New York Giants fan here, Jimmy Johnson truly deserves the honor of being inducted into the Dallas Cowboys’ Ring of Honor. He’s definitely one of the greatest head coaches in pro football history. If there was anyone whose face belongs on a Mount Rushmore meant specifically for NFL head coaches, it has to be him.

I am so proud of Jimmy Johnson. I am from his home town, Port Arthur, Tx, he has a road named after him to honor his greatness. Lastly, he is humble, in 1996 after he left Cowboys he was eating in cafeteria called Luby’s on a Saturday. As a member of the Texas Air Guard we ate there. I saw him with his mom and dad. As a Cowboys fan wanted to meet him so I went over to his table and apologized for interrupting their lunch asked for his autograph on my military hat. He graciously accepted and said thank you for serving.I thanked him and gave a closing with “ Jerry messed up allowing you to leave the Cowboys”, he looked back at up me and smiled, shook my hand, said “I know”…

That's an awesome story. I've been to Port Arthur on at least four separate occasions. I first went to PA because I was - and still am - a huge Jimmy Johnson fan. When I went to the Museum of the Gulf Coast to check out his exhibit and marble bust, I ran into a lady who worked there. Her and I have been great friends ever since. As a result, I visit PA almost every second year. I live in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada.

Jimmy Johnson was the best coach cowboys ever had Jerry Jones fucked up when he fired Jimmy Johnson
@wv8071
@wv8071 9 месяцев назад
He very well may be the best coach the Cowboys have had. Yet, is it possible that you are saying that because you were not familiar with Tom Landry. Landry won two Super Bowls also.
@kennethstanley9462
@kennethstanley9462 9 месяцев назад
@@wv8071 I'm 100% agree. I grew up in the late 60's, 70's watching the Cowboys and Tom Landry was just ahead of it's time as the HC of the Cowboys and those Cowboys teams in the 70's were just as good as the 90's Cowboys team and it's no disrespect at all to the 90's Cowboys team because they were a great team but it something about those Cowboys teams in the 70's that competed and always had a chance to go to the SB every year.
@wv8071
@wv8071 9 месяцев назад
@kennethstanley9462 Thank you for that. I grew up in the 80s and 90s. Tom Landry was highly respected, but Danny White was never able to get it done. It wasn't because he didn't have the players either. I remember Tony Dorsett, Ed "too tall" Jones, Randy White, Everson Walls, Bill Bates, Herschel Walker, and other notable players. White just couldn't duplicate what his mentor, Roger Staubach, had accomplished.
@briancusack4386
@briancusack4386 Месяц назад
@wv8071 Coach Landry was unlucky in the sense that he 'only' won two Super Bowls. Dallas definitely should have beaten Baltimore in SB 5. As for SB 13, the Cowboys were on the receiving end of some horrendous calls by the officials. Coach Landry could have - and probably should have - won four Lombardi trophies in the 1970s.

28 yrs Jerry, and not one visit to the NFC Championship doing it your way. Numbers dont lie! We all know who knows football and who doesn't. The one who does is going in the ring tonight!

@kennethstanley9462 9 месяцев назад
You said the key word 28 yrs. Jerry is very stubborn, that's just straight facts and I don't care who disagree. Jerry knows as much about football than we do, the one that is in the ROH knows football not Jerry but because of his ego and never get the credit he decided to fired Jimmy Johnson and that's why to this day I still despised him. Putting Jimmy in the ROH still doesn't end the curse until he hires a real GM and football personnel.

Jerry Jones, that's why. He was always jealous of Jimmy and it cost the cowboys probably a couple more Superbowls in the 90s. Not to mention he would have drafted Randy Moss since he was the GM as well before Jerry took that position after firing him.

Listening to these 2 guys talk I've finally figured out what happened to the cowboys and why they haven't won a SB since Jimmy left. Its clear now Cowboys Nation. Since Jimmy left the whole team became a bunch of p@#$y's and divas. Jim held everyone of those players accountable and they knew their position wasn't guaranteed any given Sunday. They worked out in the cold, in the heat, rain it didn't matter. Now a days players get to go inside and avoid the elements or if it's too cold or rainy and back then Jim & Jerry built champions and dynasties by being tough on the players and bringing in winners who wanted to win and not get paid. He rid the locker room of players that have a losers mentality and who wasn't all in on Jimmy's plan to win Super Bowls.
@williamunknown7209

Jerry Jones fired Jimmy immediately after the Cowboys won back to back Super Bowls because he got his feelings hurt that Jimmy was getting more credit than he was for the Cowboys success. I honestly believe this childish idiotic move by Jerry Jones cost the Cowboys at least two more Super Bowl victories, but it is good to see Jimmy finally get his deserved place in the Ring of Honor!

Jones’ body language says it all. He looks very uncomfortable, positioning on the chair. Johnson was a great coach and Jones micromanager tendencies chased him right out of the game.
