This was AR Rahman at his finest....dil se, Roja and Bombay was just the best in music from him....he is still amazing but that was his most popular time
The old lady who was dancing towards the end of the video is Zohra Sehgal, one of the biggest names in Indian theatre. She started off her career as a dancer in the troupe of Uday Shankar (brother of Pandit Ravi Shankar), one of India's pioneering modern dancers. She eventually moved into theatre and movies. We were lucky to have had her for over a 100 years. But more than anything, she was a symbol of a progressive India.
Ur right Rick.....SRK is definitely underestimated.... atleast when it comes to his acting coz most of the time it's his stardom overshadowing his actor's side... If people see him as SRK the actor rather than "SUPERSTAR" SRK.... they would realise that he truly is a gem of an actor😍😍❤️❤️
Anurag Kashyap the director who is one of the best in India right now is actually a fan of SRK and thinks that SRK is underutilized actually has said that he wants to do at least 1 film with SRK before he retires. Tighmanshu Dhulia another great contemporary director in his interview actually said that as per him the only main stream Megastar capable of doing a world class role is SRK. Please don't compare SRK with people like Ranveer (Ranveer is a very good actor) because had SRK been given scripts in 90s that Ranveer gets now he would have given memorable performances. Naseeruddin Shah once said that SRK had the potential to be the next Amitabh Bacchan or the next Naseeruddin and he chose to be Amitabh referring to the fact that just like Big B he had great talent but just as young Big B chose to be a star rather than exploring the brilliance of his talent SRK did the same. If you really want to know him as an actor watch his earlier short films which very few people have seen.
The location is the apparent "God's own country" - Kerala 😌😌 Here's the Malayalam part lyrics- Punchiri thanji konjikko Smile and flirt with me Munthiri mutholi chinthikko Think of kisses sweet as grape Monjani varna chundari vaave Oh, you beautiful girl. Thaankunakka thakathimi (drum beats basically, there's no meaning here) aadum thankanilaave, hoy Dance in the golden moonlight Thanka kolusalle Aren't you like a golden anklet? Kurukum kuyilalle Aren't you like a cooing koel? Maaran-a mayilalley Aren't you your lover's peacock? Rights to the song "chaiya chaiya" was bought by producers of the Hollywood movie called "inside man". My jaws dropped when I saw the classic Universal studios globe rotation scene with "chaiya chaiya" playing in the background.
Most of SRK's popular movies from that time aren't actually good movies that you guys would enjoy watching...but he has some really good movies which didn't work out commercially as people didn't want him to experiment much..he was typecast as the romance king, & whenever he tried to do something new, the audience rejected him There are popular SRK movies, there are good SRK movies, & then there are great SRK movies Sadly the popularity & box-office numbers of his films are usually inversely proportional to what the movie has to offer, barring a few exceptions
Darr or Baazigar (SRK started with negative characters as no one was ready to do it) and he got awards for them too. The best negative character award. Both are good. People can like if they agree with me 💛
Jesse Eisenberg watched the movie "Darr" where SRK was playing a negative roll and took some nuances and applied them when he played Lex Luthor in Batman vs Superman. So u should watch 'Darr'. Period.
@@aditisk99 Where did who mention what? If you're referring to the main comment, I think he's just recommending OSR to watch Darr, through the medium of Jesse Eisenberg's help
This is a beautiful movie... Priety Zinta's character was so good in this she is such a good actress she was just the freshness in movie.. and Manisha Koiralla awesome actress
"unity in diversity is India's strength. There is simplicity in every Indian. There is unity in every corner of india. This is our strength." Muskurayega INDIA 😄😄😄
Finallyyyyy! Now *PLEASE DO SATRANGI RE* from that same movie, then you can watch it lol (For real Satrangi Re is stunning, the choreography is amazing and it was shot in Ladakh near ancient monasteries, you have to react to it!)

Back in 1998 i had a magnetic tape and cassette player and i was 16 years old. Listen to the six songs so much the tape got distorted . Almost best songs of their careers 1)Jiya Jale - Lata Didi 2) Chahiya Chayiyan - Sukhwinder 3) Satrangi - Sonu 4) Ae Ajnabhi - Udit Narayan 5) Dilse ( Ar Rahman , the Maestro himself) Out of these deepest song is Satrangi and the peppy one Chayiyan Chayiyan

I got chills and goosebumps whenever I listen Dil se movie songs! Bollywood can easily overtake any countries music if they make this kind of stuff again.

Watch 'Pardes'..an amazing SRK movie. It has got some cheese (as you call it), many dramatic sequences, but it is surely one the best 90s movies with which every Indian and western audience can relate to. And it is always running on our channels, so we have kind of grown up watching this movie.
The song is so beautiful. I love the malayalam bits more though. They sound so beautiful, so rhythmic, and musical. I wish I could speak one of the S Indian languages.
Lata Mangeshkar, the nightengale of India has sung this song when she was in her 70s. The song is picturised on 22 year actress. Pertinent to mention, Lata Mangeshkar has sung her first song in 1942.
This is the great "Maniratnam's" world of film making. He is an iconic director and almost every film of his (barring a very few) have been a milestone in Indian cinema. You should check out more of his films!!!
