Great job, Jerry. My father was one of those US Marines in the Pacific Island campaign during WWII, and Eddie Albert has, consequently, held a special place in my heart. He was a gifted actor and a remarkable human being.
Having served in the Marine Corps , and having three tours in Vietnam, I will always remember Eddie as a war hero and then an actor, for his actions at Tarawa he should have gotten the Medal of Honor, he was truly a hero.
Mr. Skinner, my words cannot express how knowledgable, and great your videos are. You are also a great and entertaining nararater! Your voice is so soft and calming. I subscribed. Mr. Skinner Thank You!!!!!
Jerry you are the TRUE old school documentary narrator of classic actors tv shows and classic movies. Long live you and anyone after you to carry that torch. God bless you my friend.
ATTACK with Eddie Albert, Jack Palance, Lee Marvin, Buddy Ebsen. Great war film. Made with hardly any money in short time, but the incredible actors and talented cinematographer pulled it off.
My Uncle served on the same ship with Eddie Albert during WW2. Once I asked him what Mr. Albert was like and he told me he was the bravest man he had ever known.
I used to go to Eddie's house in the late 1970's, to service the pool. He had a big greenhouse in the backyard, filled with plants. I never once saw him. I did meet Alvy Moore (Hank Kimball), in 1994, 3 years before he died. He was a wonderful gentleman. I shook his hand, and told him that he played my favorite character on the TV show. Thanks for such an honorable tribute!!!
I dated Tom Lester, he was a sweetheart. We were neighbors in the same Apartment Complex in Burbank and he left notes on my windshield. Great guy, terrific actor.
A life well-lived: singer, sailor, circus performer, spy, soldier, husband, father, actor, comedian...there was no hat he did not wear, and wear well. Rest in peace, Eddie Albert.
Jerry Skinner you are just a master of knowledge, and such a Wordsmith. I really thoroughly enjoy your videos, I can't imagine how much intensive labor you must put into them to make them so great. Thank you
No matter how bright we may shine in this life we all age and fade with time, only hope, faith and love remain. Thank you for your honoring presentation
Jerry Skinner, Sir you are far and away my favorite story teller of all time. What a story here about one of my very favorite shows. TY Albert and thank you Jerry.
What a beautiful, wonderful man and his beloved Family. Eddie was a really genuine person and kept that his entire life. Death takes us all, so it is how you live your life that will be a lasting influence on others. God Bless and thank you for this thoughtful documentary, Mr. Skinner.
A beautiful presentation. Green Acres was one of the very best television comedy shows of all time. Every character was hilarious, even Arnold Ziffle 🐖
Arnold Ziffle I forgot about him. I wonder what he's doing now..probably retired and raising a family maybe. As I recollect he was a good looking boy.He certainly had the chops for the acting although he was a bit of a Ham.
A role model both on and off the screen, Eddie Albert lived a life untouched by scandal and misadventure. He was not just a great actor, he was a legend. Another stunning production by one of Web-media's finest gentlemen...Jerry Skinner...Thank-you...
HIS SON, Edward Albert Jr. shown at 24:30, had many acting roles, including a 1975 Golden Globe award as Goldie Hawn's blind boyfriend in "Butterflies Are Free."
I met Mr. Albert in the 1980s; he was doing a "whistle stop" campaign for a charity or non-profit organization. He was very energetic, and had the kind of karma that when he looked at you, it was direct and engaging. Thanks for the small bios of people you mention. I always love your videos, Mr. Skinner.
That was heartbreaking to hear. After numerous acts of heroism, he blamed himself for not getting weapons to a group of marines fast enough. Men like him are rare.
For the past 20 years, i have assisted my dad on anzac marches. In recent years the turnout has been much greater. It is heartwarming to see that community support. Sadly there are new immigrants who completely reject the sacrifices made by these veterans. Freedom comes with a cost. I owe these veterans a debt that can never be paid.
I met Eddie Albert in 1980 in Hollywood; he was a very charming man with that high voltage smile. This is a remarkable profile superbly done. Bravo! Jerry Skinner!!!
I was lucky enough to meet Eddie in 1999 when he was 93. I fell in love with Green Acres when I was 14 years old in 1998. In 1999 I asked my mom if we could go to L.A. to try and find Eddie Albert's house. She knew how much I loved Green Acres and she had always wanted to go to L.A. anyway, so we went. On our second day there, we were able to find his house by using a Hollywood Star map. (a map that shows where the stars live) When we found it, we stopped out in front to take pictures. He happened to be sitting at his dining room table and saw us out the window. We saw him get up and head towards the front door. He came out on the front porch and waved for us to come up, so we did. I told him how much I loved Mr. Douglas and Green Acres and had my picture made with him. I was in shock...I couldn't believe it was happening. He was so nice to do that for us. I'll remember that day for the rest of my life. :)
Great story , thanks for sharing , good to hear he did that for you and your mother , good to hear he was a kindly person , and I know All about those " HOLLYWOOD STARS MAPS " I've used them a few times myself , some locations are accurate and some don't live there anymore , found Marilyn Monroe's house , on Sunset Blvd, she had a " Heart Shaped Pool " in the Side Yard , also Kirk Douglas's house and James Stewart's house in Beverly Hills , Jerry West's & Wilt Chamberlain's house in the Hollywood Hills ,also AARON SPELLINGS GIANT MANSION on the top of the Hollywood Hills, thanks for the stories
Thank you for the valuable lesson in History of this great American; it is a story that needs to be heard by all especially those in our country who are trying to rewrite our history. Eddie will always be remembered by me as a Coastie Brother. Semper Paratus.
Greatest generation is a myth Russians beat Germany not u we did not even enter war until 3years after hitler invaded Russia 1000s of G I s deserted in Europe c book execution of private sloviek

@@jamesfrancis1950 : First, learn how to construct a proper, coherent sentence, moron! Second, Operation Barbarossa, (the invasion of the USSR), on June 22, 1941 by National Socialist Germany occurred. Guess what else occurred in 1941? The U.S. entry into WW2 in Dec. That's a whole lot less than 3 years after Barbarossa. You also say that "Russians" beat Germany. (Technically, it was the USSR, not just the "Russians".) Granted, I believe that to be true. Fully 80%+ of the German armed forces was lost on the Eastern Front. However, you must keep in mind that the USSR had nearly 3 times the population of Germany, was receiving vast quantities of logistics from mercilessly by American and bombers and pointless assertions go, yes it is true that there were desertions by GI's, but there were many desertions by soldiers in every army of the war. What about the millions of desertions by Soviet soldiers? Then there's Private Slovik. He was a deserter and a coward in the face of the enemy. He deserved to be executed. That being said, the military did not really want to execute him. No American soldier had been executed since the Civil War. But, Slovik kept pushing the issue, daring the military to execute him. Time and time again the Army gave him the opportunity to stop his nonsense and rejoin his unit, but he refused. So, they gave him his wish. You're talking about executing one American soldier for the entire war as being significant? Jesus, how old are you?
Eddie Albert was some kind of Man! What a Life. I recently seen Suzanne Pleshette interview about Eddie Albert and her guest starring on a 1974 Columbo episode. At the time Peter Faulk had a beef with the producer over wanting to Direct the show. Faulk behaved very unprofessionally, caused delays, and was flat out obnoxious. Pleshette said everyone was inhibited about confronting Faulk who had been her friend for decades. Pleshette said that when Faulk finally showed up to work Eddie Albert walked up to Faulk in front of the entire crew and said " Peter I always admired your work and was very excited to finally get a chance to work with you, but I must say in all my decades of being an actor you are the biggest ass Ive ever met". Eddie Albert was a a real Man. Thanks for posting the vedio. Well done. .
Mr Jerry I enjoy your videos immensely and my father who I've got my love of history from is going to recovery process right now and I'm going to sit down and share your videos with him and I do believe he's going to love them more than I do thank you so much for your hard work and thank you so much for some beautiful stories you give us
@@marjoriegarner5369 Agree. That's the point I was trying to make (hence, the quotation marks). In contrast, "heroes" like "John Wayne", widely regarded as emblematic of the American fighting man, never served because he was the first down to finesse his draft board after Pearl Harbor.
The narrator is a great storyteller, I could listen to him all day w/o getting tired of his voice.... I was 10yrs old when "GREEN ACRES" aired.... My sisters & brothers and I just loved singing the Theme song...... "Green acres is the place to be, farm living is the life for me "+++++++
My former Am. Legion commander (he passed 2 years ago) was on Tarawa and Saipan. He was awarded 2 silver stars for his action on Tarawa and 2 purple hearts on Saipan. I cannot imagine the horrors both him and your father endured.
@Huawei is a criminal organization. He might have gotten one on Saipan. I didn't question him about them I just saw the medals. I have the picture of him being awarded one of them as we used it on his honor flight biography when he went in 2011.
What of my favorite memories of Eddie Albert was his role in the movie _Teahouse of the August Moon_ where he and Glen Ford geek out about organic gardening. You could tell they were having fun shooting that scene.
I was privileged to hear the poorest, yet most heartfelt speech of my life given by Eddie at the Farm and Ranch Congress in St. Lois in 1985. He spoke directly from the heart and had many in the crowd tearful. I will never forget his dedication to farmers. Thanks for this wonderful tribute.
Thank you Mr. Skinner for entertaining video about Eddie Albert and the Green Acres cast. When I was a child Green Acres was one of my favorite TV shows.
Another great biography Gerry, sad ending with his son being only 55 when he died. Thank you for all the time you spend doing these love to listen to your voice it’s so calming.❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧
Great video!! I learned a lot about Eddie Albert that I didn't know. What an honorable man he was. Brave, caring, funny and loyal. They don't come any better than that.
Thank you so much for this wonderful and inspiring message about a War Hero-Husband-Father and his family. Green Acres will go down as one of the best. No Drama, just good old laughs and slap slick.
He was great as the cowardly officer opposite tough guy Jack Palance. Maybe he'd witnessed an officer like that in his distinguished military career. Top actor.
"Attack" was the picture he played a coward officer. What a performance you come away hating him and glad his men shot him. Only a great actor can pull that off, even better hero.
@@Joe-uo9wv I absolutely agree! I wanted to "pump" a few rounds into him, as well!! It was, indeed, a brilliant performance, and he should have received an Academy Award!
@@roygonzalez4367 Roy - Eddie should have received an Academy Award for his magnificent performance! I wanted to pump a couple of rounds into him as well! It takes great acting to provoke a reaction like that!
Green acres, is the place to be! Farm living is the life for me! Land spreadin out so far and wide! Keep Manhattan just give me that country side!.... (Hey, this was my show at 4 years old) I loved it dearly!! 🏆
Thank you. I grew up watching Green Acres. Eddie Albert was so much more. I had no idea he was a WWII war hero. Peace be with you Eddie and your family. MLS 💗
My grandmother Helen Steiner (Bakke) also graduated from Minneapolis Central High School class of 1926 and had classes with both Eddie Albert and Ann Southern.
I'm so pleased that Green Acres was aired over here in the UK. When I was a little girl, I loved this series. This documentary has been a joy to watch, bringing back fond memories. What an amazing man Mr Albert was and his amazing achievements on and off the screen. So sad about Edward Jr after being such a dedicated son. Rest peacefully, all of you. Thank you, Mr Skinner, for making and sharing this video.
Well-said. I loved it too, and TV today, stinks in comparison. I enjoyed my time in the U.K., but never knew this was aired on TV there, at least at one time. I’m sure that was well before my time there.
Sorry but there's nothing heroic about being a hired government assassin for billionaire bankers destroying lives and family's. puke up that kool aid & undo your brainwashing.
@@acgillespie Im not trying to offend anyone, but The Truth is The Truth Whether its popular or not. I Would suggest the r. eading of Maj. General Smedley Butlers book WAR IS A RACKET.
I dont want anyone to get the idea that I in any way was trying to dimi ish Eddy Alberts service and heroism. Those were dangerous times. What I was agreeing with is that ALL Wars are the doings of the evil international banking cartel. A mafia that took over the United States Government Dec. 23rd 1913.
All true acgillespie, predictive programing, brainwashing I know. BUT, I dont want to turn Mr. JERRYS Chanell into something besides the focus on His fine work. HIGH IMPACT VLOGS. Is the best Ive ever found for The Truth May GOD help us all
Green Acres was my favorite show as a kid. I lived on my Grandmother's farm. You're always so respectful with all the biographies you do. Thank you so much.
Outstanding actor, devoted husband; aside from the Red Scare, his life was devoid of scandal. He downplayed his war service. Too bad we dont have more actors like him. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸⚘💖
I swear the last several videos came just days after not being able to find anything interesting to watch and for whatever reason i get a thought of you and how/where you have been. Thinking "Jerry hasn't had a video in awhile", Next thing i know you go and post a video. Always a pleasure.
Sad ending reminds me how my dad past away from Alzhiemers watched him pass away as with my mother two years later of the same month was very heart breaking..
I UNDERSTAND. My dad died 2007. HOW CAN our FAMILY be so SMART die with NOT KNOWING to even how to eat. GOD BLESS YOU SIR. GOD GIVES the STRENGTH. In JESUS'S NAME. THANK YOU.
I got to shake hands with Eddie Albert as well as change his tire when I was about 25 what a nice person. He tried to tip me for helping him on the side of I-95 in Florida I told him no thanks I didn't stop to make money just to help he said to me it was nice to see that there was some good people out here still and that I was one of them. for me that meant more to me than money did.
