American here-the first I’d ever heard of Jimmy’s tax problems was on Cats, when it was one of the topics of the week. When Jimmy said, “In my defense-well, I got nothing”. I had to look up the story, and my respect for him for that statement went sky high! More people ought to do that. Anyway, I’ve liked him ever since. You’ve got me as a fan, Jimmy!

Sean roasting Jimmy over tax avoidance is one of the greatest acts of friendship I've ever seen.

When jimmy talks about ‘call on the day’….. even if you say “ I don’t know what to say”…. Call’em on the day. My Mother battling cancer…said the exact same thing! “Son, no matter what… call them…even if you say ‘I didn’t know what to say’ at least acknowledge what they’re going through” It means more than we know. It shows empathy, in a difficult time. ❤

Jimmy, I love you so much, you are genuinely one of my favourite comedians, even if I get uncomfortable on occasions (which is one of the things I love about your comedy) … but please, please, please stop saying you were cancelled on multiple occasions … you weren’t. As someone who was cancelled for very personal financially related reasons, and it took 14 months to even get a hint of something (in a very different world to comedy) the only thing I’ve ever been offended by you is the “I’ve been cancelled” … otherwise mate you are the fkn bomb, absolutely loved your new Netflix show, keep up the awesome!!

Maybe this news just didn't make it to the states but I hadn't even heard about this tax thing with Jimmy Carr until earlier this year. I'm still not even sure what happened exactly. Lol and even in the states, I watch a lot of British comedy. Countdown and 8/10 Cats is one of my favorite shows, Big Fat Quiz and such, I enjoy Jimmy very much, I had no idea he was canceled.

Jimmy wasn’t canceled in 8 out of 10 cats but you don’t know if there were other projects or gigs that were in the works that he lost.

yyYYees finally (0:28) Jimmy says what we've all thought off Cameron for doing that, "called out" well Cameron likely just had people better able to hide where Cameron moves his earnings away from HMRC. (Tid bit on the "HMRC"; I googled it to be sure it was correct, and it was, just, I am Swedish, such that I've never had anything to do with British tax and that, kinda funny, due to Jimmy Carr being barked at for tax avoidance and I've seen RU-vid videos so many times over, that I had the "HMRC" printed into my memory) Also due to "Have I got news for you" and other British content I am more aware of the british politics, and the recent joke that have been "the British PM post" (May-Liz-Boris), (oh and FYI Sweden have had a similar issue with "no-good PM" just prior to our last election where we had to do a re-election so the UK is not the only place to have such issues with electing twits for PM post) All that to say that I am quite aware of how moronic Cameron was to piss on Jimmy Carr, when he dam well have done the very same thing. Really a case of "glass house".

Carr crosses my personal line of bad taste on occasion. I groan, then I listen to more of his act, and I'm soon laughing again. I 100% agree with what he says. Either you find the joke funny or you don't, but it's just a joke.

If I could get past the fact that he looks like a young Riohard Nixon...yeah, most folks do not have the burden of remembering and hating Nixon. Splendid comedian though. Which is what makes his resemblance to Nixon all the stranger.

He wasn't cancelled. He's been the host of 8 out of 10 cats since 2005 he's hosted big fat quiz every year since 2004. He's done 5 comedy specials since the tax scandal. Cancelled is such an overused term, essentially when any faces even mild criticism they claim they've been can cancelled.

The funny thing is, I don't enjoy his overtly disgusting side very much - but when he talks about free speech, people letting their feelings get hurt and such, he makes more sense and becomes more entertaining. My friend got cancelled :( he was stealing in a shop and got caught. Unfortunately for him strategy "I fucked up. Let just I will give You stolen stuff back" didn't work. I liked Jimmy as comedian and even as a person. But this constant "everybody wants to cancel me all the time" bs just made him unlikable.

At the end of the day if he didn’t get caught he’d still be doing it to this day and he wouldn’t have any issue with it. It’s only because he’s been found out that the apologies come with the “terrible error in judgment” crap. There is a difference between satire and comedy. A lot of comedians seem to do satire without realizing it. What I mean by satire is any comedy that forces you to pronounce on the value of something. Even here Jimmy uses the words ,Tory c*nt. Dark comedy is not predicated on foul language.. When laurel and Hardy fall off a ladder they are being funny, when you call someone a derogatory phrase or use it to tell a joke, it is much less obvious whether you mean it or whether you have to mean it in context of the joke for the joke to work. Jimmy if you read this I love you, but it has nothing to do with your comedy, you're a great host and an adorable person, if that isn't good enough for the people who are thinking of hiring you, I'm sorry, but being outrageously funny has a lot less to do with why people like to see Jimmy Carr. It is more about your overall persona and it's inclusion into what is available as entertainment. If you tell a Joke or say anything that people don't like, that should always be naturally disconcerting and never ignored.

Jimmy's not canceled. He's just using that as an excuse. Every single show, "Oh this next joke is getting me canceled" ... and then delivers a bad line. Some laugh, some don't. Move on. Stick to hosting and roasting shows.

Jimmy thinks he got cancelled because he had to take some jokes for a couple of weeks. Compare and contrast to Angus Deaton who had to face a couple of weeks of jokes about it, and then got fired and I don’t think he’s been back on TV since.
