Jim's just another reason I'm so proud to be from Kentucky. I grew up watching him on Sat morning's. And then in all his movies. He will always be missed. R.I.P.
@@grugnotice7746- I didn't find any of it funny at all and I love comedy. It was pretty sick. This world has warped a lot of people. I'd rather watch Tim Hawkins talk about blessing Cheetos and Dr Pepper.
I watched Earnest as a kid. I remember in one movie he screamed I stole the Lindburgh baby! When we actually learned about it in school, I laughed so hard I got detention😂.

I still remember that commercial where he tries to help his neighbor Vern fix his tv. He shocks the crap out of himself and walks away mumbling, "My Daddy used to work on these..." 🤣 He was hilarious! One of the greats, RIP Jim.
i'm a 30+ parent and have made sure over the years to introduce his movies to my kid's some of their favorites are his movies and I am certain they will show them to their kids one day.....his legend will never die :)
I enjoyed his patrayal of Jed Clampet in the hillbillies movie, I thought he pulled it off very well he gave the character the same respect and wisdom that Buddy Ebsen had done previously

2 years and 5 months before I was born, but during the 80s and the early 90s I watched everything he ever made. Well, at least everything that was available at blockbuster video, video warehouse, and every other movie rental place local to me back in the day. He's one of my all time favorites. His characters are spot-on too. RIP Mr. Varney.
I watched all the Ernest movies during some dark times they just lifted my spirit and were so funny. He was a brilliant actor who could do anything, he also had a great voice. Excellent Jed Clampett. He died to young.
I completely agree with you. Jim Varney was a true entertainer. He was an excellent actor, comedian, and voice actor. He might’ve been from kentucky but you’d never know since he was a classical trained actor who could play super serious characters while reciting Shakespeare or he could play characters like Ernest P. Worell. He was always spot on and he’ll always be will missed.
I miss him too. That routine was later reproduced in Earnest P. Worrells Family Album... one of my favorite underappreciated films. Ruth wasn't that big and they ate pretend food.

Growing up as a kid in the 80's, Jim Varney was always one of my favorites, and he's one of my inspirations as one of my dreams has been to do stand up comedy one day. I've missed him for several years, but I never knew how badly I did until "Ernest Goes To Camp" was playing in the living room one day and my wife was watching it. I walked in to hear him singing "Gee, I'm Glad It's Raining" in that scene. I tried to be tough as a now 45 year old man, but I finally caved and the tears came. My wife asked me if I was ok, and all I said was " I will be, it's just really good memories coming back" I wish he was still with us......know what I mean, Vern?!

Growing up he was my fav actor,comedian.....I swear I thought his name was really ernest.....but as a five year old I thought they were saying ernest t world.......lol
He comes out in one episode of Alice and since Flo hadn't yet been run out of the show by Lavine, this was sometime in the '70s when Jim Varney appeared.
he just looks active an doesn't overeat if i had to guess. by overeat I don't know if people need to eat as much as they do unless working out a lot or doing heavy labor
He could have been a healthy person - perhaps how he lived in Kentucky, but genetics must play a role too. His physique looks natural. You could tell with every type of person and built if it was made (fat, doughy or slim), or born.

Someday comedians will be imitating Jim instead of Jim creating the character. Joe Liles said Jim was part Indian-Strong, determined person! I remember the day they pulled up in that big fat Chrysler gas hog of theirs-Joe always used my old Dodge Dart to drive Jim to the Operation Petticoat set; don't see many videos on that. I drove Jackie to the beach when she came out-wonder where she is these days? The twins are acting now too, but they weren't Jim's. Might as well have been. RIP both Jim and Joe. Love to hear from Betty sometime; always thought Joe would have married Theresa- We have a tape singing Mullen burg County...Jim was as strong of a musician and a pretty good singer, as he was a Shakespearean actor.

There are a few things I actively stand up for or stand behind. Preservation of one or national treasures Ernest p whorl (Jim Varney) is definitely one of them.
I loved Jim Varney so much, he did not need to use filthy language, or nasty sex junk to be funny! He was a very gifted comedian and was halarious! Also I thought he was very good looking and cute! He passed two days before my 40th birthday, and that was one of the saddest days of my life cause I am one of his biggest fans! R.i.p. Jim and enjoy Heaven. Forever remembered and loved and forever missed. 😟😔
