Really good episode of Solo Leveling, probably my favorite one. They absolutely snapped with the battle. For those that are wondering where the last few episode reactions are, I talk about it in the intro of this video! Thanks to yall, I was able to set my expectations to just expect some crazy action in this story.
The extra characters weren’t really given any character development in the manwha. A lot of these scenes they cut too are anime originals and it’s very obvious they only put that in there to increase the episode time.
Cant be said loud enough. Staying in video game terms since Jin Woo is playing one: He is about to finish the tutorial. Sadly that also means we will only be teased about Jin Woo's "Arise" (dont think that spoils anything and ill leave it at that) a little bit. And hopefully they earn enough money to adapt more because we havent even seen a glimpse of Jin Woo's power as he didnt even finish the tutorial... and with what follows the animation will be key.
This fight between Sung Jin Woo and Igris is the most anticipated fight for this series by far. I remember reading this fight back then when Solo leveling had 90 chapters. Igris is by far the first thing that comes to mind whenever I think about this series.
for me the most anticipated fight is actually with that ant, if your reading this dont spoil, but the event that happends in this current is also one of the most anticipated
So you are saying this is the best fight of the entire manhwa? everything will get worse from here? this fight was very good but it's not legendary, at least in the anime, not even top 10 best anime fights in history
The reason why there not too crazy with the characters right now is because 80% of these characters weren’t REALLY supposed to be even introduced until the end of S2. That’s why there Trying to build them up now. They’re going to get a whole lot Better later on.
@@muhdikmal3287yeah. the major complaints about the Manwha is that the characters weren’t flushed out enough and got introduced way too late. Not only is the anime adapting the light novel (original) but they are also adding a ton of anime only scenes to better the characters AND the story
@@moomooha234that cut was to show the time. It was 11 pm at that time remember Jin-woo hasn't completed his daily quest yet and he has to complete it before 12
The fact that Igris was holding back 💀 Igris went full Broly mode in this episode... The best episode so far in solo leveling in 2024 season 1, Igris vs Jin tops. 🔥 A1 gave solo leveling the love it DESERVED, season 2 will 100% get 50x better and fights.
You can say it gets even better, but saying "50x better" sets anime only's expectations insanely high. I remember a manga reader for MHA said the Overhaul arc was as good as Yorknew from Hunter X Hunter a year before it got animated. My enjoyment of the arc would have been much higher if that one manga reader didn't set the bar THAT high lol
8:53 You have to "thank" the webtoon readers for the side character interruptions. They were the ones complaining about SL not having enough "side character development" and that's why A-1 decided to include these side characters moments in the anime. The Webtoon didn't have that, in the webtoon it's straight action without interruption
I like the cuts, makes it feel more 3 dimensional because in the manwha, I couldn't care less about the plot/other characters. Now, there's at least a little bit to work off of. I could see how it would be annoying if you're really looking forward to the action though, but this anime has more than enough action to make up for it imo.
@@moomooha234 The reason why I love the Solo Leveling webtoon is because the story is scentered around Sung Jin Woo and his unique power to be the only one who levels up. In my opinion the webtoon showed the right amount of side character development. The Solo Leveling story doesn't need side characters with deep backgrounds and character development. They just need to show enough information for people to get the idea about those side characters but since they're not the main focus of the story, they don't need some complex backstory and ambitions. I strongly believe that the Solo Leveling story is perfect the way it is in terms of "side characters".
@@ShadowSparksX I read most of the manhwa, and it's pretty good, but I was starting to get disengaged near the end because I didn't really care what happened next. But maybe that's just the effect of a boring plot. In an animated format, I feel like there's more information being conveyed. In the jinho scene with his father and brother, you could hear his voice and his subtle behaviors that you can't pick up in a webtoon format. But most of this is personal preference. I like getting to see people other than jinwoo. In most animes the MC gets like 60% attention and 40% are on the other charcters. In the webtoon I would say it's more like a 95% 5% split. And the anime adaptation is maybe 85-90% jinwoo, so I feel like there's a bigger benefit from more screentime of the side characters. Also I like how they're keeping Jeju Island in the back of your mind and that adds to the gravitas of the situation on the island. The webtoon feels more forced and less natural imo. Plus the interruptions weren't too jarring for me since it's similar to how most anime is. Although, I do concede that it relieves the build of hype and that doesn't make it peak as hard as shows like Demon Slayer that have periods of 10-20 minutes of action. But perhaps it's better that we get interruptions in the first cour as opposed to when things start to ramp up further.
@@ShadowSparksX nah they shafted the side characters pretty hard later on, i literally don't care about anyone aside from Jinwoo, even cha hae in and Jinho aint really on my mind most of the time, i mean if them being just barely developed is perfect to you then i guess it is perfect lol
Bro you need to read more manga if you think the story was good enough without side characters, it was legit just a boring constant fighting power fantasy with the most basic boring characters and decent art
I like his videos for the most part but I have to admit, as a fellow New Yorker, he can be difficult to watch. He embodies almost every negative stereotype that exists for a New Yorker. I'm not sure how much is him just playing it up because he knows it'll bring views and how much is ACTUALLY him but he can be real rough to watch at times...
@HorrorISPassion for reall.. finished the manhwa.. but it just nothing special the more and more u read it. i ended up skipping all the fights caused i know the result already ....
Nick's criticism is fair since even in the Manwha, Jin Wuu was the only actual character while the others were cardboard cutouts. I appreciate that the anime is trying to improve them, but let's be real here, they're just there to hype the MC.
That was my biggest critism. Jinwoo 'solos' so much in the manhwa that he had basically no relationship to people even by the time he gets registered as an S rank. I was happy to see the effort put into fleshing out the 'cardboard cutouts' as you say, but I'm not sure they're using the best methods since they keep interrupting big Jinwoo moments to cut away to them.
yes its fair, in a vacuum. BUT.......hes also been hyping Ninja Kamui, which compared to solo leveling, might as well have a story written by ChatGPT. Plus its not something that should be deterring him from watching the show, since its not what anyone watches or reads it for lol. Like when watching Demon Slayer, just turn your brain off and enjoy lol.
I still liked the characters well enough. I'm only sad they barely got to show what they're capable of, but they were likable enough. Or maybe it doesn't take much for me to like a character. I'm already glad when they're not annoying af like most anime characters. I'm also a bit sad people talk about the side characters this way without including the... you know... because in my eyes they are the actual side characters
@@zap7737 Yeah Ninja Kamui really is garbage from a lot of standpoints. Pretty much the only redeeming quality is the action sequences, and that cannot carry an IP to the pinnacle by itself.
I'm fine with that. Solo Levelling is like the inverse of JJK in terms of how integral the protagonist is to the plot throughout the episodes. Jin Woo is actually performing his role well as the main character, unlike Itadori (yes I'm judging Itadori too harshly perhaps and based on two seasons unlike Solo Leveling's one season, but I am immensely disappointed at how flat the main character for JJK is compared to its more interesting side characters. Though to me I prefer Solo Leveling's way of slowly building up the plot and and easier-to-follow power scaling)
It's so funny how anime onlies will think that the first 12 episodes are like "the first arc", but the contents of EP 12 literally spell THE BEGINNING. You know, and everyone else will know too, soon..
The characterization that leaves you disappointed has been added to what the manwha had, which was mostly the action you crave. But the original novels had a lot more about the characters than the manwha does at this point. The anime producers felt an anime adaption would be too shallow if it were solid action, so they are filling us in to information that readers of the original novel source know. It's not 1:1, but the manwha left a lot out, and I'm glad the anime is adding it back in. And keeping the awesome action and vivid style and frames from the manwh.a⬅ So you'll have to live with light touches of characterization and world building. They'll all coalesce into awesomeness once their roles become narratively vital. You won't be left wondering, where the F did these guys come from? The world is much bigger than Jin-woo and what he personally experiences.
Yeah and u find people going to trash talk blindly against a1 studio for no reason. They're trying they're best to find s reason to define the adaption trash
@@Sawa1698Laugh all you want weirdo, this is a series that made Manhwa popular world wide and redefined a lot of tropes for action series, so it objectively is a masterpiece, trying do deny it means you have no idea of what you're talking about.
I believe that you aren't able to connect with other characters yet is because they haven't been interacting with Jinwoo (MC) yet. Every anime in which people care about other characters is when those characters start interacting with the main character. So it's understandable. You will start liking them in cour 2.
there's nothing in in cour 2 also. new characters and they died instantly, MC keep whooping god tier enemy with ez, strong enemy keep coming. bruh why not the monarch attack the humanity at the first place. with that power they can whoop jinwoo a$$ with ezz
Trust me jumping to other characters is gonna help tons to understand the future of the show, as someone who has read the manwha they are doing a great job protaining everything!
Had goosebumps the whole episode 🙈and these is just the beginning 😋after these 2 episodes his drip, sauce and jinho will be surprised how strong his boss will become 💪
FOR SURE currently The BEST ANIMATIONS OF 2024.......this EPISODE was INSANE!!! The Animations in the fight was like one of the BEST ANIMATIONS I HAVE SEEN TILL NOW! 10/10... A-1 Studios whose name idts many people have heard...is competing with MAPPA,TOEI and UFOTABLE level ANIMATIONS quality which is AMAZING! Really EXCITED to see HOW FAR CAN THIS SERIES Go!?

A1 has way better animation in SAO. Hope they follow SAO level animation in next seasons
Uframetable CGI impact lmao Then Its gonna be CGI Leveling also Fate animation Team?? what is bro yapping about Solo Leveling Studio is also did Fate, Its Fate Strange Fake, Fate Apocrypha, Fate Grand Order Babylonia and Fate Grand Order PV
I honestly don't understand why they fumbled the bag like this. At this point of the story nobody cares about the ant island, BECAUSE IT WASN'T EVEN INTRODUCED YET! And they did it so poorly you can't give a shit.
Nick saying I don't care about these side characters my mind instantly replied you'll soon just keep watching these 12 episodes are literally just the beginning of story
It's crazy that A1 is actually doing a way better job developing these side characters compared to the manhwa, in the manhwa every single other character has essentially 0 screen time in these episodes, and when they do appear later on they feel like fodder. Honestly, I applaud them for trying
the reason why you feel like that about the other characters maybe that would be because what we are seeing now from the side characters is almost all filler it doesn't exist in the manhwa. in the manwha most of them don't appear until later at least not in depth like this but yeah i don't know its just speculation. hope it helps
A1 studios went above and beyond i remember the manwha was hype af picture perfect i think we all were anxious to see how well this would be animated and A1 did not dissapoint in fact the opp also that VA was on some next level and the OST was beutifull
The best i swear 💜 Igris is awesome, i recently read the manga after i watched the first 6 episode of Solo Leveling, and it sucked me in. I needed to know everything. Sung is absolutely my favourite right now. 💜💜💜🔥
Imma echo what everyone is saying. this is nothing compared to what’s coming next. I got so excited that I spoiled pretty much the entire lore of the anime. dayum this is gonna be history
When he said that i instantly remember that solo leveling just keeps getting better throughout the whole series at least in terms of giving chills to the audience. Power fantasy series has a problem that it's get repetitive afterwards and solo leveling is not a exception but Solo Leveling always manages to give you the satisfaction that you want even you know what's going to happen
@@SungJinwoo_. Yes I agree...I still feel the same excitement whenever I re read the manhwa...its artwork is just amazing...the anime is doing really good... But the future fight sequences need to be more well animated which is not very easy task for projects like solo leveling... However still hoping for the best
@@RukshanaBegum-yt1nb After seeing this episode i hope they keep up the quality like they're doing up until now. Now i get it why they were holding back in the animation quality in some fight because in 2nd cour they will have to spend a massive amount of budget to animate those arc's and it's risky because fans expectations are way too much but i hope they will at least do us justice like they did in this episode even if they can't do better than this
when i saw the next episode was called "Arise", my heart skipped a beat. It's been a year or two since i read the manhwa, but that single word is like the herald of peak and as for all the characters you don't have a reason to care about now, they'll be more intwined with the protagonist within, i'd guess, the next 3 episodes or so. it'll also introduce another one i love to bits, we love Beru in this household
I may be one of the few to think that but even if Solo Leveling is packed with action, there a lot more than just that. And many people who didn't read the novel (but the manhwa) don't have the same attachment to the story. Is not only an action show, this season is JUST a "prologue".
nahhh igris and arise is the PEAK of solo leveling, after this just repetitive jinwo whooping god tier monster. nothing interesting with S tier character, new character died instanly (like why u need those new character in the first place) story wisee just mid after mid
if youre looking for a less action centric anime then i suggest starting frieren yes it has action but it takes a backseat and focuses more on the story.
Anyone else starting to feel jipped by every RU-vidr moving content to Patreon? I get it, but I also just want to watch my favorite shows with other people and feel the collective enjoyment, and now even RU-vid feels like a gateway to influencer versions of streaming services like how Hulu will show a movie but only available through a paid subscription to peacock or something. Mini rant. Love the reactions so much.
Without going into any spoilers: This is not the pinnacle of Solo Leveling in any way, shape or form. This is his job-change quest and his job is a core element of the entire story, so the entire first 12 episodes are merely setting the groundwork for the real Solo Leveling to START. To compare it to a more well-known anime. Imagine that these first 12 episodes are attack on titan up until the point that Eren comes back as a titan. If you grasp how important him being a titan was for the remaining story going forward, then you have a general idea of where this is headed and how "pre-Titan-Eren AoT" would compare to the mountain that is "post-Titan-Eren AoT"
If you're watching Solo Leveling for story then it won't please you till season 3 or 4......it's just pure action after season 1 and that's exactly why I love Solo Leveling so much!!!
Not the power up but the iq of how to defeat Igris cuz he got some free time And why the villan give him the free time ? Just bcz he was not ordered to kill him
He litterally caught Igris lacking He baired him into thinking he was done, that is prob why he could catch that blade slash (also specific gloves to negate damage), no need to go full power on dead meat, then he stabbed him on the eye off guard. Besides Igris was holding back overall
Yall taking this way too seriously lmao. If u couldn't tell, I'm joking but it is kind of funny since this sort of thing does happen in solo leveling a lot.
I think there are some shows that are just better to watch binging and not weekly. Like the majority of the anime I’ve watched are not weekly; there’s no way I’d weekly watch like a slice of like anime or whatever. And solo leveling is one of those shows that’s better on back to back episodes. And that’s okay!
Lmao. Trust me, the story doesn't fall off after this. Also, I understand why you don't care about the side characters. In the webcomic, you wouldn't even be seeing most of them until what will be season 2 of the anime. I guess they're introducing them early in a lot of this anime-only content to speed-up the world-building. I personally don't mind it, but it is pretty funny to introduce these story beats that won't see any resolution until whenever the heck season 2 drops. People will have to re-watch season 1 at that time just to remember who these people even are.
To me, I'm already intrigued about the world-building, so I don't mind seeing the characters. Maybe the pacing is hampered by the show introducing them at random moments throughout the episodes, but to me the fights are still intriguing enough for me to tolerate those side characters getting screen time. I'm looking forward to seeing who they really are in the next season.
I like your reactions though I did find your explanation a little odd, weren't the last couple of episodes, not that action filled, they were more set up? Theres nothing wrong with saying you enjoy action more x
This isn't the peak of solo leveling, the main story haven't even started. Jin woo is currently going through his grinding phase. Jeju Island will be the start of peak
you are wrong about side chars being boring, but i felt that way too when i was progressing manga, its just that you dont know those guys in suits yet so you dont care, just as i was swiftly dashing through their dialogs, anyways really nice episode, glad you had fun with it! to me this story became one of my all time best! it will only get more attractive from now on
12:22 Snake ? Lizards ? Cerberus ? in future episodes yea, but so far, i can't think of many MCs that got fucked up in 11 episodes as many times as jin woo. it's like u read some criticism about the full manhwa (which is valid for manhwa but can be fixed in anime) and said it now (which is too early)
I know nick you have been watching a lot of action lately and you want to crave something different and in that case solo leveling wont do the job because the plot is kinda mid but we are all here for jinwoo's badassness and beleive me the action wont disappoint you from hereon as jjnwoo will unlock his actual powers next episode. Also a side note they are building up for a quest called jeju which imo is one of the best arcs in the mahwha...and these are anime original and I really appreciate the anime studios giving so much effort innit
