To Jimmy, and to whoever else reads this, I simply have to mention this. It's been haunting me for years and I've never really spoken about it. My youngest sister was at that show. She flew from California to Las Vegas specifically to attend this concert, along with her long time boyfriend as well as some friends. Before the concert started, while it was still daylight outside, she had posted several photos on facebook from the show. They were all sitting on the grass and having a great time. I had never really been a big fan of country music, so being her big brother and seeing those pictures , I had commented on those posts giving her crap about being there and trying to be funny or something and joke around. That's what big brothers do most of the time to their siblings I guess. Maybe it's just us. I don't know. We've just always been like that. We've just always given each other a hard time kidding each other. I didn't think about it again that night and went to bed feeling that my job as her big brother was done for the day. Living about 3 time zones away to the east, I was sound asleep already. I received a terrifying phone call in the middle of the night telling me what had happened. None of my family could reach her. Being so far away, I couldn't do anything at all but cry, pray, and wait for a call from her, someone, anyone to let me know that she had made it out alive. I finally got that call about an hour and a half later. She was alive. One of her friends (sitting exactly beside her) was hit by a bullet. After being in surgery for quite a while, she came through as well. I dropped to my knees and thanked God. I thank the brave men and women who had run directly INTO danger to help who they could, and did their best to save those who didn't make it out. I grieve, and my heart breaks, for the families and loved ones of those that didn't. Just remember that all of us who have experienced loss, we will all meet again someday. I look forward to meeting all of your loved ones, as I am looking forward to reuniting with mine. May God bless you all, and thank you for all of the heartfelt words of comfort and love, Jimmy....

My brother in law was shot and is in critical condition 😞 my cousins had to hide on a roof. And my moms good friend died. My prayers go out to everyone injured. People are so damn sick

People give Jimmy crap but he's such a soft hearted person... He's just brimming with empathy. It's admirable to see a man willing to be truly emotional on tv and just be himself

Jimmy is one of the rarest male entertainer that isn't afraid to show his emotion on live tv. I think he's a really special person. And some comments here are simply stupid awful and mean.

Two people were murdered there who lived so close to me.. I live in BC, Canada, this broke my heart this morning. People have travelled so far to enjoy a night filled with music, dancing and laughter..😔

I just want to say that as a person close to Jimmy’s age, growing up, I was told crying is a weakness...and “ohhhhh what are you gonna do, cry about it?!?! That solves nothing!” And I adore the fact Mr. Kimmel is comfortable expressing normal human emotions in public and private. I wish I could.

He is genuinely heartbroken... and shows true empathy. He is so good at conveying the thoughts... most of us feel. Thank-you Jimmy for being real.

I remember watching this on the news here in alberta Canada and we just couldnt imagine this happening and the fact we were in Vegas years before was scary. Wanted to let people know that canadians were thinking of you at that time too!

Jimmy, it's alright to let out your emotions. It's more healthy to show emotion than to hold it in and let it hurt. I find it very brave you did this. You have my sympathy and people should hear this. I don't hope for it to get better, I want it to get better, and you talking about it is one giant step forward. Jimmy has been a real beacon of hope lately. Everything he is saying seems like common sense but we live in a country that seems to have lost all sense.

Seeing him so, idk.... raw I guess was very heartwarming. I remember this happening but curiously left my mind til I looked up a documentary on it and now I keep getting suggestions about it. He almost had me in tears 3+ years later. Not very religious but I hope the victims are in a better place and that the survivors and relatives/friends of the deceased are doing their best to get thru this.

I can’t imagine what Vegas was going through. But I can tell you how Lawrence was going through. I worked it. It’s never something I hope anything anyone has to go through.

However this is exactly the time to speak politics to acknowledge the lives lost and make a difference on their behalf, that's how we will respect their loss. 59 innocent people died last night, it's time to make a change.

Well, we are in trouble, but not because of Jimmy. I've become such a big fan of this man over the last few months. His heart and his moral center are so clearly in the right place. There's no posturing, no self-promotion. You can tell that he only is speaking out of his deep personal grief over the state of our world and nation, and he has used his platform as best he can to try to protect Americans from the federal government's neglect of our shared humanity and rights to life, liberty, and happiness.
