Scott Hall in general would be an absolutely amazing (and tragic) episode imo I’m still upset that Scott Hall (I think it’s his?) and Mike Awesome episodes aren’t coming this season (…or possibly NEVER due to Vice’s pending bankruptcy/shuttering) due to all the hype/word of mouth scaring their loved ones/colleagues getting cold feet over being subjected to such a documentary format. In particular, to hear more about Mike Awesome’s tragic story (and diminished stature in WCW/WWE) and self…end of life would be worth it if it meant more people were to remember him for his best work/performances (FMW/ECW and even some of his WCW matches) and ESPECIALLY his athleticism. For for as big as he was, that man not only could take bumps & punishment as he’s dishing it in equal measure…but GODDAMN WAS HE ABLE TO BE A HIGH FLYER not unlike Chris Candito (his finishers) or Undertaker (walking that tight rope with ease + occasionally going off that top turnbuckle)! He’s very much missed, maybe not as much as Scott Hall for most…but definitely as much to me.

A thing missed on this episode was the World Bodybuilding Federation founded by Vince Mcmahon on 1991, where you have bodybuilders using substances for the "muscular gains", even more than in wrestling. At the end the WBF was a failed experiment, since the established company the IFBB (owner of Mr. Olympia) was too strong to be defeated on PPV sales and events, but this is a link for the steroid source used in wrestling.

@@superstarreviews9937 They did bring in Luger to the WBF first for those reasons, but my understanding has always been that it was something they were going to do regardless. Let’s face it, WWE was blatantly providing steroids for its top talent, just look at Hogan and Warrior during the late 80’s. However, the business was changing, for better or worse, and pumped up muscle guys were the thing. It was business. Illegal or not, money is money and don’t be so naive as to think top businesses don’t dabble in the illicit underworld to make quick cash. That’s how the world works.

Dont get me wrong, there's been a LOT of controversial stuff in wrestling. But, only so many can be told in long documentary form. And there's some things that they wont touch like the JBL bullying allegations, because too many wrestlers are on record supporting/making excuses for it/being buddies with the guy. Was a good episode. As a kid, I can remember the issue where state athletic commissions were going to force the wrestlers to wear headgear, etc, if Vince didn’t admit that it was sports entertainment. That issue was bigger news than the steroid trial in my memory as a kid. I don’t even remember hearing much about the steroid trial at the time. It is funny in retrospect to realize that the shift to smaller guys, Yokozuna, etc was all motivated by the steroid issue & not just Hulk Hogan randomly deciding to leave WWF.

I know some may say it’s cuz it was “just an hour” (well then make it a two parter like they have some others), but it seems a lot was left out. Just seemed like they only grazed the surface barely to me. 🤷‍♂️

This was a solid season. It wasnt as good as season 2, but still really good. The episode about XPW was better imo than it had any right to be. The story about two guys showing up at John Arezzi's house to intimidate him made me laugh b/c of how untrue it sounded. The Nick Gage episode I didn't care for b/c I don't like that type of wrestling and as Jim would say it's a bunch of outlaw mud show bullshit. The Chris Kanyon episode was weak, but I felt it wasn't a bad episode and the Luna Vachon episode made me sad for her and really dislike Sable even more than I already had. A few episodes I'd like to see for season 4: the life and death of Joanie Laruer, The WCW racism lawsuit, Black Saturday, and the ring boy scandal. Those would be the one's I'd love to see.
