nahh I'm glad he's a 3rd party content creator who just loves the series and franchise, he made SO MUCH more here than he could in that rotting ass development company who hasn't shown any love for this franchise in years, just milking whatever left is of this game with shameless "remaster" and money from GTAO
At this point anyone does more than Rockstar to preserve and keep their older games alive. I myself redid all the old Flash websites for GTA games because Rockstar simply decided to delete them.
Jimmy Pegorino is one of my favorite character in GTA IV, he’s so charismatic and so well written - his voice and motion capture actor, Tony Patellis, did an incredible job!
The ironic part is, Jimmy could've avoided his death and the anger of Niko Bellic, just by simply hiring another mercenary to watch over the heroin deal with Dimitri Rascalov. He already knew Dimitri and Niko had history. He knew the risks but he still went with it anyway. And look where that got the wise guy. With a hole in his skull, slumped over near a fountain at happiness island. Sometimes a man just can't put his pride down, huh?
@External Galaxy that is certainly true. My contention (and I assume OP's) is that Jimmy should have known that Niko was a bad choice for the negotiations. Him trusting Dimitri is understandable given he doesn't know the man beyond that he wants the heroine. Like with Ray before him Jimmy made a mistake in his choice of underlings regarding Niko. It's why GTA 4 is the best written game in the series, Jimmy isn't an antagonist because he he has malicious intent towards the player character (see Tenpenny, or Catalina) he's just a flawed mob boss trying to cling to his crumbling empire.
He was doomed already.. he was in already in his downfall with Ray Boccino dead and the heat the diamonds deal brought on practically everyone involved not to mention he had informants ratting his glorified crew down so he didn’t care enough for Niko to take him down with him in case something goes wrong. Little did he know ..
If you were watching right at premier time and the video vanished for you, sorry about that, had to fix a fade issue on some narration that got missed. Episode is good to go now! Enjoy! Ugggh, I just noticed the mistake that made it in at 15:20. Sorry folks, I do my best to make the final drafts as close to perfect as I can but it's tough with only a week in production.
Jimmy was something of a complicated character. He was very shaped by his tragedies. I think, Jimmy's paranoia largely sterns from guilt - the guilt of his son's demise, the guilt from his fractured marriage to Angie, the guilt of not being strong enough to prevent Anthony's betrayal. Jimmy has a gulity concincense. He failed many times to make something of himself, and sometimes could accept responsibility and sometimes could not, so he's blamed others. I think that maybe Ray was a rat. After Anthony's death, the Weazel News report mentions a source close to the mob. You can imagine that the Pavanos weren't going to take their setback to James' revenge against them lightly. So my guess? They promised him to be Don after Jimmy is arrested. Ray had made many bad calls himself. I think its highly probable that he attracted police attention. Ray also didn't recieve papers as Jimmy and Phil. Jimmy's incompetence is because he didn't have an actual proof of Ray's supposed betrayal. But if my theory is correct, then that explains perfectly well why Ray never criticised Niko for betraying him, despite the fact that he helped Niko several times. Also, Ray's sitdown was kind of suspicious if you ask me. If he was trying to gain favor with a gang for Jimmy, I don't think Jimmy would have had him disposed. The McRearys proved loyal to the Pegorinos. He also had protection. Ray never did travel with bodyguards. And last thing for this comment, Niko arguably betrayed Jimmy in Revenge. And while that Ending fits him the most, I think it can be considered an act of treachery on Niko's part. Yes, Jimmy should have sold the heroin to the Gambetti Family or even another non-hostile family on the Commission, but because of the Pavanos' betrayal, I bet Jimmy lost all respect for the Commission's Dons, except for Jon Garvelli, who he was formally associated with.
Depends on how real you look at it. The mob wouldn't trust a guy to be a rat or anyone that talks to authority at all. So they wouldn't allow Ray to rat out Jimmy and then become boss. They also would just have Ray kill Jimmy then allow him to take over, but given Jimmy and the Pegorino's standing in things I don't think the other families would think to work with them, just wipe them out and split up the turf. Then I don't think Ray is a rat. Could it be possible that he WOULD flip if given a life sentence and knowing Jimmy wants him dead? Sure. He'd probably look at Jimmy and Phil going down as opportunity so I don't think he was ALREADY a snitch. I think in the end Jimmy looked at who he could trust more in his time of heightened paranoia and decided that Phil was too important to kill and he already didn't trust Ray so he'd be the sacrificial pawn. Reason Ray probably didn't get papers was because Ray operated more on his own and did a lot of things "off the record" or without Jimmy's knowledge (at least he thought so) like with the diamonds. Phil ran close with Jimmy, that's why he was trusted. So Phil and Jimmy were probably in the same case and another one would be put together against Ray separate. Remember that politician from TLAD tells Johnny not to worry about Ray as he'd be dead or inside soon anyway. Knowing that Ray either has a case coming up against him, that's either a slam dunk or that Jimmy and Co. Would clip him fearing he'd rat anyway, like Phil is often times worried about. All in all, though Ray was unlikable to many (I really liked his character) I don't think he was a rat. An over ambitious kiss ass? Sure. But a rat? I don't get that vibe from him. He was an upcoming problem, so Jimmy found the perfect time and excuse to deal with him.
Yet Jimmy fails to realize that he is also part of the problem and never, ever took responsibility. The Commission considers him as a joke because: -His structural organization is a mess: He has way too many associates (which is super risky because they may know too much and turn states), one capo taking care of everything and had no underboss or consigliere offering any input. -He hires muscle without screening them first: Jimmy made Niko head of security after meeting him for 5 min. And heck, Jimmy openly admitted that he would hire any wiseguy all the street. -He made a deal with Dimitri Rascalov: Dimitri is a man that even the Commission doesn't want to deal with with because of his treacherous, unpredictable nature, with the Ancelottis backing from there because of Dimitri's treacherous nature. After Phil and Niko almost got killed, Jimmy's reaction is acting like he scored the winning touchdown. -He talks tough, yet he is very spineless: Jimmy sucks up to the Pavanos in hopes of them putting a word on him for the Commission, and even saying that he lets them take a bite from time to time. In reality, the Pavanos are doing what they want, regardless of what Jimmy agrees or not. Essentially, Jimmy is letting them walk all over him. What Jimmy should have done is actually attack them hard and demand a tax. -He treats his men like trash: Jimmy acts very dismissive about the deaths of Marco and Big Pete (who despite their flaws, were genuinely loyal) and brags about beating Anthony like he was his own son and also having Ray killed with little to no evidence. Mafias aren't a democracy, but aren't dictatorships either. A made man can only be hurt and killed if they actively attempted to go against the family. You can't send someone to the hospital (Anthony Corrado, read his criminal record) or kill them just because you don't like them. For all his talk about tradition, he also violated a lot of the Mob rules. No wonder Anthony squealed. -He has way too much trouble with the Police: Check Jimmy's criminal record and compare it to Jon Gravelli's: Jimmy was convicted of crimes and in a very short time span. Jon on the other hand, was indicted, but never convicted, specially during the 1949-1990 period. Why? Because Jon is smart and cautious, covers his tracks very well, whereas Jimmy wants the attention to himself. -He talks openly about businesses in his home: Jimmy during his cutscenes, openly talks about businesses at his home, where there is bigger probability of said home being bugged or surrounded by rats. -He inherited his father's organization, yet he never worked for what he had: Jimmy's main trait is acting like he is entitled to respect, yet doing nothing to earn said respect. He is a nobody who thinks he is someone. -He is a terrible tactician: He let the Pavanos choose the place for the sitdown and didn't bother to question why a Liberty City family would want to make business with a family in Alderney. And the Pavanos didn't even send a capo to meet him. A smart person would have smelled that this was a set up. And also the fact that when he finds out Anthony is a rat, he basically shouts at him at the phone, instead of pretending everything is normal, lure him to a place and then kill him. -He didn't promote anyone: Phil Bell and Ray Boccino were stuck in their posts despite being good earners.
Another great episode. You are hitting it out of the park every time with these biographies and it breathes more life into the game because the characters featured are far more interesting with the new detailed information you now have
I've always found Jimmy Pegorino a Semi-Tragic Character, I am not saying he was good, he got what he deserved in this ending. Yeah! He was an Idiot! But he always wanted to join The Commission, so he did anything he could, but his started to defect or betray him, reducing his strength. At last his last time resort was to Deal with Dimitri, a person he he very well knew was the arch enemy of Niko. If Niko deals with him, Peg doesn't betray him or solds him out. He himself is betrayed by Dimitri. If Niko kills Dimitri, Peg gets enraged as he loses everything, I can't blame him if he tries to kill Niko. Unfortunately, He misses and shoots Kate instead. (I am not sure, how Niko could've felt if he was actually hit but managed to survive, I believe he would be very angry as well and will kill Peg eventually, but not to an extent in this ending) On top of that he lost his son and his adopted son betrays him, he has lost his mind in Paranoia. Again, Pegorino deserved what he got, but I can't help but to feel bad for him.
I really like the ambient sounds and ambient theme of the video, it makes the story of the character a lot cooler than it actually is, I would love to see it in another video
Friendly suggestion, Niko's surname is pronounced Belić (Belich)...I am from Balcans, which Niko should be from, so I know what I am talking about. Here there are thousands of people with surname Belić and I never heard of anyone with surname Belik, that is just Rockstar misspelling, which is then followed by almost every non-balcan person on Internet.
The problem with pegarino is that it very hard to take him seriously and he knows it but refuses to except it. Jimmy broke all the rules of the mafia and he knows it. He makes phil bell a made man but phil not even 100% Italian. The mafia find that very disrespectful. Then he has ray kill even though he doesn't have proof he rated on the family. Then he just simply stupid. That's why everyone considered pegarino a joke and not a real mafia.
So that's Dimitri, Ray Bulgarin and Jimmy. My money for the next possible characters would be Billy Gray, Ray Boccino, or Rocco Pelosi. I don't know if Playboy X has enough information for a whole video, given how quickly he is killed off.
Why didnt Packie ever show up to help chase down Pegorino? Or maybe Derrick/Francis depending on who you save, I doubt any of those men would just let Kate's murderer go unscathed.
Derrick is a junkie and Francis only cares about his career. Honestly his sister getting shot by a gangster at a wedding would be great for Francis. As for Packie I imagine him just being to devastated by what happened to be of use, like he said in his last phone call he's all his mom has left, and that ain't much
It is because 1. JPeg is still a Made Man, and if Packie kills him, he will have to worry about Mobsters sneaking up his arse. At least, it's what Packie thinks. 2. Just like JPeg, Packie's gang is almost done, someone like Jacob has a lot of backup, and if it was found that Packie was involved in murder of JPeg, he will have No Backup (Niko won't help that much) 3. There's a chance that Packie can die, if he dies his Ma will have no one left (Not that it counts because Ma is almost dead too) but from Packie's perspective, he need to be with his Ma.
I have to guess Packie did not know about what happened to Kate until after Jimmy P met his end. It does take some time for the police to contact the next of kin, even if the victims have already been IDed. When you hear his voice post-game, it does sound like he just received the news. Plus, if Packie did know who did Kate in, he would have joined Niko without hesitation, since we know Packie is not exactly known for being calm, never mind that he risks his own life and adding more grief to his Ma, especially after just losing one of her children (Derrick or Francis, and if you spared Derrick, he did not live for long either, as Packie confirmed Derrick had passed on by 2013).
Jimmy Peg makes for one of the oddest, most interesting and most preventably killed mob bosses I've ever seen. He could've easily looked for another buyer for the H, he could have hired a different mercenary to deal with the Russians, either way, making Niko go into a deal that was almost guarenteed to either result in himself being betrayed or running afoul of the Peg, was a stupid idea. Jimmy set up his own death in a rediculously obvious way, yet one that makes sense given his paranoia. In the end, that one decision took Jimmy Pegorino straight from Don to Done.
Yeah, and Kate's accidental death has just made him the public enemy of Liberty City. He only succeeded in angering Niko and galvanizing the whole city, especially the LCPD and the Commission.
Niko betrayed Jimmy my friend. There are no two ways about it. He betrayed Jimmy, who never wronged him and Jimmy had nothing to do with Dimitri’s betrayal. Jimmy could have offered Dimitri and Bulgarin Niko’s life in exchange for money or to join their alliance, that could greatly have increased his power, which Ray desperately needed. Ray was extremely powerful and Jimmy wanted to gain favour with him. Jimmy himself hints that Dimitri wanted Niko dead before the deal and he was totally against it. This is very much in Dimitri’s character to attempt to convince a mob boss to sell out his employee, just as Ray did with him. But Jimmy respected Niko so he refused. Jimmy trusted Niko, and thought that Niko was like him, a guy that wants to make money. But Niko didn’t want to deal with Dimitri. Jimmy didn’t know how disloyal Dimitri was. Still, I do think Jimmy was very wrong in attacking the wedding, but notice how he regretted killing Kate and was truly only coming after Niko. Jimmy was devastated by Niko’s betrayal, and his hostility towards Bellic even in defeat greatly reinforces that Jimmy took Niko’s betrayal very personally. I won’t deny that Dimitri was dangerous, but Niko was too deep into the criminal underworld and should have at least gave Jimmy a solution because he couldn’t have just walked away and failed to see the consequences of his criminal lifestyle and he probably also underestimated Pegorino. Just my thoughts.
@@AH-is5yg it doesn’t undo the fact that Niko betrayed him. The personal mistakes Jimmy made had nothing to do with Niko’s betrayal. Jimmy’s life ended because he retaliated. If he left Niko alone, he would fine himself in a just as bad situation. Revenge was the only thing he had.
@@AH-is5yg Niko didn’t learn to let go. A partial reason for his killing of Dimitri was the fact that he couldn’t let him get away with his betrayal. I think Niko primarily killed Dimitri to protect Roman, but also out of revenge. If Jimmy is an idiot for trying to get revenge then Niko is a hypocrite for thinking his actions won’t have consequences, just as his Jimmy’s did. GTA 4’s story is about that revenge is not worth it, but also it’s about the fact that it has consequences.
Has anyone noticed how some characters in GTA IV looks similar to each other? Derrick McReary looks like Jimmy Pegorino. Gordon (one of Packie’s friends) looks like Bulgarin. Armando from TBoGT looks like Rocco from TBoGT. Ilyena Faustin (One of the Random Characters) looks like Sara (One of the Random Characters). Marnie Allen (Random Character that appears in GTA V) looks like Gracie Ancelotti from TBoGT. Brian Meech (One of the First Random Characters) looks like Patrick McReary. Niko Bellic looks like Darko Brevic.
It’s too bad Jimmy Pegorino was too greedy for his own good. He should have thanked Niko for not doing the deal because Dimitri kills everyone he does business with he couldn’t be trusted and Niko saved Jimmy’s life.
It is not really worth it to be betrayed and killed by a cunning snake because Dimitri had already stolen the cash and sold the heroin to someone else overseas.
Jimmy Pegorino is a character I relate to because I've got Italian blood and me and Jimmy Pegorino are not fully Italian, but Pegorino isn't a real name, the name Pegorino is more like the name Pellegrino
Honestly Pegorino is a lot more sympathetic GTA 4 antagonist than Dimitri, all the guy wanted was to be taken seriously by the other families and to be included. I honestly felt a little bad for him when Niko kills him (Revenge) or when Dimitri betrays him (Deal) All he wanted was to be treated like an equal, but no matter the choice he gets fucked over in the end. With the Deal ending, I think that hitman was only Dimitri’s doing, Pegorino was legit very happy and bid Niko farewell after the Deal, they left on very good terms so it’s hard for me to believe he would try to betray him like that, I think he would’ve left him alone as a sign of gratitude for everything he’s done for him. You all notice that either Dimitri fucks Jimmy over or Niko does. Never the other way around. I think as long as you don’t cross Pegorino, he’ll be a friend, just like Phil Bell.
I’m not sure that Niko liked Peg. I think he respected him at the very least. At least more than Ray. I do agree that Niko felt a certain amount of guilt after his death because he realised that he has wrought about this turn of events. He knew that his betrayal caused this. If you think about it Niko did feel bad for Jimmy. Jimmy became somewhat like Niko. Consumed by revenge and Niko knows first hand what it does to a man.
@@justsomeguy747 You are right! Played Out Of Commission 3-4 times. Niko mentions, he was a piece of Crap, Small Guy etc. But he never says he regrets working for him. In fact he regrets not working for him (At Least in the Revenge Ending) as he says to a Phone Call "I should have done that deal for Pegorino" . Right after you knock him out, Niko loses all his adrenaline, looks at the body coldly and asks what has he done probably feeling a little bit sad. So Why does Niko insult him? Because he is mocking and somewhat admiring his arrogance even at the face of Death. It is also evident in his Phone Call to Packie, he never mentions something like "Piece of Crap Peg capped your sister" or something probably because he doesn't want to entirely blame him for Kate's death.
Well Jimmy does have delusions that he is going to be the king of Liberty City but Jon Gravelli and ULP paper says that’s not going to happen anytime soon. So he is really stuck in no man’s land.
And both are considered jokes by the higher ups: -Mikhail outright admits that he only kept Vlad around because he fucked his sister. -Gravelli and U.L. Paper lampshaded that the Pegorinos are nothing more than a glorified crew.
@@jorgebersabe293 Also the Pavanos and the Ancelotti Family didnt really care about Pegerino. They really just wanted to take over his turf and crew which they eventually did after his demise. Pegerino really thought he is on the same level as the Commission. But in reality, he is at the same level as Playboy X.
@@ntrainr160 In fact, the Pavanos thought of Pegorino as a pushover. After all, Pegorino let them operate in his turf without demanding anything, when in reality he should have demanded a tax.
Ray wasnt a low level earner he was a big earner. Loansharking, gambling, masterminding robberies, hijackings, fencing stolen goods, involved in the sanatstion business all things i can remember he was involved in.
It was poor wording on my part. Later in that same sentence I emphasize that he brings in big money. What I meant was Ray started as a low level earner and impressed Pegorino with as you say, all of those different things he started getting into. Ill cover it more in the Ray episode.
You know if I was Jimmy I wouldn’t bother to get on the Commission. To hell with them, if they don’t want to respect me I won’t do the same thing and do my thing and carve my own criminal organization and have my own territory.
If Jimmy knew that Dimitri was a liability and he betrayed everybody else he came in contact with, he would personally apologize to Niko and understood why he didn’t want to partake in the heroin deal because of bad blood and to part on good terms in the aftermath. He may be an awful person but in some ways he’s marginally a better person than Dimitri and that he conducted the heroin deal out of desperation to have a seat in the 5 Families.
Good point. Jimmy P, in desperation, has a crappy mindset. He didn't knew that Dimitri was becoming a liability to the Commission because of the heroin screwjob. If Niko would have made the deal, Dimitri might screw him again as the cunning Russian snake, if the player chooses to make the heroin deal with that snake, has betrayed even Bulgarin by killing the latter's men and selling the heroin to someone else.
@@MyJanvic If Bulgarin found out that Dimitri sold the heroin to someone else, he would have him smoked for his betrayal knowing it’ll mess up his pockets and that the latter’s a coward when confronted by someone more fearsome than Mikhail.
Jimmy has no excuse. The Ancelottis also dealt with Dimitri and even they backed off the moment they realized Dimitri has attempted to screw them over.
Trying to kill niko was his worst choice. Jimmy should have left niko alone because you literally know niko killed damn near thousands of people & unstoppable killing machine .
When the failed assassination attempt on Niko in his cousin's wedding day led to Kate's death, the whole New York/Liberty City from the NYPD/LCPD to the Mafia wanted to kill him
I drafted and considered it for season 2 but it would have been barely too short and overlapped a bit too much with Dimitri. I'll cover Faustin in season 4 when we look at the whole of Russian organized crime in LC
Jimmy in my opinion is joke of a Don. He refused to give Phil Caporeigme over a not being Italian with one caporeigme which is Ray. That’s why Jimmy and Ray always keeps getting backstabbed by the associates because Jimmy has to be capo/undercover/ and Don all at once and can’t handle it. He’s a powertrip and he makes stupid actions like what he did over the wiretap situation. I feel Dimitri’s manipulation caused the end of all for Jimmy.
The Peg always kinda rubbed me the wrong way. Don't get me wrong he's a well made character in the story but he's kind of a prick lol... Just selfish and doesn't want to do alot of real work to make the families just trys to weasel his way in. Especially what happens to Kate if you don't take the deal ending I don't much care for Peg but he plays a very important roll in the GTA IV story
Please don't edit your music in such a way that it jumps from one ear to the other and back. It is very weird and distracting. It wasn't all of the music, just that one instrument or melody in the background.
