Heard a Steve Gorman interview today. Jimmy Page left the Black Crows Tour suddenly, claiming a bad back. Then Gorman bumped into him in London and Jimmy told him that he left for another reason. Apparently, he approached Rich Robinson and offered to help them make an album after the tour, maybe play on it, maybe even share some stuff he had written. Rich said, "No, thanks, we're good." Jimmy was so hurt he just booked it back to London. He did have back surgery too.
Black Crowes loss if they turned down Jimmy Page's offer for him to assist with an album!!??That's probably the Crowes turned abit shit after Three Snakes and a Charm!!LOL!!
Been a Led Zep fan for years, and this show made me a Crows fan too. Chris was great on the vocals, and the whole band was awesome, especially the drummer!

+gaddylh Chris is one of the best male vocalists I've ever heard, but he's not Plant, as you've pointed out. Plant is an icon, the voice of the best rock band ever!
I’ve probably been to over 100 “Headliners”. This concert was DEFINETELY in my top 3 of all time ! Can’t wait to see the Black Crowes again this summer.
Page looks like a guy performing Led Zeppelin at a talent show. With the clothes and haircut he should be Timmy Page. Amazing performance from one of the masters. Flawless and Beautiful.
Great to watch & listen Physical Graffiti being played live and, other songs that we wished Zep played live..... no doubt Page is the best rock composer/musician ever !
Wrong album, but all one has to hear is the Rain Song to know he's VERY high on the list. (Although John Paul Jones did his fair share of instrumentation on their albums.)✌️
@@gui-texzan7477 I heard songs from the PhGraffiti album, so why wrong album :). I agree JPJ is so under rated and probably needed double albums to showcase his maestro along with Page
Ok I was either under a rock or too much of a Zeppelin snob when this collaboration took place. Awesome performance! Glad that I came across this today.
He should of but he is Jimmy he wanted all the spotlight he deserves it . But even one just behind JPJ in the Zep days would of been great for him too . He played so much every concert .
Oh my Jesus, I'm knocked out by how the Crowes hold their own with Page, but Chris Robinson goes for it and gets it, and is having the best fucking time of anybody on the stage. Gotta like that.
And by the way...........A new found respect for Steve Gorman.....Page looked to him throughout the whole show.... Love the Crowes/zep/page!! any quams???? reach me anytime...nikki.farina@yahoo
+glimmertwinsproduct Nope, no qualms. Page joining them, playing their songs and LZ songs ...no other band on the planet could've pulled this off. And Gorman was spot on perfect throughout.
Haah, both him and Chris pretty much nailed it. Chris sounded like he could've been hung upside down for a day or 2 to let his sinuses drain. Other then that, great job!! 10+
"I didn't really have that much fun doing it," grumbled singer Chris Robinson. "It was alright, and Jimmy's a phenomenal guitarist, but to me it was just a job. I'm not a big fan of Robert Plant's lyrics or his singing, so that part of it was a little boring for me."["Zeppelin snub reunion rumours"; Classic Rock #48, Christmas 2002, p11]
Its Amazing how Jimmy Page knows how to pick and choose who to play Zep Tunes with. His 'Ear' for talent is One of a Kind! Jimmy Freakn Rox's Man. Nutn Like seeing a Concert and Hearing a Show from , 'The Pit'! Thx for posting...
+Jim Neano If you want to kneel at the Zeppelin/Page throne that's your business, quite frankly, I think you're mad as a Hatter mate, quite mad indeed..!!!
Page seemed to give Rich the side-eye at 9:57 during In My Time of Dying when Rich misses the bridge (where's that confounded bridge?). Still, the song soars right after and is one of the best recorded live versions, and tighter than Zep's big arena days (if less improvisational).
We all know and love Jimmy/Zepp(he was on it as always,)but this gives me a greater appreciation of the BC's,damn good band in their own outright!P.S. ANYONE WHO EVER DOUBTED PAGE'S CHOPS EVER,YOU'RE A FOOL IN THE RAIN!
Great footage saw this tour in Worcester. 90's were a great time to be a Zep fan. Between like 95 and 2001 I saw Page & Plant twice, Page & Crowes twice and Robert Plant solo and John Paul Jones open up for King Crimson. Saw Plant in 2005 and that was kind of it for my run. Had my fil for sure!
This is like an old Master showing the next generation how to rock and teaching them the music in order to carry on! I like it because of that and because it’s so powerful. Half of these numbers Zeppelin wouldn’t even play live. But they sound great and powerful! Long Live Jimmy Page! The Gandolf of Rock! The Wise Old Master Wizard! 😎👏🏻🎸
unreal! i bought a t shirt at tinley park during this tour that was printed in a "distressed" and aged fashion and basically said...Black Crowes...Rock and Roll Remedy 2001. Shirt was distressed when I bought it. 20 years later...had to throw it out...yet somehow...my gildian Green Mushroom holdin purple wizard crowe in top hat short from 1991 remains PRISTINE! I hope anyone who likes rock and roll and has been alive for the last 25 years at least...recognizes that this is a beatles/ rolling stones/ derek and the dominoes/ veruca salt/ Ides of March/ Faces/ sort of awesome ROCK AND ROLL BAND! what a treat!
Real good fit for Jimmy ... Gorman great on Skins ... Chris last of the great frontman ... I'd like to see Page revisit Mr. Jack White ... Another great fit . Just great live show ....
The Crowes fucked up in so many way's! How far must one be outta his mind to reject such an once in a lifetime offer!?! The first two records were timeless, also the touring. Afterwards all went to shit.
Had tickets for this tour for the Gorge in Washington. At the time they said it was cancelled because Jimmy had a bad back. I later found out the truth in the drummers Steve Gorman's book. Rich Robinson pissed off Jimmy when Jimmy offered to produce and write a song or more with the Black Crowes. Rich said that they could write there own songs... Page revived the Crowes career at that point and Rich has the gall to turn a literal guitar, songwriter, producer and arranger GOD down.. The ego on that guy is insane...
@@tedygaper9174 well that's 5, but yeah ;) I think its pretty obvious who Steves major influence is. Always loved him with the Crowes, but hearing him on this album just Blew me away !
His talent, charisma and versatility on the guitar have led him to conquer various stages and captivate audiences for decades, Jimmy Page of yesterday, today and always.🔥 Phenomenal band Black Crows.👋👋🎸🐉👋👋🔥🔥
Overall chris did good some of the song's didn't remain the same he couldn't hit the notes off pitch squeeze those nuts chris see plant was a real MASTER singer JIMMY is the best guitar icon of all time. AND WILL BE FOR MANY GENERATIONS TO COME TIME N TIME AGAIN YES LED ZEPPLEN REMAINS TO BE STILL THE BEST BAND OF OUR TIME FOR MANY MANY MORE. GENERATIONS TO COME AGAIN N AGAIN THE CROW'S DID A NICE JOB TRYING YOU KNOW IT AINT EZ
This a great way to showcase how great the songs were and what a creative force Jimmy was!!!! He truly looks and sounds totally relaxed and on point! Great Show, we’ll done to the Crows.
Wish Jimmy would just rip one of the solos from like 1975, sadly it appears as of this date his playing wasn't what it once was, but still one of the all time greats, N.Y. madison sq garden 1975 unbelievable. Thanks uploader.
agree i was lucky enough to see page and plant 3 times in the 90's jimmy himself even admitted that the heroin in mid 70's took a permanent toll on his electrifying solo ability. You can see for yourself by viewing any performance after like 76 to any song on song remains the same and you can see the deterioration...still as a guitarist for 26 years of my own life he is still my idol
I was here, 4 rows back from the pit on Jimmy's side! We were so far over to the right however, that we missed Jimmy's entire theramin solo! Still an awesome show!Saw them one more time in Chicago before Jimmy's back went out.
The Cleveland show (scheduled for October 2000) never took place. The tour was canceled in August 2000 due to Jimmy Page's back injury. You must have seen the show in another city. I saw the June 28 show in Pittsburgh and had tickets to the Cleveland show in October; a Led Zeppelin convention (ZepFest) had been planned around it. 1999 10.09 Brendan Byrne Arena, East Rutherford, NJ 10.12 Roseland Theater New York, NY 10.13 Roseland Theater New York, NY 10.14 Roseland Theater New York, NY 10.16 The Centrum, Worcester, MA 10.18 Greek Theater, Los Angeles, CA 10.19 Greek Theater, Los Angeles, CA 2000 06.24 New World Music Theatre, Chicago, IL 06.26 The Palace of Auburn Hills, Detroit, MI 06.28 Star Lake Theater, Pittsburgh, PA 06.29 Marcus Amphitheater, Milwaukee, WI 06.30 PNC Bank Arts Center, Holmdel, NJ 07.02 Tweeter Center, Mansfield, MA 07.04 Alltel Pavilion, Raleigh, NC 07.06 Nissan Pavilion, Bristow, VA 07.08 E Center, Camden, NJ 07.10 Jones Beach Amphitheatre, Wantaugh, NY 07.11 Conan O'Brien TV Show, New York, NY 08.12 Mesa Del Sol, Albuquerque, NM 08.14 NBC Studios, Burbank, CA (The Tonight Show)
I just finished reading the book by the drummer for the Black Crowes The reason the tour ended is because Rich rejected the offer by Jimmy Page to work with him on songs that would go on the next Black Crowes album Rich said that he and Chris had better songs?! What kind of idiot would turn down an offer from Jimmy Page?! Chris also complained because he said they were becoming a cover band? The Black Crowes popularity was at an all time low prior to this tour! Any fan of the band should read the book to see how see how Chris destroyed the band!
I love the fact that Page pretty much just looks liek some middle aged guy off the street in all black....gone are the days of caring about looking like a rockstar when you are a rock god.
Damn!! No doubt in my mind who is the greatest ever.. "In My Time Of Dying", story be told....Jimmy Page is THE GREATEST GUITAR PLAYER!! SLAM DUNK !! Give me another better.......
Saw them at the Palace of Auburn Hills, Metro Detroit. My wife was 8.5 months pregnant, so she stayed home with my mother. She was pissed. Well, we are talking Jimmy Page here. Plus, the Black Crowes are one of my favorite bands. Now she see's the point.
Zep's songs sound more complete hear then when Zeppelin played them live, Those songs have so many overdubbed guitars on them Page could never reproduce them live with one guitar, with three guitars it sounds great!
As a guitarist it was always fun to see what he did live to compensate- to hear and see what he could do with one guitar. It was part of the experience and more interesting (different) than hearing it sound exactly like the album. But I understand and appreciate your point.
It's too bad Chris Robinson sang into his fist the entire night. I wish someone had told him, "Hey skinny...stop singing into your fucking fist! Your not a fucking rapper! You know this is being recorded for an album...cut the shit! Your vocals sound like a bag of ass!" I love Jimmy Page!
Was there 20 years ago and sat first row center outside of the pit. You are so right on Steve Gorman. He tirelessly drove the show with JP and Chris. Gorman favorite drummer since this show...Eddie on keyboards on Your Time is Gonna Come was unreal. Sat next to pro pitcher Randy Johnson who rocked out and said to me one of the best shows ever seen.
@@SLOCraig wow! i would have given anything to see those shows. i saw the crowes when they headlined the horde festival and i saw page/plant on the no quarter tour. happy turkey day!
Maybe Chris is amazing, but not on this night. He was flat a LOT. Maybe it was his monitor; maybe he couldn't hear how off-key he was. And the bass was turned down so low in the mix it was practically non-existent. I don't know what you're hearing, but it's not nearly the same as I.
Amazing thing is that Steve Gorman says in his book that Day 1 at the Greek was one of the worse performances and that virtually the whole album released came from the Day 2 recording. Day 1 is still pretty cool.
I will never understand why the Robinson brothers are such a holes and just insist on being miserable all the time and pissing everybody off Jimmy PAGE is one of the greatest people in rock ‘n’ roll history. Why couldn’t they just be happy jamming with him…idiots.
I was lucky enough to be there. Great job on the video. I was surprised that they focused totally on Zep songs, but was so glad. I have seen the Black Crows many times and love them, but still glad of the way this went.
This is super-awesome. Great to see Page with a younger generation of rockers. Guitarist playing the high notes at the end wasn't quite hitting the pitch.
The other 2 guitar players really allow jimmy page to do his thing they complement him well the singer is great he stayed true to his voice as the black crows singer you can tell his voice any were when he sings the drummer was great I like how his drum kit Is set on Jimmy's right just like Bottum used to set on the right of page the band was tight what a privilege they all must of felt and I bet Jimmy felt the same ausem....Roland
Saw them on this tour in Raleigh NC at Walnut Creek Amphitheatre. Never seen so many people standing playing air guitar ( including myself ) . Awesome concert . Aubrey , the BC's lead guitarist , is from Raleigh .
I listened to Ten Years Gone in my most precious moments and my supposed friends think that this song is a sad song !. All I can do is laugh at their speedy trying to prove life. They are sad. not the song. May the devil bite em'. False assholes !.......... God ! I need a cool hippy girlfriend :)
What a crime is that Freed did all the heavy lifting with these shows and this video doesn't even show him stage right fucking killing it. Rich is so low in the mix for good reasons.
