I’ve always loved this super-tightly-structured song and it’s stunning vocal. Couldn’t stop playing the Scream for months after first putting in on in late ‘78. A revelation. A reaction. A result.
I used to be obsessed with this album, I use to believe the whole album was perfect, Siousie's vocals, the guitars of John Mckay, the Bass of Steve Severin and Morris on Drums.............Brilliant, I still love the album, maybe not as much and I believe their long wait for a Record contract made them a better group in the long run (I did buy the 'Love In A Void' Bootleg all them years ago).I couldn't wait for an official release. LOL
Hey Tony:} totally agree! Still now in 2019 Jigsaw Feeling sounds amazing along with the whole album, The Scream. Love McKay's playing, more so than the other Johns they got on guitar. Siouxsie is a postpunk legend:]
Torrie Venus Music no longer holds a central place in the culture. It will never recapture this vitality because nothing is really up for grabs anymore.
Just discovered them,am almost ashamed to say that I didn't know them earlier.Really Great and Terrific band. They have their very own ori-ginal sound.Groovy
Yeek - the Banshees playing 'The Old Grey Whistle Test' - back when we had real music shows on TV...last saw the Banshees live in '81 when they opened with this kickass sound.
Send me forwards-say my feelings But all the signals-send me reeling Jigsaw Feeling One day I'm feeling total The next I'm split in two My eyes are doing somersaults Staring at my shoe My brain is out of my hand There's nothing to prevent The impulse is quite meaningless In a cerebral non-event Five fingers do my walking Ten toes unravel 'Knots' Amorphous jigsaw pieces Falling into slots Send me forwards-say my feelings But all the signals-send me reeling Jigsaw Feeling So I just sit in reverie Getting on my nerves The intangible bonds that keep me Sitting on the verge... Of a breakdown Of a reaction Of a result (defeat me...)..Complete me...maybe...defeat me (Jigsaw feeling)
@Sidus666 The images with the soldiers were all part of the queens silver jubilee in 1977, I like the way the music gives what was a celebration a sombre feel. The explosions were Terrorist attacks in London, which there were a lot of in the seventies, Mostly carried out by Irish Republicans. The TV show was Bill Grundy's today show, where he had the sex pistols for an interview and tried to set them up by making them swear on live TV - It finished his UK Career . The rest is punk fashion
I effing love this song, thank god for the compilation, which includes the live video of this parts of which are seen here, along with metal postcard, also amazing. I absolutely love Kenny's drumming on this, especially at the end.
Wow, Luck You, I'm barely putting together my top CD list had 25 and now 26 with this song. I got the 81-93 stuff down, but songs like this 1981 and under I'm barely adding.
Many thanks, for posting this. Yep, the 70's & 80's were full of 'Cold War' turmoil, but, nothing like the Orwellian & Kafka-ish nightmare, what with blatant Big Brother-ism going on today! I became insane with long intervals of horrible sanity.- E. A. Poe.
OMG yeah we all did especially when the russians invaded Afghanistan we all thought it was game over but somehow the world seems a more dangerous place now than it did then
A really poinant time in UK society. We were told to hide under a table whilst the Soviet Union killed most of us.. We rebelled and Punk was born. The Police did the bidding our frightened Establishment asked. I cant read what I wrote as the type font is too small, but boy did we get angry about our situition. "Hide under a table".was government offgiicial advice if we were nuked......... I went on and joined the Army where as Crass said "I learnt a lot", I did, and laughed at it.
a tragic waste of young human life, taxpayers money, and our good relationship with the middle east - maybe another reason why the recession bit so badly all the countries money had been fired off in afghanistan - Blair should have been tried for the iraq war and afghanistan wrecked the country and cost so many lives for political ambition.
