Jinx - A Review 

When I looked up a review of this game to jog my memory of it, I didn't expect to find someone talking about it as recent as the year 2020. Nobody I've ever talked to even knows of it's existance.

My uncle did the animations for this game, Steve Ackah, was one of the last few PS1 games ever published. Have like 4 copies of this at home :') Hammerhead went bust right after this

Spent hours on the demo disc but never bought full game. Either young me was wise or I lucked out xD

It's also very hard for kids to relate to an unfunny Jester who doesn't even talk- your protagonist has to have some sort of personality.

Oooh an obscure platformer that's just ok...i can imagine i would've liked this as a kid. Another cool athough obscure jester in fiction is Malcolm from Legend of Kyrandia. Overall a very entertaining review once again Tori! Idk but i always enjoy Spyro inspired games as well so.

It's all coming back to me The weird jump, the soundtrack that sounds like every other budget PS1 platformer, the same sound effects as Stuart Little 2 on PS1, the heckin' keys and beach balls, the bloody cows etc etc This game shouldn't really exist as it was doomed to obscurity from the beginning but it's weirdly got a soft spot for a few of us despite everything going against it. As I've said numerous times, I'm kind of bummed there isn't an easily accessible ISO anywhere on the internet (wink wink nudge nudge) and physical copies being like 40 quid. Let my younger self have fun, dang it! Great as always, frienderino!

Great review! Funnily enough as a young kid the fact the main character was a Jester was what drew me to the game. I remember loving the game, but replayed it recently and it was more difficult to play than I remembered. The momentum issue could be really annoying in places, making some jumps take longer than they should have, or more lives. Still a decent enough game but I definitely agree with your review haha. Earned a sub from me, look forward to more reviews :)

When I say this title and thumbnail i didn’t think much about it but as soon as I saw the gameplay i recognised it straight away, can’t really remember any details but I definitely played it in my younger years before my mind decided to sweep it under the rug. Also I have your nearly impossible to read message and yes, the last bit is definitely accurate

Jinx has been my favourite game, the game design, its music they all have been awesome.

While this game looks like a valiant job at jumping on the 3D platforming bandwagon, it sadly came out way too late. By 2003, the ps2 had been out for 2-3 years, Spyro 3 was 3 years old and games like Jak & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank were already out. If they had released it on PS2 and tweaked it a bit, it MIGHT have stood a chance, possibly falling into the same category as games like Ty the Tasmanian Tiger (which is already superior to this game).

So...this is a younger, dumber brother of Spyro, and possibly a half brother Crash as well.

This is the first time I've even seen someone else aware of this games existence, I was beginning to think I Mandella effected this game into existence

Wow 2003 !😆!I love hearing about unknown colorful games.😗I'll stick with Fargus the jester from PS1 Pandemonium instead 😅 I like how the life icon in Jinx is lively animated. It's the lil details☺️

I remember seeing this game in various magazines and whatnot back in the day and I was absolutely baffled why it got released on the PS1.

I'm not gonna lie, I didn't have much problem reading that Gothic font you used. I feel like there are way more illegible fonts out there. But I did used to read old hand-written letters during history lessons, so maybe I'm just jaded when it comes to indecipherable writing. And yeah, I probably do have way too much time on my hands. :(

Wow that PS1 looks kinda very interesting. Its gameplay seems to be very similar to the classic PS1/Insomniac era of Spyro series. I've heard about it alright but I've never played it on Sony PS1 nor PS2 before. I've also heard it came out only in Europe and Australia. It never came out in North America such as the USA 🇺🇸 and Canada 🇨🇦. 2003 was bit too late for the era of Sony PS1, wasn't it? Anyway greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪

Yes you are so right I never heard of this game but then again I never heard of a lot of games that was on PlayStation me being a kid if I seen the game on TV I would ask my mom and dad to get the game or if I wood go buy a game store in something just catches my eye I will pick it up never really paid attention to a lot of games

Theres some really odd PS1 games, i thought this was going to be a funny/bad game review but i want to try it out now, I love the original spyro games and jinx does look very close in style did you look up that game Excalibur 2555 AD i told you about?

UK mcdonalds demo disk had this, thought I had a fever dream and dreamt the game up

Good graphics aside, it doesn't really appeal to me. I would say that it should have been released on PS2, but I guess they would have had limited resources and a tight budget. I know another PS1 game where you can play as a jester, as well as a sorceress. Pandemonium, along with its sequel. And, predictably enough, he's just as crazy as Joker, Kefka and Clopin and is a pyromaniac, but still a good guy, nevertheless. You should review the Pandemonium games if you haven't already.

And I just preordered SpongeBob Battle for bikini bottom

Fantastic video on a game that no one talks about. Had this back in the day and despite the obvious jank, it's nostalgic to see it again.

Why would they release a Ps1 game in 2003 only in Europe?

I was just arranging my games library into a place I moved into and rediscovered the jinx cd and was like huh, wonder if anyone else remembers this. Great video.

You forgot to mention how long it takes you to do the hunter mission after getting the head Bash The jester from this game remind me a lot of the jester from Devil May Cry 3 8:51 looks like the crabs from South Park Was it me or did anyone else think that when crash did his dance, he was insinuating something. 😉

I just came from Sega super Nintendo and Nintendo I thought the demos PlayStation that you get in the box I thought they were full games and I was wondering why are they so short

I actually wanted this game but I was never able to find a copy without paying an arm and a leg on shipping. I guess that's a good thing.

Yup, we didn't get this one in the Americas. Watching your video, at first I thought:"How did they not release it, it looks super fun!" But after the full review I can see why they did not launch a spyroish copy in the market when players were already playing the likes of Jak and Daxter or Ratchet and Clank.

Okay I finally got all of my work done, I can finally watch a Toridori video- ...Oh no, not Jinx. I got this as a present one birthday. I remember playing it once for about an hour, then never picking it up again. So my memory is a little fuzzy on what happened in the game. Kinda wished it stayed fuzzy, oops. Luckily your fun editing makes it more entertaining.

Great review of Jinx. He seemed to lack any character. And I am from the U.S. So I don't know what the game is like.

This seems like a game you would play when you just want to be lazy and relax, something simplistic. Almost like a special genre all on its own.
