Many of you have been waiting to see Jim Kovaleski’s grass-fed gardens up in Maine. He recently came up with the idea of the “Grass-Fed Greenhouse” and the results speak for themselves. Jim shows us that in just a short amount of time, the soil has a surplus of fertility all from very few amendments; mostly scythed grass!
Want to see more of Jim Kovaleski?! We filmed a Course with Jim. It's called "The Grass-Fed Market Garden" ; this course is packed with exclusive information and is affordable! We are constantly adding more content to the course so be sure to check it out and learn from the Farming Master!

I haven't owned a tv for 10 years. I prefer to watch guys like Jim, where I learn and am inspired. Based on Jim and a few others, I started a community vegetable garden where I live. an over 50s village with 85 residences. I cannot convey what a positive thing this has been for the people living here. It has helped everyone to eat healthier, and got a few moving more. This is so logical, so simple.....but it requires initiators like Jim and Pete to teach, motivate, and broadcast. God Bless you both Jim and Pete.

Pete, please pass this along to Jim: His calm and reassurance honestly helped me through such a dark time. Consistency and trust via Jim Kovaleski has helped me to remember that I can make a choice and change it later. I’d say his philosophy comes across as “shit happens,” but it’s so much more positive than that. It’s hopeful. Thank you, Jim. Thanks, Pete!

"You can gift things away if you feel abundant." To me this sentence is so comprehensive of plants and people, so basically nature, that it made me think of my job as a teacher as well, where I feel that I can have an impact on the ground that the students and their knowledge grow on. I can see that many did't start in the best circumstances but still it doesn't need anything artificial to "nurish" them but rather a basic human tone that trust in their will to cooperate and thrive. Thanks a million for sharing inspiration and insight in workinng with nature as a part of it!

Damn those lands and gardens of Jim are heaven, I am 28 years old and an organic farmer myself. I have the land to grow food which is about 10 hectares but I lack water, seeds, technology like the caterpillar greenhouse. We also don't have where to buy compost and where to get woodchips so it's real hard to do a no till like Jim's. I am young and I love to grow vegetables but where I leave we have good fertil land but lack other things like organic seeds. Wish the best to Jim, he is a hard working man you can tell.

I would love to hear Mr Kovaleski quote Fukuoka San when evolving some of his core principles. It's really inspiring to see these methods of straw mulching and chicken manure beeing used in different settings than in the rice/barley field such as this veggie market garden. I would like to know if you sow any seeds in the meadow from which you collect the scythed straw? I saw some clover and maybe some vetch in the other videos where you made your own bales. I'm a Zen Buddhist and have helped improve the food garden of some temples in East Asia for many years and I really like Mr Kovaleski underlying the fact that he is feeding up to 40-50 families which indeed is a community and not just petty bourgeois family hobby. I wrote earlier that I'm heading to the north of Spain to see if its possible to implement some of this scythe based natural farming over there. Hope to be able to tell you some good stories in not to long.

Hey Jim. Ur fan here in the Philippines. I'm a woman who love to planting organic vegetables. I only made my own organic soil made of hay, banana branches, karabaw manure and madre cacao leaves. Let earthworm rotten it 4 about 8mos. If it is castings I used to plant at all. I love purplish white corn. In our place here it's very hard work of being organic but it's ok at least it has no chemical at all. God bless us all Jim.

@CharlesGann1
@CharlesGann1 2 года назад
Jim is cutting his fresh and not getting mature hay. I use hay from bales and find pre conditioning it by exposure or chickens makes it better mulch. Giving it time to sprout and disrupting by raking,turning or chickens before laying on as mulch helps a lot. Similar to the maintenance you see with wood chips on a woodchip garden.
