For some reason people in the industry love down talking warrior probably because he didn't take their crap, as a child in the late 80's he's the reason I started watching wrestling because of what he was on screen, no "push" could make anyone get behind him as all the little warriors did, look at Roman Reigns or John Cena they were pushed more than anyone ever and couldn't get half the love warrior got, I wish people would just let him be, but talking bad about him is a way of getting clicks I guess.

Nick p Or, in the real world... He didn’t know an arm bar from his arsehole. He hated the fans. He held up promoters for money he wasn’t due. He was a roided up egomaniac and a locker room cancer few liked. His matches were either squashed or someone had to carry him. Figures tanked during his reign. He treated make a wish kids appallingly, which makes him the lowest of the low. He said Heath Ledger deserved to die for playing a gay character - and worse. For some reason people choose to whistle awkwardly and sweep all that under the rug. It’d be funny if it weren’t so pathetic.

@@kelman727 The Ultimate Warrior on screen character/wrestler is the child hood hero of so many what he did behind the scenes isn't something as a child people would think of or know about, the fact you expect children to know what makes a good arm bar or carrying a match is stupid, the make a wish story is bad if its true but only warrior knows why he'd do that and he aint alive to answer that story told by other people, I didn't know warrior the person I just speak of the character, you need to take a chill pill... by the way who's your child hood hero? Pat Paterson and the cream team? Chris Benoit? Vince Mcmahon for his handling of the owen hart death at over the edge by scooping him out the ring and continuing the show or providing wrestlers with steroids over the years? Scott Hall for the car park incident at the bar? Lex Luger for providing Elizabeth with pills? @@kelman727 lol you just described just about every wrestler from the 80s. Was he a prick, tough to work with, full of roids and more interested in his own brand? Yes. But so were a lot of guys. Warrior deserved his HOF place, The energy and charisma he bought in the late 80's and early 90's was absolutely phenomenal. OK, So he had 3 moves at best, But to a young 10 year old in 1990 he was amazing and something we had never seen. We believed he talked to the gods and we believed he got his power from the gods. We believed in Warrior and he played that character to perfection. The painted face, the body, the shaking of the ropes and the running down to the ring, We hadn't seen anything like that since Hogan hulking up. So, whilst as we have got older, we realise, he really wasn't a good wrestler, he made up for it in energy and charisma and the belief that he bought to the character. Warrior takes us back to a time where us 40 year olds just were just 10 and believed in everything we were sold. He bought back the innocence of the child within us then. So he shouldn't be judged HOF wise on whether he was a bad person or his politicking to keep his spot or not do business, He should always be judged on what he bought to that 10 year old you, 30 years ago. And back then, they were some absolute glorious days before the attitude era came along.

I don't believe for one second he knew he was going to die as romantic and poetic that may seem. He always trained hard and intense and high strung 24/7. All the testosterone and hgh over the years didn't do his heart any good either. He had 2 daughters that were little and I'm sure the center of his life along with his bride. A guy like Warrior couldn't leave his daughters lives that young with so much unfinished knowing his view on things. His heart problems were hereditary and going to the hall of fame and back to the WWE for a couple of days only was I'm sure very nerve racking and tough on his heart. I believe if he had any inkling he was close to death he would have had himself hospitalized in a second, no questions asked. That's my opinion.

As the character Ultimate Warrior... he may not have lived up to being Hogan’s successor, but his energy and character got fans excited. His energy helped mask a lot of his lack of skills. Warrior was so mentally in tune with being the best one can be and ACTUALLY LIVING IT not like many WWF/WWE performers who just performed in the ring. Warrior was a work hard, do things to your best ability guy and THE FANS LOVED him because he also had great inspirational quotes that motivated his fan base to ASLO BE THE BEST YOU CAN BE. He also became a motivational speaker after the WWE career and was a patriotic American man trying to instill good character values into those that would listen to his talks at colleges and in business. He is the WARRIOR and will live on in the years after his passing because if you listen to his speaking videos he tells THE TRUTH whether you like it or not. One thing WARRIOR was not, is a LIAR. He spoke out when others took the company line not to rock the boat. And I will leave you with a WARRIOR quote: IT IS NEVER WRONG TO FIGHT FOR WHAT IS RIGHT. NEVER. Jim Hellwig "WARRIOR" was so much more than just a WWF/WWE wrestler.

Warrior actually took the first step by posting a picture of himself and Vince during the 1000th episode in 2012. When Macho Man died, Warrior realized that he wouldn’t have a legacy if he didn’t make a WWE appearance. No one went to his website. Barely anyone noticed his 2008 comeback. He knew he would be forgotten in the same way Randy had been swept under the rug. When Macho died, Warrior knew he had to do something and it really brought him into reality that he wasn’t as famous as he used to be and if he wanted to be remembered, he needed to be in WWE. He finally realized what he had to do to make efforts to be involved in something.

Your opinion is hilarious, everyone remembered Macho Man and Warrior....the WWE needed those guys to be where they were today. Even today if neither of those guys where in the HOF we'd still be mentioning why aren't they. Their personal lives/behind the scenes and decisions on contract discussions will never reflect what they did for that company period. Their legacy lives forever. Just like the almighty Hogan, whos blurt out racist words and lived a life of drugs and sleeping with guys wives and daughters friends, bought his sons way out of punishment and blew the whistle on steroids......but we just sweep that under the rug right? Those names will never be forgotten. Period.

I agree with JR in that he said that Warrior did not look well during his speech, and seemed to need help walking to the ring on RAW the following night. I’m sorry but Warrior wasn’t that special. There have been plenty of guys since with better physiques, better talking skill, and quite frankly, better strength of character that have come since warrior. Many of them did not get half the push warrior gets. A lot of people have the mark mindset. They don’t understand that if you give some big muscle bound guy a “Goldberg push” of letting him beat everyone, it’s not that hard for them to get over. I’m more impressive when they actually have to cleanly lose a match every once in a while and still manage to get over.

I have friends and co-workers who are in their early 20s, they weren't even born yet when Warrior was actively wrestling, and they know who Warrior is - most of them don't know anything about AEW, and if they know Jericho, it's from the late Attitude and Ruthless Aggression eras. I love Jericho, he's a hall of famer for sure, and in many ways one of the greatest talents of the past 20 years....But let's be honest, he's nowhere near as over as Warrior was. He isn't even anywhere near as over as he himself used to be.

Many are still bitter that a realest like the Warrior, arguably as big as Hogan in the late 80's / early 90's didn't have to kowtow to the business like 95% of others. He shot to stardom because he breathed charisma, far more than any other in that era. And people are still angry at him, because the WWE had to plead and beg HIM to come back, rather than the other way around as it normally is, with ex-stars putting them over on podcasts and suck up via Tweets

Everyone hating on Jim Ross here need to understand something about Warrior. And I say this with respect to Warrior. Warrior spent YEARS posting outrageously hateful, spiteful blog posts about a lot of people in the industry. I always enjoyed Warrior's in-ring persona and gimmick but in real life he made himself a LOT more enemies, totally unnecessarily, for years and years. Any bitterness by Jim Ross here pales in comparison to the bitterness, vitriol, and insult that Warrior had posted. That being said, I pray that Warrior rests in peace, I was and still am a fan of his kayfabe persona. I do not think the man we saw inducted into the HOF would be proud of his posts and hatred. Don't hate on Jim Ross here, he's just speaking reality. He's clearly not happy with the reality.

His thoughts on people of different races, gays and hate filled comments about others in the business (like when he wished that Bobby Heenan would die of cancer) are some of the reasons why he is not beloved by most. If others have their reasons to like the guy, nothing wrong there. But we can agree he was no saint. I respect Jim Ross comments of Warrior, as his reasons to see him in a certain light is due to his experience in dealing with him. Fans that see him more favorably due to nostalgia is fine, but undersanding how polarizing the man is can help see why people arent much fans of his.

I want to love Jim Ross for what he's been to wrestling, but the constant bitterness and politics over The Warrior makes me lose a significant amount of respect for anything he has to say. When I was 10, I didn't know any backstage politics. I didn't know how good or bad Warrior was behind the scenes or in the ring. All I saw was this high energy muscle guy with face paint who acted how I wanted to act in a fight; brave, fearless, and unhinged with the muscles and attitude to back it all up. I was a fan. I was not a fan off backstage politics and contracts and personal grievances because I didn't know of such things and as a fan I never wanted to know. But every time a Jim Ross or Bruce Pritchard or Jim Cornette talks about Jim Hellwig they go out of their way to expose every crossed t and dotted i. They expose things they claim a fan shouldn't know. That's the corrupted politics I can't stand. To us fans he was The Ultimate Warrior. Did he do the company wrong? Did he do those particular people wrong? Was he bad in the ring? Was he difficult to talk to or conduct business with? Most likely. But I don't care, because we fans tuned in and paid to see what was on the camera and in the ring, and that's where The Warrior delivered. The fact that we know so much of the otherwise hidden aspects of the business is because of people trying to tarnish his legacy.

Ross is so ridiculous and bitter. Ross is one of those people who want wrestlers to be “all about wrestling” and frankly they should hold the business as their highest value. Warriors highest value is his life and happiness. And yes warrior was not a good wrestler but the fact is that warrior’s character helped bring the concept of out of this world characters and unworldly characters to the business. older wrestlers hated warrior pushing his gimmick. But Vince saw the future in character creations and is another reason why he wanted warrior in wwe. Without warrior there are no undertakers kanes and stings.
