I grew up listening to him sing but never knew what he was going through until hearing this online. What a shameful situation that he was treated like this, while making others rich. Sounds like he wasn't protected by the people who made their living off his talent...he didn't have one decent person in his working life or one decent friend. That's pitiful and doesn't speak well of the people who made their living off his talent. He had a beautiful voice.

If there's one thing that REALLY, REALLY puts as bug up my ass is when scumbags (i.e. the mob in this case) take out a perfectly decent person, which from what I gathered Jimmie Rodgers was. I like and know a number of artists from different genres, but never heard of Jimmie before this video. Damn near killed the poor guy...over money that HE was due!! @@mikes3827 He couldn't have been decent. Almost all of the associates shown in this videograph were satanists of one kind or another, and had done "bad things" to advance their careers. He couldn't have had that much contact with them without finding out that they were satanists, anti-Christians, atheists, witches, and so on. Too much contact for him not to have known. And to advance that high in the career he had to do "bad things" it is always a requirement among that network of "moguls" and controllers.

Thank you for this documentary about Jimmie Rodgers. In May of 2001, I interviewed both Jimmie and his manager (then in Branson) by telephone for our college newspaper's alumni column. There are several things mis-mentioned or not mentioned here that I will correct. Jimmie started at Clark College with the intention of becoming a mechanical engineer (his music class was secondary at the time) but was drafted to the Korean War during the first quarter of school. When he was sent back to The States, he was sent to Nashville which worked out well for his career. He said he always regretted not finishing college and advised others to do so. After Buddy Holly's 1959 death in a plane accident, Jimmie, who was close friends with Buddy, considered leaving the business and returned home to Camas to sort out his feelings. At the time of his being beaten in 1967 and left for dead, his manager and Col. Parker were in negotiations for Jimmie to appear with Elvis in Blue Hawaii. At that time, he already had 19 gold records! After the attack, it took 15 years for him to be able to walk without braces. In a two-year period, between his wife and him, they had five brain surgeries in a two-year period. Again, thank you for this documentary on one of our local boys! [Edited to correct 1958 to 1959.]

I live in and am a native of Vancouver, Washington which is a little less that 20 miles down river (that's the Columbia River) from Jimmie's hometown of Camas. I was about 11 years old when Honeycomb became a big hit and I do remember when the song was first being heard on the radio. It was a really big deal because Jimmie Rodgers was a local boy. Jimmie had such a great voice and we all loved his music and were very proud of him. I have known some facts about the tragedies that effected his life but you have added so much to that knowledge by the content of your video. Thank you so very much. I knew I remember him, his wonderful singing but then who knew he had gone through so much! What a Wonderful Man! I remember having a 1950's Party while living in southwest Virginia, & I put out hints for songs from back then. One of his songs was hardly ever guessed, & I couldn't believe it! I had a wind bottle & candy kisses sitting around the bottom of it, & no one guessed it (Kisses sweeter than wine.)

I remember his music. I heard some of it on the radio but mostly I remember learning some of his songs by my mom singing them all the time. I can almost hear her voice.

He was known as a great singer and good man. I thought he died from that police attack. Didn't now he was still alive. Where does he live now and who takes care of him. How is he doing today. I know people from Camus who work at the paper mill. The mill has laid off a lot of people and may close. I also knew another actor from Camus who was Tàrzan in one of the Tàrzan series. He gave me a dog that was supposed to be from a litter owned by Spencer Tracy, the actor. Small world. Didn't know Jimmie was born in 1933. I thought he was much younger than that. In spite of all his injuries he certainly aged well. Glad to know he is alive and I hope his children treat him well. God bless him always 🙏 He is a real star that brought happiness to a lot of people's lives 🌟👍🏼🎶🎹

"Honeycomb"- by Jimmie Rodgers (composed by Bob Merrill) was the very first 45 single I ever bought with my own money in 1957. I had just turned 7 years old. My older brother and his friends had turned me on to American 50's rock and roll which is my personal favorite genre wise but there was something about "Honeycomb" and its Folk Rock flavor that appealed to me. It wasn't until much later than I learned that the superb vocal quartet The Jordanaires sang back up on the record. The song still remains in my collection.

I adored Jimmie Rodgers from the moment I heard him sing...not only the many hits he had but so many of the songs on those old albums were truly wonderful. His demeanor was that of a soft-spoken and well-mannered country boy who had made it to the top of the heap...and the music heap was very tall in those early years. Music was in his blood and he sang in many a small club but he broke through his small-town roots and jumped to the pop charts with one song..."Honeycomb." What happened in Los Angeles that night will forever be a mystery to many people but one thing is crystal clear...Jimmie Rodgers had made a mark in music...one that will never be erased. Thanks once again for yet another great Bio on a person we all loved.

Dear mr. Skinner thank you for bringing this to light. He was one of my dad's favorite singers and honeycomb is just one of the most beautiful little songs ever made. How tragic that this was done to him and that Hollywood just let it happen. Of course everybody was afraid of ending up like him I guess. Just like the guy who played Superman he didn't kill himself they know he didn't.
