was originally an African practice, not a Jewish one. I am sure the ancestors of the Igbo were practicing it long before the ancestors of Jews and Israelites were. And circumcision on the 8th day is not even universal in Igboland. Igbo eat a completely non kosher diet. The rituals are mostly very different as are the festivals and holidays. There is also no genetic connection between Igbo and the Levant or Near east populations. None with Jews, Lebanese, Palestinians and so on. So I understand this is the culture now, and this is now an established myth but its origins are not actually Israel. And also because most Igbo know this to be true. The circumcision thing is purely coincidence. Igbos eat food that would make a Jew sin. Our traditions are different, our myths are different, deities are different. For every Igbo clan or tribe that has a similarity to Jewish custom, there are more that don’t. The Igbo aren’t a single entity that is the same in every aspect. Language, trade and exchange of culture are the things that bind Igbos together. Some variants of the Igbo language aren’t even intelligible to other Igbo speakers. The further you move from a certain part of Igboland the weirder it becomes. So basically there isn’t one homogeneous Igbo culture to compare to Jewish traditions, the ones that can be compared to Jewish culture are mostly coincidence and/or exaggerated. DNA tests on some igbos have already debunked this persistent nonsense." So look, I am not saying today there arent Igbo jews. There certainly are and they are 100% Jews. But that's because they converted. And when you convert to Judaism, you are initiated into the Kingdom of Judah. That's basically what Jewish "conversion" is. You become a part of the Kingdom. the people. But those are unfortunately, but objectively, the only actual Igbo "jews" or "Israelites". Because again, no tribes were ever actually lost. We know what happened to the population of Judah and Samaria in reality. And the bible is just a book of historical fiction.
@@martinsibeanusi4317 Also, Igbo were called Jews by others, AFTER CHristianity, for a few reasons, including the pogroms and horror Igbo had to go through at some periods. But the main evidence most Igbo claim is based on a stereotype overlaping with a stereotype for Jews. The first is circumcision as I mentioned, and only some Igbo circumcise on the 8th day. And the 2nd as I'm sure you know, "Igbo man loves money" is a quite popular stereotype. And because of this, others would call them Jews because it's a Jewish stereotype also. So there is overlap there. But that's..... well not actual evidence or an actual connection.
@@martinsibeanusi4317 I should have added, the British were one of the first to pretend to be a lost tribe. It's called "Anglo-Israelism" and it began centuries before the Igbo adopted the practice. What I am saying is, there was already this "lost tribe" concept in British society, and culture, and Christianity, by the time they colonized Nigeria. And these Brits went around Judaizing. Which is the origin of all Israelism in ex British colonies.
