There is seriously something powerful when you hear any man talk about his faults. Mad respect, because until you can look at yourself and see wrong you can never see right
+Drew Point OH Amen to what you said. Alot of Rappers/MCs today they will NEVER admit to what they are NOT good at. They always hype them self up, thats why they dress them self with alot of "BLING" to hide their flaws. But i like how JIN was man enough to admin his flaws. In order to be a better person you gotta see your flaws before you can move forward.
One of the truest truths EVER‼ to examine your shortcomings or wrongs whether faults against orhers or faults agaisnt yourself is one if the surest ways to grow ‼ but most please aren't trying to do that because its painful ‼ so yes!, Jin gets much respect from me. Check out Jinfluence.
Jeeeeeeez Jin is soo gatdamned hip-hop! I swear he was what KRS 1, Rakim and Nas hoped the game would evolve to; intelligent and mature men doing things deliberately and after great introspection.
To me Jin gets that along with Rakim, KRS, and Nas too. Today Kendrick is that to me: he's about the art of hip hop - real introspective but can get down if he needs to. It's good to see ppl like them come up once in a while.
i remembered in the earlier days i saw his video and youtube channel. i thought about msging him but i wasnt sure if he's genuine or serious, so i didn't. looking back, he's shown he's a true artist taking what he does very seriously
So just because hes not black he has to be deep in order to be taken seriously?......meanwhile there are some black rappers who are dumb as hell....smh i never thought he was fake because he was to good to be fake
gotta respect a man who would throw a high stakes battle just to show and prove what real freestyling is. i never thought jin was top 5 or maybe even 10, but his words are real as hell.
Jin makes you realize it's perfectly ok to move away from what you're good at. Happiness comes first. If you find it somewhere else other than the environment you are most familiar with then stay there. It isn't about being a mega rap star or money. It's about what feels right.
Salutes to Jin though. I remember being a kid and my older brothers watching Jin battle and if it wasn't for battlers like him back then I probably wouldn't be in to it now.
Honestly, the Serious Jones battle was a huge disadvantage to Jin. Although Jin has come across racist jokes through majority of all his battles, he always counters the jokes and twists them to his favor. Most of his battles involved mild racist jokes but Serious Jones took it to another level where it became harsh and funny to the crowd. There was no way Jin could really counter it with a black racist joke or twist it cus obviously...the crowd and judges are black so if he said a racist joke to Serious Jones, he would involve the crowd and judges. Who knows how far their sense of humor may go. Overall, Jin will always be a classic well known individual in the rap battle culture. Not just cus he's Asian but as an Emcee in general.
Yall need some humble pie, china has had low points in their history, blacks have had highs, the truth is there is nothing classic about Jin. He lost fair and square he was trash in that battle. The crowd didnt give serius jones the win, on account of racism, serius jones was 1000x better that night.
Timothy Ree and I get sick of people who get all pissed about jokes. He could have easily made a black joke that would have been just as funny to the crowd, but couldn’t. Remember 40 year old virgin when the Indians guy talks shit to the black guy ‘when your son is born, is he already on parole?’ The audience was lit. It was all in good fun. It’s just some races are off limits for jokes and it’s bullshit.
@Syuna Don't do that. Jin even said it himself in this interview. He was terrible in the Serious Jones battle. Serious Jones was in his bag at the time. Has nothing to do with race.
@@Horrortelltales EXACTLY! that's why that whole smack crowd is lame. Bunch of dick riders. Starts ohhing and ahhing riding that bandwagon. Man....same thing back then. All the black people clearly on Jones dick. Sad.
Luisperales47 You make excuses like a bitch. Battle rap is about making your opponent crack emotionally before you. Jin admits defeat. Nothing more needs to be said.
What really happened is cats stopped freestyling and started spitting writtens, which at the time was considered a whack sucker move, but then once the battle rap scene started to realize that the crowd is gonna go wild to good bars regardless if they are off the top or written the culture shifted into rappers actually starting to write verses for battles instead of songs. Jin's pen game isn't the strongest but that boy could freestyle his ass off, which is why he was the king of battle rap when freestyling was the only way to go about battling.
People don't give Jin enough credit. This dude is one of the pioneers of battle rap. Whether it was Freestyle Friday( running through a bunch of names). He was on the Smack DVD, Fight Club, and other venues. He pretty much put premeditated rebuttals on the map too. Still gave us some freestyling in his rounds that were usually entertaining as well. Jones was one of the first to come to him with a lot of writtens, and was not only well-prepared, but had the crowd eating out of his palm that day. There was nothing Jin could do to win that battle. Hats off to Jones, because he knew who he would run into in the finals, and was ready.
Yo back in the day I would rush home from work at 4 pm to get back in time to watch 106npark. I’ll never forget Jins battles and rushing home. I would light up a blunt and watch his battles every Friday I never missed one episode. It was a part of rap history I remember exactly what I was wearing on some of those Friday’s. Lots of respect for this Jin. He lit 106 up in fire
I respect Jin, very intelligent dude. Bless. Continue to be honest at heart man. After this video, makes me feel good to know that you are geniune bro. Bless
I liked the song with Kanye..... Should've been his first video....... With or without Kanye in it....... That along with his album not getting pushed back, after his initial buzz, and it could've been a big success imo.
Solomon spit all prewritten shit though, jin was freestylin. I don't hear many people mention that, not even jin. It's pretty fucking hard to beat someones writtens with shit off the dome, there's more structure in written bars obviously.
There is a guy in the UK who is weak like Serius Jones, his name in Tenchu. He can't rap battle without just being racist. Crowd get hyped, but dude is a compete FOOL! Jin is a legend
@@Tone7580 Nah. Jones dodged him after that, Wouldn't give Jin a rematch...... Jin was even showing up to his performances on stage live and challenging Jones, and he wouldn't face him.......... Speaks for itself, Jones was scared to battle him again.
Bob Bugsly nah buddy,Jones ain’t duck shit, and is still actively battling. Why would he dodge a Jin rematch paycheck??? Do you think any active battler would dodge that??? If you do you’re just not credible on this subject. Now,when Jin “interrupted Jones’ performance”,of course he didn’t battle him. They weren’t payed to,and Jones was at work. That was Jin just being butt hurt.
The fact remains, Ruff Ryder's didn't drop his album right after he won Freestyle Friday, that's what hurt Jim. This man had Kanye and Swizz on his first albums along with Just Blaze. He had all the potential in the world, lable politics messed him up.
I'm black and I say Jin got cheated out the Jones battle no racial jokes should be allowed especially when the entire crowd is the same race as one of the opponents
It didn't stop Jin any other time. It actually helped him because it gave him something to come back with. He just didn't bring his best at the Serius Jones battle.
Nigga that's part of battle rap lol. Dont be a non black trying to rap... when it comes down to it battle rap is our shit. Non black battle rappers of today know how to flip and rebuttal bro... Jin had a flow and cadence but the bars weren't there. I watched it when it first happened and I watched it yesterday. Nope. His sudden death round was bootyjuice
Yo, back in the day Jin was the homie (This is GMS from the Plague). Glad to see that he is in such a great place mentally amd spiritually. Hope to get up and build again sometime. Much success! Stay blessed.
I'm glad to see Jin again. His battles are what turned me on to the whole battling scene in the first place. Many may not agree but he's an ambassador. You gotta respect him.
In Jin’s only smack battle, I saw a man who believed in himself, now I see someone that doesn’t. Humility might be recognising your weaknesses, but it isn’t also dismissing your strengths. Despite being beaten he had the chance to be one of the greatest, as if he could prepare bars as good as everyone else does, (not just the words, but the style and delivery) his advantage would be that he would be the greatest rebuttal battler, period. He could still do it now. I’d just make sure my first battle back was against someone else who’s had done highs and lows. The first battle, whoever he battles will bring up all the fight klub stuff, the record deal stuff, and if Jin wins, and can flip it, then whoever he battles next, it will be old news. Jin, come back bro
Wrong. Jin was good and still is and is Egotistical, he thought he was the second coming, as special as they come, but he's learned that is the wrong attitude to have about yourself.
Jin is a boss!!!! nothing can change that...he clearly knows who he is despite his losses...and I'll even add that Im a fan...BUT!!!!! when your in a battle pretty much every things up for grabs...race, job, social status, failures whatever.....so stop making excuses for him. its the nature of the culture of battle rap...if your a non black battler and you know your in a predominately black arena you've just got to find creative ways to connect to your audience...Blacks folks where feelin him on 106 when all those other rappers came at him with the same racist stuff but Jin handled it and came back and ended all those dudes...dont make excuses for him...he was off his A game and got caught...I would love to see him make a come back though cause I still think he's got it..
Jason Sellers he did find a way around it! did u even listen to his flow? LOL.. if he couldnt find a way around it he would be making balck jokes in return! the fact that jin stayed away from the "black jokes" means he found a way to go around it. smh people these days LOL.
Princess Pai black ppl can't be racist...if you need me to explain that i can...but in a nut shell yeah he's got to find a way to win despite him being asian....hes done it before and i believe he could do it again
Jin is a humble and articulate dude tho. Seems like a coo dude. He still got skills too but he just aint the best, aint nothin' wrong wit dat. much respect yo
"This is part of the healing, to be able to confront it" My head was nodding, turn side to side, eyes closed everything when he said this 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Much respect "I don't wanna do it for the the wrong reasons"
never realized how articulate this dude is. but just seeing how well he can express himself in a simple interview makes me REALLY wanna see how well he could perform in a battle if he really devoted himself. you got my endorsement, bruh.
No, he just lost period. He took them likely, thinking he was the best battler ever. The dudes on 106N Park used to say Chinese jokes against and he knew it was coming and flipped it on them. So stop making excuses.
Man, I remember when Jin first hit the stage on Freestyle Fridays straight killin niggas and we talk about it in class after the weekend, he's changed a lot since then (in a good way) i'm not even mad that he dont battle no more he's a legend in my book.
Corey Marshall I agree that the right to use race jokes in bars should go both ways. Jin did have that right but chose not to go there (probably coz he didn't want to turn the crowd against him), whereas Serius just didn't give a fuck.
***** Yup. Serious didn't have to give a fuck. Jin was the only asian there. In that instance, to be fair, battlers should use everything but race bars
C'mon Jin, there's so much more time to do lotsa stuff. Such an understated freestyler. Jin used to smoke rappers. Don't Flop gotta try out this battle cat.
Al Sockwell Jones went all out racist ( if crowd was Asian they be pissed), that place would not let him say real racist black jokes. It's a double standard, it's ok to say racist things against asians but not blacks
xxhc2000xx well , that would only make sense to me if i wasn't Asian and black. its many battles at times crowd's could be one sided on either side. its simple he was out us shape. it showed.
Jin was one of the best Freestyle battlers to ever do it, but even he understands what the game has become nowadays. His responses were sincere and to the point...much respect to this man & much success on the music career!
Jin held it down also at Fight Klub in Puerto Rico. He killed it on Smack DVD Vol. 7 vs Verse, he was champion 7 weeks in a row on 106, but man did he get smashed by Serius Jones and again by Iron Solomon both on Fight Klub. People say it was the racist jokes that made Serius Jones win, but it didn't stop Jin winning every other battle. He just didn't bring his best, he was used to freestylin off the top, but his opponents were on point those two battles
It would be interesting to see how jin would fair using written lines instead of fully freestyling like he used to. I think he has potential to be a top tier writer. Whether he would do it is another question entirely
CLELovesYou He smashed him and it was written all over Jins face damn give credit Jin cant win it all, and if he jumps in the ring with the battler rappers out now he would get killed even worse.
Keith Mason LMAO! It's called fan boys, I don't think he even listen to what Jin said, he admitted he got smashed, but dick riders will ride no matter what.
