THE JIMI HENDRIX STORY - JANUARY 1967. EPISODE FIVE - AS YOU'VE NEVER HEARD IT BEFORE -
This program comprisies the following:
0:00. THE MID-SIXTIES LONDON CLUB SCENE (In the mid-1960s, it was widely acknowledged that the club scene in and around London was unrivalled, standing as the pinnacle of its kind worldwide)
02:28. AND THE ROCK’N’ROLL CIRCUS IS IN MOTION Incl APPEARANCES for JAN 1967 (With interviews, photo calls, recording sessions and an ever growing list of club dates which, if you include all the travelling time between gigs up and down the country, meant they very rapidly found themselves with no free time)
05:50. MITCH ON WIND CRIES MARY & JIMI’S SONGWRITING (Jimi was incredibly literate and in possession of a great deal of wisdom. I’ve really no idea where it came from, but what a gift for words!)
07:06. ‘THE WIND CRIES MARY’ - ORIGINS OF THE SONG (The song was written in the wake of a cataclysmic row between Kathy Etchingham, whose middle name is Mary, and Jimi)
08:46. ‘51st ANNIVERSARY’ - THE SONG AND THE RECORDING (A great recording, I always loved that song. It features five guitar overdubs all linking in together, to sound like one guitar. Hendrix was brilliant. We would record on four-track, premix down to two-track, fill those up, and overdub again.")
10:14. RECORDING PURPLE HAZE, ACCORDING TO CHAS (With “’Purple Haze,’ Hendrix and I were searching for a sound and just kept going back in, two hours at a time, trying to achieve it)
11:28. JIMI IN HIS OWN WORDS - HEY JOE AND THE MEANING OF PURPLE HAZE (It was the first time I ever tried to sing on a record. I was too scared to sing. Chas made me sing serious. I just wish I could sing really nice, but I know I can’t. I just feel the words out)
13:03. JIMI AND KATHY AND THEIR INCESSANT ROWING (Jimi was particularly frustrated by the lack of decent food in England at the time)
15:08. WE STILL HAD WRETCHED NIGHT AND PERSONAL BAD MOMENTS (Just to keeps things in perspective, not everyone loved us. We still had wretched nights when the audience hated us and every note we played)
16:00. THE NORTHEN ENGLISH CLUB BOOKINGS (Before ‘Hey Joe’ came out and became a hit, Chas had booked Jimi to do a tour of the working-men’s clubs in the north of England. He tried to get Jimi out of it once it was obvious that he could pull bigger crowds at other venues, but the contracts were water-tight)
18:11. TWO GIRLS IN EACH ARM, EXHAUSTED AND SKINT! (Things changed Fast and our days settled into a routine: up late, travel, gig, get pissed, crawl into bed between four and eight in the morning)

Jesus Christ! What wisdom. "After all the Jacks are in their boxes. And the clowns have gone to bed ". I believe describes, after their row ended and the aftermath. Then, "A broom is drearily sweeping off the broken pieces of yesterday's life ". This refers to the mess clean up he did. Other authors would have simplified too much exposing a lot of the mysteries of the subject. In so doing, Jimi attempted to appeal to Mary of a good thing arising out of their erstwhile palaver, and storming our minds to philosophize. ✌️♥️👍👏

@dennismason3740
@dennismason3740 Год назад
@@xelphinx - Jimi told Chas he was going to fire Mike, who was stealing from Jimi. Before Jimi could do this he was killed. When Mike found out he was going to be fired he took out an insurance policy that would pay out to him (Mike) should Jimi die. There was a video in RU-vid for about a year showing the medical examiner's report and one of the ambulance drivers and assistant examiner were both interviewed. Jimi had been dead for a while when the ambulance arrived. Monika (?) whatsername was the last "friend" to see Jimi alive (except for the killers) and she "discovered" the body in the early morning. The coroner's report said that Jimi had about a liter of wine in his lungs, indicating that it had been poured into his nostrils whilst he was held down. Jimi died drowning in wine. The thugs also pushed sleeping pills down his throat and they were found undigested in his stomach. Michael collected 2 million in insurance and he was dead in a couple of years under mysterious (drunken?) circumstances. The vomit story is a cover up, by who I don't care.

Hi Dennis, I plan to cover the theories, further down the track. I am familiar with the material to which you refer, and clearly has polarised the Hendrix fan community. My position is to merely communicate the facts, from which people will draw their own conclusions. I will say the following: the maligned legacy attached to Jeffery is by no means unanimous, the second inquest/investigation arrived at the same outcome as the first, and more often than not, the simplest explanation that accounts for the observed facts is often the truest. I look forward to presenting that information in the future. Cheers!

@@BELLY_BUTTON_WINDOW - I have been witness to horrors in my 70 years and the media chooses often to create their own story. Jimi's death was not investigated by competent interested people. The new investigation, same as all the rest of the lies. All of my research kept coming back to the same conclusions. Jimi's cause of death was drowning because he had wine poured into his nostrils and pills forced down his throat. The real story was in a British doc about 13 years ago - coroner's assistant, ambulance driver, copy of the report with "wine in the lungs - about a half-litre". Mike was a gangster with powerful friends, maybe they lied too. The real doc disappeared from YT a few years ago. I've been uncovering lies all my life and it can often piss off dangerous people. It's the old Kennedy and the Magic Bullet story. People still buy it. Your work is fine, the videos are good and don't believe everything they tell you. Storytellers, you are, investigative journalists? Not so much. "Oh, it's in the Guardian, man...".

I would bet the New York, L.A., Chicago, and San Francisco scene was bigger than it was in London. Rock and roll was invented in the U.S. In England it seems to be mostly about classes and fashions, the fashions they got from Italy. In the U.S., fashion was secondary to the music and ideas.

Hi Michael, yes and no. For sure, history is the simplification of the past. What I find interesting is the complex web between the British invasion eg Beatles & Stoines et al, the English blues revival, and the counter-culture. As I highlight, England afforded Hendrix an opportunity for fame in a national media, and so a launching pad...back into the US via Monterey. Love your input! Cheers

At 2:16 there's a photo in the video of John Lennon's Give Peace a Chance. First of all, The Beatles have not even been mentioned in this video previously. Second, that song was not released until 1969. (Released as a single in July 1969 by the Plastic Ono Band on Apple Records, it is the first solo single issued by Lennon, released while he was still a member of the Beatles, and became an anthem of the American anti-war movement during the 1970s.). Just a mention to the person who put this video together.
