I play the guitar for 50 years had about 40 guitars some were very expensive Jim Croce was always one of my favorites Me and You nail this your voice and your guitar playing is amazing my hat's off to you
Tremendous ! I grew up with Jim’s music and as with countless other devoted fans, his songs have a special place in my heart. I’ve been revisiting his great catalogue after seeing his talented son, AJ Croce, in concert last week in Buffalo, NY . AJ is an extraordinary human & a phenomenal , top calibre talent ! Guys , he is still on tour ( with full, all star band !) . GO see him ASAP ! Liz
I was born in 91....Jim's song resonate to people generations later and hearing covers like this reassure me that his stories will last forever. As a native new Yorker every word hits me in the gut. Love this song and amazing acoustic cover
Outstanding job. I still remember that day in 1973, when I learned Jim died in that plane crash. I think he would approve of this cover. Nice job, Brother.
High praise and I am grateful, Jim was a great talent whom I admire a great deal and wonder about what could have been. Thank you for sharing the memory.
Very nice cover!! I'm just now learning this song (it'll be awhile before I can play AND sing it - if I ever do!) Seeing and hearing people like you definitely gives me motivation to keep trying. Thank you!
@@JosephTurkot I can't play any instrument, but I was watching your hands and it seemed you strummed in different manners and were constantly changing keys with your other hand --- would you consider this song exceptionally difficult to play?
Brilliant rendition Joseph. Thanks so much for learning the song so quickly, nice surprise. You have a big fan in me bro. Do you gig out? I would imagine you'd draw some nice crowds, or deserve to anyway. Do you do any Gordon Lightfoot. Jim and Gordon are my 2 favorite folk guys.
Things were spinnin' 'round me And all my thoughts were cloudy And I had begun to doubt all the things that were me Been in so many places, you know I've run so many races I looked into the empty faces of the people of the night Somethin' is just not right 'Cause I know that I've gotta get outta here I'm so alone Don't you know that I gotta get outta here 'Cause New York's not my home Though all the streets are crowded There's somethin' strange about it I lived there 'bout a year and I never once felt at home I thought I'd make the big time I learned a lot of lessons awfully quick And now I'm tellin' you that they were not the nice kind It has been so long since I have felt fine That's the reason that I've gotta get outta here I'm so alone Don't you know that I gotta get outta here 'Cause New York's not my home That's the reason that I've gotta get outta here I'm so alone Don't you know that I gotta get outta here 'Cause New York's not my home
great rendition love your voicing as well spot on! Thank you for doing this, Jim so missed & its nice that singers/ guitarist are remembering his music! ❤🎶
Okay I see a lot of Jim Croce covers, but I think this is the best one I've seen. Great guitar work, great vocals, you had me singing harmony with you. I've always done so much of Jim Croce's music in my act, along with John Denver and Dan fogelberg, but I always was looking for somebody who might be my Maury...
Stumbled on to this when checking out some covers..I totally agree with James C. after listening to so many people butcher Jim Croce's music this was such a nice surprise! Great cover. You made a new fan with one song :)
So I've never heard this song before, but I heard the first 10 seconds and had to pause it to say that it already sounds a lot like Redundant by Green Day!
Certainly one of the best covers I’ve ever heard...captured the feel...on what I’d say is one of more difficult Song to understand the essence...nice work...how it should be if your going to cover anyone music...
