​@@hi-there- I would normally agree because Mo Xuanyu is still technically Jin Ling's half-uncle by blood but if we choose to ignore that- Wei Ying was never actually adopted to the Jiang family. He was only Jiang Yanli's "martial brother" and wouldn't really be legally considered family as he still kept his last name "Wei". Moreover, I don't think LWJ or WWX actually adopted LS as their son (LWJ actually "adopted" LS as his ward, not his son. But you might consider ward and son to be the same thing...). So, maybe they're cousins, maybe they're not cousins; it really just depends on your perception of blood/familial relations. oof I went off on a tangent- TL;DR - It depends on whether you think of a martial brother as an actual brother and if you consider a "ward"/student to be an adoptive son because Sizhui, in canon, is legally considered to be Lan Zhan's "ward". It also depends on if you think MXY's relation to JL as his half-uncle through blood still counts now that his body has WWX's soul.

I asked my mom, who is Chinese, and she says Jin Ling is not obligated to call the brothers of sworn brothers of a blood uncle his uncle. So he’s not required to call Nie Huaisang or premarriage Lan Wangji, uncle. He can if he’s really familiar with them and they mutually agree to it, but then it would be similar to his calling the ghost general, Uncle Wen. Idk if my mom’s an expert in sworn brotherhood or not so you can choose whether or not director Nie is an uncle or not. Also my mom assured me that Wei Wuxian, even though he’s adopted and bears a different surname, is still definitely, inescapably, an uncle to Jin Ling, with that one time Jiang YanLi claimed him as her didi being the proof. I guess WWX breaking up with the Jiang sect just means that Jin Ling lost the right to call him martial maternal uncle (aka shijiu) so Jin Ling is left with calling him elder maternal uncle(aka dajiu).
