I am always struck by just how soft-spoken Jimmy Page is. Hard to believe this quiet voice is behind the greatest guitarist of all time and all those hard core rock riffs.
The first time i ever actually heard him talk was when i saw The Firm in 1984. I mean, being a Zep fan all that time, i had NEVER heard him talk. I don't think people who have the internet now realize how different things were back then. I was astounded just to hear his voice. Now, hearing all of these things on here is so cool. Back then? I think it all just added to the mystery.
For my ASMR playlist definitely. 'Calm Voices From Many Sources'. The interviewer has a pleasing voice as well. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-B8jUVci17vE.html
Jimmy Page is so intriguing. He seems to be such a calm, quiet, particularly smart, serious, velvety gentleman, but he also has that really dark, wild, mysterious, passionate, "led zeppelin" side. His personality is trully fascinating and makes him extremely attractive ;)
I’m a teen girl who often has night terrors, and wake up drenched in sweat having panic attacks. There’s not really anything that completely calms me down. But this interview does because Jimmy’s voice is so soothing and sweet. I listen to this a lot when I get super anxious in the middle of the night and it helps me get to sleep, so thank you very much for posting this masterpiece. Sweet dreams everyone 💕❤
Austin Angler Like Jimmy Page for example 😂 But yes you're right, take Brian May for example... First listen to him shredding chords on his guitar and then listen to him talking, his voice is so soft 😍
Don't put it on all Americans. I've always been in love with English accents and I want to fall asleep to his voice in my ear while I have a smile on my face
There won’t be anyone close to Page in innovation and improvisation and skill. Page said he felt as if the guitar were another limb when he first starting playing. I owe a great debt to him for a lifetime of beautiful music. 🤘🏻❤️🤘🏻
I totally agree with you. Jimmy in particular has the face of an angel. Far better looking than Jim Morrison. So sexy too. I call him our own grown Sir lancelot x
Emma Oswin Oswald That's so true. Believe it or not, I use this interview to concentrate while revising for exams. Nothing else worked (music for relaxation, binaural waves...) except Page's voice simply talking!
I was born listening to Stairway To Heaven. When I was a baby, my mom calmed me down with this song. I grew up listening and loving Led Zepp. I love them all but I have a special feeling for Jimmy. Child, teenager, now an adult, I will always love him. Jimmy, my beloved Jimmy ❤️❤️❤️
I don't know how old you are. I will be 52 soon. I remember Stairway as a very small child, I guess at 3. But I did not get to discover Zeppelin fully until after they were done, in 1983 or something when I was actively learning guitar. Later, my dad picked Stairway as my Mom's funeral song. Still loves it. But never was aware of it when it was new, even though I was. ?
@@capgage1 Sorry if I didn't reply earlier, I just read your comment now. I was born in 1986, the band didn't exist anymore but my dad was a fan of Zeppelin since their beginning. He listened to his songs every day, I listened along. My dad thought I was going to be a guitarist or drummer...my family knows I want STH played at my funeral when I cross the bridge. I was born with them, I want to leave with them...
I never thought he would have had a rougher voice but I wouldn’t have thought about his voice sounds so soft and silky...a lot of people think you gotta have that sleepy bed voice but he is just so adorable and beautiful and proof that you can be a a badass softie
Jimmy Page is a Capricorn bright, talented, gets the job done, influencial, good looking, classy, respectful, strong minded, in control, sounds like Jimmy right
What an excellent interviewer. Jimmy is not known for sitting down and shooting the breeze. This guy asked intelligent, thought-provoking questions that spurred Jimmy into answering. Kudos and thank you! What a great insight into the mind of JP.
If you get on Jimmy's bad side, or ask what he regards as stupid questions - as many interviewers have done over the years - you will not always get this 'angelic' fella! LOL!
@@getmypastamasta8670 Two that come to mind well three; one in Guitar Magazine where he grew impatient with someone who loved Van Halen, an interview with a Japanese interviewer where Page said he tried to make things fresh because like most interviewees he's essentially telling the same story, and in a 73' article he yells at a female reporter who asks how much his spooky image is important and Page intriguingly agreed that it wa and that she had no right to question how he employed it. I've got a lot to do today or I'd give you more.
It's really humbling for him to say that the music of Led Zeppelin would probably not influence musicians to come, When quiet in fact, they are a huge influences now.
am i the only one who think his voice fit his face/appearance very well? it seems that most people had expected him to have a 'rougher' voice. he possesses a very 'badass' vibe yea, but his face looks very soft.
Jimmy said in an early 60’s interview when he was a very young session guitarist that he wanted to be an artist and he’d pay his way with his guitar. He certainly accomplished both very exceedingly, lucky for us.
Jimmy realized that Led Zeppelin’s contribution to world music was assured to be as historical as what Mozart’s work was/is. So, he worked continually for decades to accumulate, catalogue Zeps works...to basically ensure their entire body of work would be curated forever. It’s also why he never receded into the background of life and music. He availed himself to all the media types, documentaries, etc so their history came from the source. How proud he is of what they created. I was 14 when I first heard them. With my taste already being true-rooted rock and R&B (blues foundation), I was literally absorbed in awe and stunned with new emotions and then realized how important music truly is. I had no idea then about the lyrics at that age. So, every year of listening to them, I was continually given new surprises as I matured. In my late 60’s now, I can stumble upon a lyric or a sound that still manages to astound me. The top two bands (Zeppelin and Pink Floyd) were so pioneering...with two completely different genres...they remain the top two. So many GREAT musicians soon followed due to the influences of them both, realizing rock was now no “fad”. Because of Zep and Floyd, rock went from trendy in late 50’s to a dead serious and eternal genre...left in the hands of all the future geniuses musicians.
@@stuartsizemore716 - Well said. Jimmy's innate talent and works will always be recognized and appreciated at the level of those maestros. And how wonderful it was to grow up with Zeppelin's unique sound.
Very refreshing to listen to an interviewer who is respectful of Led Zeppelin, and on their side. There were so many negative music critics during that era, and particularly ones who had it in for Led Zeppelin, so it really is a pleasure to hear this journalist be so positive, and of course a real joy to listen to Jimmy.
The coolest rockstar... The midnight blue of Rockstars is Jimmy Page. The greatest guitarist of Rock music. My other favorites in other genres are T bone Walker and Django Reinhardt. But when Rock was born out of Rock n Roll and what not.. Jimmy Page did that. Jimmy is the daddy.
James Patrick Page has the most beautiful face, the softest speaking voice and was gifted by the fact that he was the most talented guitarist the universe have ever known. No wonder every female ❤ loves him. So beautiful x
fluff was the ultimate man on the bbc team to get rock out there to a bigger audience! especialy prog!! with the saturday rock show, and following on with tommy vance's friday rock show!
His excitement towards young creative musicians following the level of innovation Led Zep showed is so interesting. I think he would probably be disappointed. That period of music between 1966-76 really was the golden generation.
What a great interview, so little arrogance or ego from the guitarist in the then biggest band in the world! As I remember Robert Plant saying, Jimmy is the man who is the music.
lots of great info in this one.... discusses hendrix & even dylan! whose got more of these zep interviews? please ! let me know. (& thankyou for posting this for us to enjoy)
Its hard to imagine being in his shoes. He seems ordinary yet his music has left a couple generations in awe. He's like John Lennon, endlessly fascinating.
Robert was the social butterfly while Jimmy liked either being alone or with just one or two people. Jimmy always referred to Zeppelin as 'lots of light and shade' which I'd like to think refers to himself also. Thoughtful but always serious with that seemingly dark edge to him.
“The Song Remains The Same” that live DVD opened me up to a whole new world (& an old one) when I was a teenager. It’s what got me started playing guitar to only realize all the songs of my youth that were stuck in my head was Zeppelin. The music defined & was the score of my life.
