It's impossible to do anything. There are more guns in the United States than there are people. It's way too late to do anything. Guns should have confiscated when the Texas tower sniper killed people. I was in a college in Boston when that happened..there were several towers and no way to avoid them. I was terrified.

You pretend that the first part of the 2nd Amendment doesn't exist. A state or local militia is permitted, but must be WELL REGULATED. You don't want any regulation at all. That isn't what the 2nd Amendment says.

There was one school shooting in 1996 in Dunblane, Scotland. Now you're not allowed to carry a gun unless you have a very good reason, and there have been no more. We don't have a Second Amendment here though. The Second Amendment seems to be worth more than hundreds of human lives.

The shooter was treated for mental health issues and we wonder why officials did not invoke the Red Flag Law.

The second was meant for the states to create their own National Guard, where citizens are free to join and learn how to bear arms, to be used in the defence of their state. They were also using muskets when it was written, and even Tombstone Arizona in the 1800's had more stricter gun laws, than there is now. The second was not written for the yahoos who have twisted it into something completely heinous. If I had my druthers, guns wouldn't exist at all.

The phrase, a well regulated militia, is never mentioned. It is ignored by the NRA and politicians. It was put in the Second Amendment for a reason. The U.S. did not have a standing army, etc. They needed trained people to defend our country. They never meant for any yahoo to go around with a rifle. I think they will go into local woods with a lot of care because you don't want to get searchers killed in ambush, that is about all you can do till he resurfaces. There are maybe 100 small islands within 20 miles by water from where he was last seen, what he did and bought over the summer could provide clues, most of the islands are tree covered without inhabitants. If he was out on the water at all, bought a cache of food, then you start thinking he will spend the winter on one of those islands he set up before this.

As a mental health professional, I can tell you these guys, deeply wounded by killing, often profoundly wounded PTSD pts..never received adequate care in the VA hospitals, are often walking time bombs , many stresses can set them off. ALWAYS DEEPLY SUICIDAL ... rageful yes, but full of SELF HATE as well. I suspect he may have killed himself.
