I can remember being totally blown away when this album came out. I was just amazed at Jimi's imagination and the number of new ideas he had and how he always caught me off guard with almost any new release. That's why I'm still blown away, to this day. It wasn't just his guitar playing, it was also his creative way of mixing and using new effects, such as flanging, creative use of echo, stereo panning, backwards guitar. Flanging, when done from Studio magnetic tapes, sounds so much better than any of the effects pedals made for guitar. And of course, I was still new to smoking the herb, which only enhanced my listening experience of the album even more. Thank you, once again.... It's always great to see each of these new episodes, BBW. As always 5 out of 5..... 🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮
Wow.....thanks again and again !! The producers of this series are geniuses !! Also - it's fantastic to hear about Bob Dylan liking Hendrix's version of All Along The Watchtower
This was very interesting as well as the imagery and close up's into his eyes just about sent shivers down my spine, now I can appreciate the UFO vibes I have always got from Jimi 's music, great doco thanks 😊
I have that Sound Center attempt at 1983, on bootleg. He had Steven Stills in the studio with him, likely playing bass. It is very cool, to listen to Jimi trying to play as if he was under water! At one point, he shouts "Turn it up!" His riffing was otherworldly, for about a minute...then suddenly the recording ends.
Brilliant stuff, as always. I would add "Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window?" to the list of Dylan covers that Jimi performed and / or recorded. Thank you for this amazing series.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for such a wonderful breakdown of this opus. Been listening to it for 55 years and it never gets old..nor does any Jimi. Fly on.....
Such a great episode! Been waiting all day to watch it and you never disappoint. Love all the deep knowledge of the songs on Electric Ladyland. I remember growing up I was heavily into House Burning down as well as Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) but really the entire double album is a masterpiece. Seeing Stevie Ray doing Voodoo Chile and Third Stone from the Sun was the closest you could come to seeing Jimi. No one else could come close to the intensity with the way he covered them imho! Also great knowing how many other musicians were involved in Electric Ladyland. I knew the ones you mentioned already but still a nice reminder. I gotta say.. Noel really comes off as being pretty spiteful and dickish. Hendrix gave him a career in music and he's never seemed too thankful. Jimi, Dave Mason and Jack Casady could run circles around Noel when it comes to playing Bass. Sorry if that sounds harsh. It is what it is! So looking forward to part 3.
this is the 1ST time ⌚😊 I heard about the song burning of the mid night lamp and the old man in the house 🏡 using a lamp 4 light there's alot that was from JIMIS song I just heard about this 1 😊😊 OMG 2 28 2O24
Yes...the album is JIMI's masterpiece, putting virtually all of Jimi's abilities on guitar on display. Those photos of Jimi wearing that Sun God medallion, are my very favorite Hendrix "look"...I have noticed, that after the late summer of 1968, the medallion was never worn again by Jimi...I can only speculate, that it was stolen, along with some other items and even guitars, while Hendrix was staying at 2850 Benedict Canyon Drive, in Sept-Oct of 1968. I wonder who has it now, it would be worth a ton of money!
More great work mr belly button. In my youth I couldn't ever consider side C as more than ine continues work an was one of my most favorite pieces ever. I also have always thought that Mitch never got the complete recognition he deserves as a drummer. Yeah the other guys of the time were great, like to Moon, bonham etc, but Mitch was on a whole different level than most of the rest. His interludes on side c proves that an deserves to be mentioned. Thanks again for your work to get it right.
BBW You should omit anything this writer Glover from Rolling stone had to say about Jimi or the experience. Just a thought. But after 53 years I can say, He is a doofus. "Someone who'll buy and sell for me Someone to toll my bell." Thee description of Shapiro and whoever about Midnight Lamp sucked, Of course it is about a loneliness feeling. But geez. STP-LSD, We had to wait until Loose Ends-74- to hear that in America, Cub Coda, (His quotes) on the other hand are cool. He sang, "Smokin' in the Boys Room" and wrote books "Blues for Dummies" 1983 a mythical masterpiece to escape mankind's insane savagery. At 12-16 I dreamed of people on a hill near my neighborhood and blasting this as a uniifier for them all. 1989 Live and Unreleased Box Set has a super cool studio outtake of 1983 where some is perfect and in other parts you can hear the task Jimi and Eddie had to go through to complete it.
Hendrix didn't like the cover of the album , he didn't choose it . We see in a photo of Jimi eating the cover album . He didn't choose the cover for Axis: Bold as Love too , with the hindu deity , that I like alot , its a piece of work . Just to say .
4.45 LOOK AT HENDRIX PHOTO AT OUR RIGHT HAND SIDE AND check what he's wearing - a PSYCHEDELIC ELEPHANT! WITH THE SILVER SIGN is shaped lol ,wonder if he knew or anyone pointed it out .
Nope. The Allen bros in the 73' movie, and multiple biographies. "I am an international citizen." Plus, he liked the way MLK did it best. And he quietly contributed to his cause. Not via violence. Not his thing.
There is one of these episodes that said he did like them but i can't see in reality why he would , perhaps this was just something that got put in this great series but i don't think he would have supported them while believing in MLK as the right way to go about making change . I did recall it was said in the one episode but not by Jimi himself nor written down by him . .
Jimi Hendrix did support The BLACK PANTHERS. He was Black he had no Choice because he knew What the BLACK PANTHERS were About. The BLACK PANTHERS Wasn't a Gang they did Things that Gangs don't Do, People need to Research the Black PANTHERS instead of Just speaking about the Black Panthers. Ignorance isn't BLISSFUL Ignorance is Expensive facts.
@@antrygis1 Jimi Hendrix did support The BLACK PANTHERS. He wasn't no sell out what do you think the Songs like FREEDOM is About & he'd Dedicate The song Voodoo child To the Black Panthers.
