How did you spend your quarantine? Jimmy Buffett asked the fans to tell him which songs, not in his usual repertoire, would they like to hear? Within minutes, over 10,000 tracks were requested. Some songs he had to re-learn as it's been so long since he played them! Directed by Jimmy's daughter, Delaney Buffett, the docuseries is an inside look of the stories and inspirations of the songs.
The series has become a fan favorite which of course evolved into recording his favorites with producer/bandmate Mac McAnally and Coral Reefers Peter Mayer and Eric Darken. Available at: smarturl.it/SYDKBH

So happy Delaney allowed us into her father's life by recording these videos and stories. Sorry for your loss, as I am sure you're aware your father touched a lot of hearts and he will be missed but not forgotten.

This has always been one of favs. Quick story, after a show in Detroit which Jimmy did not sing this song, we were in a mini mart and I started singing this song and on the other side of the aisle someone I never met started singing along. We completed the whole song and then went on our merry way.

I am so very greatful that Jimmy, and Delaney were able to record this series. The stories behind some of his less known songs (although I still will hold today, that a true Parrot Head will know all of the songs you don't know by heart, by heart). Jimmy lived as carefree as we can only hope, and I think that is why he kept hidden his own health struggles, he didn't want to worry and burden us with them. I was born a Parrot Head, and will die a Parrot Head, may Jimmy RIP.

Family Buffet, I am so very sorry for the passing of the magnificent man of Margaritaville Jimmy..🐦 Thank you for sharing your husband and dad with all of us. I became a Parrothead as a kid in 1974 and I couldn't wait until I grew up so I could go to one of Jimmy's concerts. It took a little longer, I was in my mid 20s before I could actually get a pair of tickets, back then I was always at work and I could never just go and stand in line for tickets.( old days). It was the best concert I've ever been to. It was like you entered a special city of camaraderie, joy laughter, dancing and checking out all the unique people dressed in cool outfits. I saw tiki bars set up in parking lots, beaches created in the back of pickup trucks with sand, inflatables of all types, sounds of blenders making margaritas with shark fins on heads, fake parrots on people's shoulders and lots of Hawaiian shirts and girls with grass skirts.. I would have loved to have gone to more concerts but unfortunately here he sold out within minutes and I never got another chance. But it didn't stop me from listening to every new album and always falling in love with his lyrics and music. You are all in my thoughts, heart and prayers and may you be surrounded by love and comforting from those who love you! As always Love, Fins Up, Bubbles up and remember Wrinkles will only go where the smiles have been. 🐦 🌸 🦈 🌺 🌴 🦐 🌈 ❤

Before I'd even heard of Jimmy, I met a couple of Peace Corps guys in Paraguay who sang this song way back in 1976. It was catchy enough that I could sing the chorus after hearing it once. Then of course there have been decades of enjoying Jimmy's music since then. We'll miss you, Jimmy.

Please consider this...one way of honoring Jimmy would be to have Zac, Kenny, or Alan lead a concert tour with the full Reefer band for a year. One caveat....the fans must be allowed to tail-gate as we always have! We would have all the parts for a full Jimmy show, minus The GOAT. If none can commit to a year long tour, EACH lead for 4 months! I think Jimmy would approve.

I think Delaney captured the real Jimmy (dad) Buffett. I will never forget leaving a concert and we had a long walk to our car. We ended up going a long way around the venue and just as we got to a place near our car a limo came past with the window down and it was Jimmy wishing us a good night and thanking us for coming. I will never forget that moment how he was one of us. Not a celebrity to high to connect with his people.

I was watching a video a couple of weeks ago of life in the Philippines. It was hosted by a RU-vidr name The Fillipina Pea. In the video I saw a sign across a building that said Mini Mart. This song immediately popped into my head. My family starting with my oldest brother John have been listening to Buffett for years. I miss those days of concerts, family camp trips with Buffett music playing all weekend long, party's with the Detroit parrot heads. Sadly my brother died over a year ago and tonight I cried so hard remembering those days.

If anyone is ever struggling with the definition of Morality here you have the answer. The man's morality is unquestionable. Aside for his artistic genius, there has always been a look in his eye that say I love life, fun, everything and I love being and doing right. His understanding, acceptance and humility shine through. He knew what he did was not right, he understood his situation and had to survive and he did what he could do to right the wrong. But. But perhaps most importantly he had the humility, not as a genius music star or a very rich man or a very famous man, he had the humility as a man to make a public apology. What a gift to us all. It is never too late to open your heart and search and find the answer and shine the light from within to illuminate the good that lives deep inside.

1:51 In my hometown, there was a shifting core of musicians forming "the band" (regardless of the advertised name) - EVERY one of them, shoplifting some grubs, would boast how - IF they hit Big Fame - they'd pull up there in a limo, tell the owner how the store had kept them alive, and give them ""$10K" for the store keeping them going. HaHa (Sadly, though there was genuine talent, none were able to fulfill the vow.) As a C-store worker of MANY years, I appreciate this song via the nostalgic, ironic promises of the hard-luck heroes who didn't make the break and their likely BS assurances!

I was hoping someday that Jimmy would perform nearby and I'd be able to sneak backstage and meet him and beg him to allow me to duet this and a few other classics. He has been one of my childhood favorites since my dad would play his CD's when my parents would have friends over and I'd hear them playing from my bed. I later got his CD's after my dad's death, and now with Amazon music and youtube I've been duetting him in my bed for almost 20 years now as well as singing to some karaoke tracks.. Why don't we get drunk, and Margaritaville.. But I also have this and great filling station holdup memorized and it's part of my bedtime ritual to belt these out with my echo show playing in bed before I go to sleep. I considered Jimmy a national treasure, and his passing has removed a great man from our lives. and when my time finally comes I am hopeful that he will grant me the honor of a duet so my dad can see the legacy he passed on to me. but I know my Dad is duetting him singing Why don't we get drunk, which was my father's favorite.. :) Rest in Peace Jimmy.
