Belly Button Blessings to you for doing this . I met Mitch and enjoyed a few hours of him on July 26th 1985 at Harpos Victoria BC inner Harbour. I was 18. It changed me as a drummer. Mitch knew I was not allowed in and let me sit beside his hi hat side. Love it. Met Al Hendrix and I am left handed. This program series is a dream.beyond my dreams. Thanks so much. Jimi forever 🎉

Jimi wanted the cover of the Axis Bold as Love album to be in the theme of american indians, but the designer misunderstood him for it to be in India style. By the time Jimi found out the covers were already in printing and to late to do anything about it.

They still haven't fully realized the enormity of Mozart's, Robert Johnson's, Beethoven's, Janice Joplin's or Chuck Berry's genius either. What makes those artists immortal is the fact that they give musicians the skeletal foundations that they are then forced by nature to build upon. Jimi fits that category. These people are called 'spiritual alchemists' and are born preprogrammed to expand the world's collective consciousness in one way or another, and when they finish the work they're then quickly removed from this plane. That's how dat sht goes.

Two things about the 2-3 days Jimi spent in NYC prior to Monterey Festival. There was a tune-up gig or rehearsal by the Experience in Greenwich Village at either Cafe Wha? or Cafe A-Go-Go, (I can't be certain which). From your timelines I believe it had to be on June 14th since you say Mitch and Noel didn't arrive until the 14th. Also, during this time the Mothers of Invention were doing shows at the Garrick Theatre, around the corner. There are photos of Jimi and Frank at this time. I understand they spent some time together exploring guitar pedals/effects. etc. The reason I'm contacting you is, during this time, June 13-15th, I along with a buddy were sixteen year old run-aways staying in Greenwich Village. On what is most likely the 14th, we were on the street and heard the wildest, most amazing guitar sounds coming from either of the two clubs mentioned, and stood outside in a small crowd listening. I asked someone who it was and he replied. "It's the Experience, man." I've relayed this experience over the years to friends and also on You Tube, and some find it hard to believe. Maybe Jimi was jamming with other musicians, or maybe it was all three doing a tune-up/rehearsal but it was as real as I'm sitting here, some 56 years later. Can you shed some light on this?

Thanks again. This is obviously a crucial month. Overlapping. Even if 6 was 9. The cutting of that so early. Cool. First I've ever heard that. Yes, it was freaky and eerie seeing Easy Rider. If one looks at the pics side by side at 19.38 you can see how much Jimi had aged. On the left is right before Isle of Wight. How many concerts in between leaving England and returning to England for the last time. Jimi once said something about the miles you've travelled as an indicator to wisdom or something. Too bad he couldn't have gotten some time off.

Its crazy to think that all the greatest musicians from the 60s knew that Jimi was the real 100% authentic genius he was. They all wanted to have him stay with them and jam with them. As far as originality and musicianship, nobody came close to Jimi imo, he was the top of Mount Everest.

If you think he sounds ahead now….I remember buying the first album, putting it on and being blown away. (By contrast I had been learning some BBKing). Hendrix was like an alien from another world. When he played Toronto there had been a flying saucer sighting the day before and he told the crowd “oh that’s just my parents coming to check up on me”. He was so fucking cool. And I am a lifelong musician guitar player inspired by Hendrix to this day!

Great that you were able to assemble all of this. I had heard of the sessions that had STP-LSD. Dice, sounds like his week after Monterey and the environment w/the other musicians opened doors in Hendrix mind. STars that Play is like Purple Haze X 5 and should really be the psychedelic drug anthem. The version on the 1st B+W Polydor release of Loose Ends is the best. There was one trip on that and it went on for 16 hours with 3 peaks. We could literally see people's faces sitting in their window seats on the airplane. And we were just getting started. Only youth could endure it. But out there, in that time on the West coast I bet it was magical. Jimi used it and expanded his playing into new horizons.

Thanks for this series on Jimi! I heard of a story where Jimi showed off to Pete Townsend right before they had to decide who would go up first at Monterey, that Jimi stepped on a chair playing guitar. Dunno if that's just hearsay or true. So much BS around. Just have read Noel's autobiography and that's a good guideline, like the Hendrix bible of course by Glebbeek and Shapiro.

Who is the narrator? This is a great back story Ty! Pls can you make a documentary about, or include in an episode, the impact that Jimi had on the world as a whole, not just musically. Helping to pave the way for equality for all. The Black Rights movements and the Anti Class discrimination movement. Enlightenment through psychedelia, promoting peace and the anti war movement. The Hippie Experiment; Drugs and the Sexual Revolution. What influences and experiences made Jimi who he was and his place bringing all these things together and bringing a new image of peace, harmony and Love. Fronting against all the prejudices within Society and ingrained within the hearts and minds, of the average common people. Jimi was more than just a musical wonderman, he was an awesome human being as well, living in a radically changing time. His life achieved far more for our Social Development, reaching far beyond, simple noise entertainment. He was a catalyst for “these changes”, his music a catalyst for his ideas and those of his wide world. He was a living microcosm and personified the Revolutions of the times and there were so many other great musicians and great people in those times that he was blessed to live. Was the Jimi Hendrix Experience the first, or one of the first, racially mixed Jrock bands? When Jimi first came to England, he was portrayed by the media as the “Jungle Wildman”. By the time he returned to the USA in 1967, he’d largely won over the hearts of Britain. A massive Change had happened. What was going on and what happened during Jimi’s stay in Britain? Had he not come to England and formed his band with Noel and Mitch, would he have been able to launch himself and win America? And would the force of hard right conservatism been checked and allowed our world today to become? Jimi’s impact on the world, has affected us all forever more and will always be under appreciated. The world wouldn’t be the same without him and we owe a ton of gratitude and Happiness for his life, today sadly, unbeknown and forgotten. 🎸🔥

Did anyone find that black strat, or that blue purple one that was stolen, must be worth millions now😢
@BELLY_BUTTON_WINDOW
@BELLY_BUTTON_WINDOW 7 месяцев назад
No, the 1968 Metallic Blue Fender Strat, was stolen sometime after the Singer Bowl concert. We know that because the photographs show him playing with it. The rest is a complete mystery. Is somebody sitting on a goldmine? That it, if it even still exists. Bottom line, there's no record of the serial number, so provenance could not be established. Cheers!

I know it’s a tech thing and nitpicking but 208 was always pronounced ‘Two - O - eight’. ‘Two hundred eight’ jars. Another good vid though.

* Correction* Your photo of Jimi Hendrix and Peter Tork is false. The person with Jimi is not Peter Tork but Rodney Bingenheimer, a famous Hollywood DJ/ nightclub owner/*hardcore groupie/ to which has the distinguished title of being known as the Mayor Of Sunset Strip. Ironically, because of his haircut and his height Rodney was used as a double for the back of his head for being a Davy Jones look alike for the Monkees tv series. However, this photo is not Peter Tork.

Who were the people allowed to make the decisions for all his British album covers? AYE cover was bland and basic, Axis cover was a terrible idea juxtaposing Hendrix with sacred Hindu imagery and Electric Ladyland cover was cheap and sordid. Seems these decisions were done behind the band's back and they only became aware of them after release and were rightly not too pleased with the results after producing groundbreaking music to go inside these badly judged album covers.

The record companies had no respect for the musicians, particularly young, long-haired, black musicians. Check out the Pink Floyd track "Have a Cigar".

Yes, but then so were most artists of that era, and whilst we have yet to cover it, Jimi was terribly reckless with money, and I don't mean excessively generous, but this will be covered in due course. Thanks for raising this interesting point. Cheers!
