It still amazes me how a sports show like this has some of the most poignant commentary on current events like this. This is why it's the best show in sports. Respect to the hosts for talking about this and thoughts are with the families and everyone affected by the terrible events today. We need change.
For those who don't know by now, Steve Kerr's father Malcolm was murdered by gunmen in Beirut Lebanon in 1984 while serving as a professor at American University. So this topic is not 'put on' for him in the slightest. 18 children. I am a teacher. My students got a tighter hug than usual from me at dismissal. What world are we setting them up for?
@@cyberft As a teacher, I never want to have to kill another person. Even if it’s in defense, even if I’d be considered a “hero,” I still don’t want to kill a person.
It's not a teachers job to tote guns and defend children from psychopaths. Problem stems from home life, loss of faith in the country as well as ignoring or not identifying mental illness. I'm not a Bible thumper, or too religious but what I do agree about catholicism is the belief in family and community. The farther we get away from being "In God We Trust" the more and more this will happen. If they take away our guns, they will have knives and cars.
"the demonic mind is illogical" Kenny was on point with that statement. When I think about the narcissist that I came across in the past and all the evil stuff they would do it was totally illogical and irrational and petty and stupid. That statement is SO TRUE!

You want Texans to yell like a braindead leftist? Maybe they'll consider it when the NBA speaks out against China rather than handpicked topics like supporting BLM which was a bunch of nonsense, and taking away our guns so their Chinese masters can have an easier time taking us over
Coach Kerr’s message was powerful and needed to be said. Hope more players and staff in the league can continue this, great role model and a respectful man!
I believe his father was shot and killed in beirut when he was teaching overseas so I understand why steve kerr is devastated over recent gun violence.
Steve Kerr was holding back man. This hits him hard...his father. Hes thinking about him. Hes thinking about everyone who's impacted in the past and in the present. This needed to be said. You the man Steve!
Thank you Kenny! Not every evil act is a result of mental health issues. Some acts are simply evil. And yes I believe that mental Illness needs to be addressed as well. All of these guys spoke nothing but facts!
Except it takes a mental illness to be able to kill a person out of anything but necessity let alone a group of people, evil doesn’t mean anything it’s just a word. Sure I do think evil people by the loose definition exist but that’s just life and unfortunately there will always be murderers and people who commit violent crimes. When you get into mass killings it always stems from one of two things which are mental illness or an extremist in a religion, or both at the same time

Very strict high capacity gun and assault rifle background checks (like letters from professionals who know you ie doctors, teachers, bosses) to vouch for your stability, and very hard checks for ammunition!!! May those sweet, sweet, dear little children not die in vain like so many have done, how many people must be sacrificed for some crazy idealistic out grown mutations of 250 years ago when some protection/food providing had to be maintained. 😭😭😭😭😭😭

I don't usually give a damn about sports, but this one got me. Thank you, NBA for talking about this tragedy. I live in a big city in Texas, but I'm not so far from small towns like Marble Falls and Llano. Towns like that are a big part of how I grew up as a kid, visiting my grandparents. My heart breaks for Uvalde. My brother died when he was just a baby, and I saw what that did to my parents. That kind of tragedy changes people; they became their worst selves and never quite righted themselves. If you haven't experienced it, you can't imagine. I'm grateful the NBA is willing to use its pulpit to speak about this

My condolences to the 19 children and 2 teachers, and the parents/friends/relatives to all of them. Such a tragic event, people want to say how that they were mostly Latino that were killed or something and that since they were that their lives don't matter as much. Apparently if you're a person of color then you are never safe in this nation. This country will never be made for people of color. This country will never favor or accommodate people of color. People who are white are always safe and always in better hands in this country than any other race. It's sad. This comment isn't hate against white people. Facts are facts. Lies are lies. It's tiring that we keep saying things must change but things won't ever really change. In the constitution, it says for the people, by the people...where is there examples of that? There's 50 senators who could inflict change but they won't.
I've always respected Steve Kerr as a player and a coach, but I respect him a hell of a lot more for being a good human being (let alone Shaq, Ernie, Chuck, and Kenny)
Steve was shouting a false conclusion. Protecting the second ammendment doesn't make anyone guilty of "holding power". look up hr 127 these democrats wanted to pass. Total complete infringments on law abiding citizens.
The same Steve Kerr that had nothing to say about Hong Kong oppressing its citizens when the NBA was in town, but takes the safe political stance because he know's it'll put him on a pedestal ? Lets be real here, Steve Kerr, like 99% of the NBA, takes safe political stances that won't hurt their wallets or reputation among their peers. They're actually pussies in real life.
Good humans and responsible gun overs save on average 3m lives a year. No law put in place would have prevented this from happened. The kid had no background and wasn't on a watch list. @@mr.gainzzz1900 In a well-adjusted society, everyone would agree to have all those guns gathered up and melted down. Needless to say, the U.S. is a deeply deeply sick society.
What Shaq said was what I was thinking about and also one of my fears of why this will never end: the underground market. Even if they ban assault weapons, criminals always find a way to do criminal activity. Making something illegal isn't going to stop bad people from doing illegal things
That maybe true! But they are making it easier to get weapons, not hard! Because they are in gun lobbyist pocket! Which they are big part of the problem. You said that now sir! But what would you say if your kid was killed in school like that! You see when it hits home then you want to change things When it's your family and the politicians family they you wanted to change things.
You say that but weirdly enough places with stricter gun control or no guns at all don't have even a fraction of these tragic events happening. Like in Uvalde it was a 18 year old kid, you think this shithead is 'deeply connected to the criminal underground and black market' ? Ofc not. It's stupid. The whole 'criminals will still find a way is a weak excuse to not act.
This is why the Thompson submachine gun continues to be the weapon of choice for robberies and violent crimes. Oh wait no we cracked down on automatic weapons and they are incredibly difficult (not impossible) to get and use. Gun regulations work. Don't let perfection get in the way of progress.
Why doesn’t the media show the same support for family who’s member was executed by c*ps? Someone is m*rdered daily by police officers and no one wants to disarm them, it seems a bit hypocritical if you ask me. Could these alleged “shootings” be a theatrical production used by the real criminals (g*v*rnm*nt) to manipulate and deceive the people into requesting guns be taken out of the hands of law abiding men and women? Many of the people who want guns out of the hands of Americans claim to be Christian and love the Constitution but don’t realize they hate freedom, Jesus, and the Constitution whom they claim to love. “A double minded man is unstable in all of his ways.” These same people are Communist, that hate our Republic (the people are in control) and love Democracy (mob ruled). I always think after this kind of shooting ("funnily" in schools), when's the next one going to come from ? All you see on the news (and it's been going on for decades) is destruction, wars, mass killings and the like. With covid and the aftermath of it, these shootings will just escalate. The US is a violent country. When the US government doesn't like someone like Kadhafi or Saddam Hussein they kill him, killing hundreds of thousands in the process. Sorry, violence is in the US 's gènes. Funnily enough, the only american president who didn't start one for decades was Trump... Biden hasn't declared a war ? Yes he has, with Russia. What do you call what he's doing ? I'd be Poutine I'd be kicking my a** for not sending as much weaponry to Iraq in 2003 as to help kill as many american soldiers as possible which is Bidens rhetoric (kill as many russian soldiers as possible).

How can we expect God to give us His blessing and protection if we insist that He leave us alone? » Regarding recent events (terrorist attacks, killings in schools, wars, etc.) I believe it started with Madeleine Murray O'Hair (she was murdered) who complained that she no longer wanted prayer in schools, and we said YES. Then another said we shouldn't read the Bible in school the same Bible that teaches "Thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love thy neighbor as thyself" and, we said YES. Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said that we shouldn't hit our children when they do bad things because their little personalities would be distorted and we might damage their self-esteem. (The son of the same doctor committed suicide). They say an expert should know what they are talking about no matter what they tell us and we said YES. Now we wonder why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, why they can emotionlessly kill strangers, parents or themselves. Probably that by dint of deep reflections, we will come to the conclusion that it has to do with the principle of "reaping what you sow"! It's funny how easy it is for people to reject God and then wonder why their world is turning into hell, how we believe everything the papers say and question everything the Bible says . It's funny how we can email jokes that spread like wildfire, but when you send messages about God, people think twice about sharing them. It's funny how lewd, rude, vulgar and obscene articles are spread so easily and freely but public discussions of God are suppressed in schools and businesses. It's funny how when you read this email, you probably won't send it to many people in your address book because you don't know what they believe in or what they will think of you. It's funny how we care more about what people think of us than what God thinks of us. Share this message if you think it's worth it, if not throw it away? No one will know! But if you throw away that thought process, don't complain about the bad state of the world we live in! GOOD MEDITATION
I'm from Houston. My dad is a Hard man. Tough worker and hard as nails old school truck driver and I've never seen him cry... When he got home he was holding back tears asking my mom if she heard about what happened in Uvalde. He then called my little sister and he gave her the longest hug I've ever seen him give her. These were little kids man. last day of school down here in Houston. This is tough to stomach man, just thinking and looking at the grief the parents are going through rn knots up my stomach so bad I haven't eaten all day. R.I.P Little ones and the adults who lost their lives too.
For real, I was confused because I'm Australian, I thought I misheard but it really was the last day of school ? Bro.... 🥺 😡 That is so evil, I know in reality it doesn't make it worse, but in my mind it does, it really does, Does "everyone" even go to school on the last day ? Meaning I was the lazy kid so sometimes I'd stay home on that day and not go ? You know ? Imagine how much guilt you as a parent would feel if you let your kid stay home that day ? How would you even be able to move around the community ? and continue living your life ? Your unintentionally, reminding the victims parents of it, everytime they see your family out in public, and you didn't know or ask for any of this !? ... What about the kid ? I'm already messed up, imagine if I had to carry the guilt of staying home while my friends were murdered !? Children ? And you have to carry that with you for the rest of your life, it's not your fault, but it wouldn't feel like it, I don't think you'd ever truly be able to let it go Bro this stuff goes deep, I'm praying for that community man, really I am 🙏
I'm also a person whose father and grandfather never cried. I was raised not to cry but it seems like I'm crying all the time now week after week. Month after month and year after year. Something needs to be done so our tears can at least dry.
@@truthwooph4083 In Houston it was the last day of school. In that Uvalde Elementary they had 2 days left of school and that same morning of the shooting there had been ceremonies. Ceremonies like honor roll and things like that where the parents go to the school and watch and take pictures of their kids. Imagine, as a parent, going to the school ceremonies to take a picture of your child holding up an AB Honor Roll certificate and later that same day realizing you'll never see your kid again. That is a chilling thought and I still haven't stopped thinking about it.
