I think you are ready to hear just how amazing Jinjer is live! I recommend either (or both) Perennial (Live at Wacken 2019) or Pit of Consciousness (Live in Kiev). I hope you continue this Jinjer journey! Awesome Reaction!

The guys were stuck in Kiev for quite awhile in the beginning of the war. Eugene has a moving video about being there and his family and fellow Ukrainians. Tatiana was with her husband (I think they got married) in California when it all started. Last year the guys were allowed to leave to go back on tour as Ambassadors of Ukraine. There’s a video from last years Grammys of President Zelenskyy taking about what’s happening in his country and about how music is such an important way to bring us together. Jinjer as a band and the four of them individually have all my love. They are the sweetest most down to earth people, and their talent is unmatched in my opinion. 🖤

Well said.. Transitions are crazy, one of the songs on my repeat list for sure.. Whoever mixed this one between the concert & video etc etc is a master, audio quality is great.

Yes, as suggested here, Vortex or Wallflower (official videos) for a taste of their most recently released stuff. Something maybe not to react to but for your own... I dunno, background information...,watch the Live in Melbourne version of this to see how their performance holds up flawlessly in a live setting

Check out Vortex or Wildflower. To hear how her voice is holding up. I watch an interview that they are working on new album. To be honest I'm not a screaming type but I really like hers. I really love the band the most they work so well together.

Tatian has said in interviews that she spends so much time writing lyrics that she feels like it would be a waste if she didn't try to make them easy to hear and understand whether she's singing or doing the harsh vocals. Having said that the harsh vocal technique she uses doesn't lend itself well to doing that. Especially when it's a low growl. Imagine trying to talk to someone and keeping your tongue rolled back inside your mouth and keeping your mouth only slightly open and rounded which is part of that technique. Her sound has evolved over time but mostly because she's evolved as a singer. She's now 36 years old and everyone's voice deepens over time. So this song is roughly around the middle of her 15 years of doing this. If you listen to earlier songs like "No Hoard of Value" or "Plus or Minus" or "Outlander" there is definitely a difference between her sound then and this song and then their newest songs. The biggest difference is their very early song "Scissors" which they recorded before Tatiana had mastered the really low growls. I've always felt that at that time she sounded more like Alysa from Arch Enemy. There is a song off of their King of Everything album called "I Speak Astronomy" which has some very high clean vocals. A live recording of that song done in Madrid around the time the Pisces video was done shows her putting a lot of grit into those notes almost as if they are hard for her to hit but later recordings show her doing them cleanly and when I saw them in Nashville last December she nailed them. So really she just used to put more grit in her clean vocals that she doesn't now purposefully. I'm sure she gets tired after shows but because this technique doesn't use the actual vocal chords it doesn't do the damage that it sounds like it would be doing. Jinjer used to have two guitar players. Their music has evolved over time and that has been part of it.

this song is one of my favorite Jinjer tracks...though it's really hard to rank them. They're so technically talented...very prog/fusion/polyrhythmic/jazzy.

Yeah, I keep on quoting some guys wiser than me who said independently: "Jinjer is incapable to write a bad song." And as they are more than competent to play their own music, well... Almost every song is a rollercoaster, You`ll never know what comes next. If you think you do, they simply change the song - and unlike rollercoasters you never know where you`ll end up! 😃🤘

I agree with you, MV: this song really gives lead signer Tati a chance to stretch. This band has some range, too. A more recent track you should listen to is called Vortex: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AiaOSGZTwtY.html

Jinjer is so bad ass. Tatiana is a true absolute superstar. The entire band is underrated, but she is a legit top 20 frontperson of all time, any genre. Just a legit icon. Dude...do you have a dog in there snoring? I was hearing something faintly in the background...at first I thought it was a vehicle outside, but it was too rhythmic. LMAO

Subscribed! Finally, a reactionary who doesn't pause a video every ten seconds to giggle and mumble some unintelligible European thing and then back it up five seconds, rinse, repeat. I found your reactions genuine and your commentary thoughtful and sound. I agree with you all the way here, including getting lost in there. Easy to do when I am fighting the urge to break all my own furniture. The best metal seems to make me want to do such things.🤘😫 From a fellow Pop collector (@gottalottapops), well done, sir. Well done. 👊😎

Check out pit of Consciousness live in Kiev it's one of their heavier songs. The music is so good it deserves a chefs kiss and Tatiana let's loose on her full range of growls.

You can start some old school Jinjer which is very fine, a bit more straight forward but also very impressive: Scissors, Outlander, Sit Stay and Roll Over, Cloud factory and my favorite; Who is Gonna be the One (the old live version): a blistering performance and showcase of brutal heavyness and very impressive musicality. And...work your way up ending wiht the newest stuff: Captain Clock, Retrospection, Perennial, Pit of Consciousness, Vortex, Mediator etcetera. Live is probably best, it's awesome to see her making the transitions with no effort.

"To see if they've altered ...over the years," even on the same album their tracks are different from each other. You will recognize a Jinjer song easily but you would not mistake which track you are hearing.

Hey Josh, nice reaction. I'd definitely check out Perennial (live from Wacken 2019 video), Judgement and Punishment (one take vocal performance video and Wallflower (official video). I saw them live in Boston this past November and I can verify that Tatiana can still pull off the vocals live!

Jinjer is a unique band. There are only a few bands I'd throw near there, like Opeth and Iwrestledabearonce. They have the musical talent to not easily be classified.

They've been going for 14 years (although 13 with Tatiana singing) so I guess this isn't really an 'older' track by their standards. Overall they've gone from being metalcore to more progressive over the years, and especially the last 3 albums. Her voice seems to sound better than ever tbh, and they gig relentlessly so she must be doing something right. I'd check out Pit of Consciousness live in Kiev next. But if you want a newer one then you can look at the music video for Vortex off their last album (about 18 months ago now).

i don't know how much you care about the musicianship in the band but if you do, i would recommend you do some of the guitar playthroughs this band puts out (without vocals)... specifically for this purpose i would recommend words of wisdom, outlander, captain clock, astronomy, plus or a minus.... some of these are good enough as songs to do a regular reaction (like astronomy or outlander) but some of them actually work better without the vocals (I'll be honest, tatiana wasn't always the quality of vocalist she is now) if you do this, you would be one out of just maybe 3 or 4 channels that realized you can also do guitar play throughs of jinjer as successful videos
