A late response, but I know what you mean. I have my Black Belt grade scheduled for the end of this year and people automatically assume I'm a cage fighter when I tell them
the kid in the background that is running around is also having a jiu jutsu sparring with his imaginary friend but he's just running away cause his imaginary friend is a red belt.
Yes, most of the stuff we do is self-defence based. So we would train against attack scenarios with resistance and intent. In these situations punches, throws, locks and breaks are not flashy like the ones in the demonstration video above, they are direct, fast and effective aimed to deal with the attacker as quickly as possible.
@@Skedge Well that’s what this is doing, it’s taking down an opponent without severely injuring them though so it’s even better, it’s like defending yourself by stopping the person attacking you
@@Skedge If you're a sane person, the first incoming blow will be unexpected most of the time, since you're not supposed to be the agression's initiator. Even if afterwards you amp up the aggression, you better be able to defend the first hit. There's not much use being a good aggressive fighter if you didn't stop a stab. Now you're lying in a pool of your own fluids on a cold street minus your wallet.
Just saw this, ( recommended) I did ju-jitsu, when I was a younger man, then life got in the way ( as they say) ... Fast forward, tried some other disciplines... Now that I am older, oh how I wish that I had kept it up Ju- ju-jitsu...the gentle art...🦋
Just to be clear, this is not bjj, it JJ. I was actually blessed to be able to learn both, jj is the father of both bjj and judo. And this has more takedowns, kinda more on judo
i do jui jitsu and let me tell you, after training today, i can't move. i'm in so much genuine pain that every time i stand up i collapse, idk if i'll be able to get out of bed for school tomorrow
so glad I finally have a vid I can show when someone asks what Traditional Jiu Jitsu is :) Because if I let them search on their own, they for sure will find BJJ :)
@@majmx Lo tendre en cuenta. Pero un tengo un par de Dudas: ¿A que se refiere con que es muy pesado? Y Escuche que en Jiu Jitsu tambien se practican Golpes, ¿Es cierto?
Anyone 2020?anyways i learned jiu jitsu,at first i thought it was useless in fights with unskilled dude who fight raw,Actually is very usefull and im thankfull i learned it
I’d do: (1) Jujutsu (there are many styles, but Aiki-Jujutsu is my favorite due to the atemi-waza and weapons training - same with Tenshin Aikido, which comes from it); (2) judo (developed by Kano Jigoro as a sports discipline for Japanese students, and based on traditional jujutsu like Tenjin Shinyo-ryu); and (3) Brazilian Jujutsu, which focuses on the ne-waza (lying or ground holds) of Judo’s katame-waza (grappling techniques), after Kano’s students (who still referred to the art as jujutsu) visited Brazil. One martial art is never enough. You need to address different situations in combat, just like the samurai did when they were disarmed. They didn’t just practice one style. They studied them all.
Can I just add a bit of history here first of all jujitsu was the first actual combat form in japan it was brutal not much like the jujitsu of today from it developed aikido and judo both of which are specifically sport orientated although they maintain their martial ways actually the word martial is very loosely used as its proper interpretation is that of war and lastly to finish this is a demonstration so obviously the two students are going to show the artistic side to the art
This is amazing to see, years of training for sure, but almost looks like choreographed big time wrestling show. BTW can people with very high BMI learn this?
