Hey, White Folks Here. I speak for all our people when I say Kendrick Perkins ain’t part of the black or the white delegation. I'm guessing the Asian or Hispanic delegation ain't interested in trade talks for him either. Carry on!
Why is nobody talking about the fact that until this year, for the last 7 years EVERY mvp was the #1 rated with player efficiency rating (per). This is an objective measure of a player's overall impact on the game. Who was #1 in per the last 2 years AND this year as well? Jokic.
@@sheekennmove I still have no idea who Kendrick Perkins is. That 08 team was Garnett, Allen, Pierce, Rondo and then a bunch of subs so the stars could catch their breath.
Hi, I'm from Serbia. I watched NBA for 30 + years. Stayed up all night to marvel at players who played this beautiful game. Never have I praised, judged, criticize or hated players for the colour of their skin. In fact growing up we all wanted to be like, Magic, Jordan, Barkley, Shaq, Kobe... and then our guys started coming to NBA Divac, Kukoc, Stojaković... and we where so proud of them for compiting whit best basketball players in the world. I just can't understand this division on black / white players. You either know how to play the game and make it beautiful or you don't. Your skin color has nothing to do with it.
Hi, I'm from Croatia... and don't worry, cause they're all on steroids... except maybe Durant and Dončić. .... aand maybe Iverson, cause he's my favourite!-)
As a female DENVER NUGGETS die hard fan the way the coastal elites on ESPN have treated Jokic all season is shameful. He is something that they obviously hate, a solid team player-they love their gang banger’s doing gangster things in the strip clubs after the game. What do they make of an actual humble, honest good MAN?! They trash him. He goes home to his family and he takes care of business. His wicked sense of humor completely went unnoticed. We need him and our CHILDREN need his understated persona to look up to. Our country, our children is sickened by the social media. We are tired of fighting and awful behavior. Let’s celebrate kindness, humility and compassion towards one another. What a FANTASTIC ROLE MODEL
Kendrick Perkins is one of those people where you can win an argument simply by saying nothing and letting them speak. They will help you by digger a deeper and deeper hole for themselves.
the problem though is those types of people tend to be too stupid to realize when you've cornered them in an argument and will just keep going. So if they arent self aware enough to notice when they eff up can you really beat them?
Oh I heard the MVP trophy was changed this year for Embiid. Instead of it depicting a man dribbling a basketball, it's a golden bust of Kendrick Perkins crying. 😭🏆😭
Chuck not having a vote is another reason the MVP award is basically a joke now.. Starting with Westbrick, then Jocic last year. Idk about Nash, bc Kobe DQ because his team winning %
JJ Reddick sighting Analytics he has absolutely no idea they were created by a middle aged Wht dude who counts at assist 1.3x a point & a steal is worth 3x a blocked shot - I could go on & on.... I got no prob w/ Jokic - it's the racist a/f NBA media I have an issue with - in NBA history we had ONE 4 seed & ONE 6 seed MVP in 66 YEARS & they just gifted Jokic 2 MVP"s as a 4 & 6 seed when dude gotta be subbed off b/c he's so weak on Def & he's Not a late game Closer..... Meanwhile Embiid carrying Bum Simmons & Tobias Harris - the Worst #2 & #3 of Any playoff team - getting Triple teamed & Still Dominating at Both ends taking Phila to 1 & 2 seed last few years..... This is classic racism - invented accomplishments for the European while creating obstacles for the African...... So even though MVP has been a 1 or 2 seed 98% of the time in NBA History..... NBA media CHANGE their own rules to screw Embiid & gift Jokic & now b/c Denver is a one seed they pull the one seed back out their azz to justify once again screwing over the outspoken African If the crooked NBA media just stuck to their own rules the last 2 yrs or even if they just gave Jokic One MVP as a 4 seed - No one would have a prob w/ Jokic winning this yr as a One seed but b/c they everyone Knows what occurred the last 2 yrs NBA fans AND players who look like ME know Exactly what's going on & we aint having it We heard the Same ish when Kobe & Lebron were Robbed of MVP's to give Nash fugazi MVP's - of well Nash is a One seed so we Have to give it ton him..... So over privileged Duke Boy JJ can talk all the bull ish he likes - we know what's going on
@@---kr3zg I know right? It's like, dude I heard you the first 18 times. Perk's just making noise cause he's a chump and is at least aware enough to realize he's about to get owned on national tv by an up and comer analyst who actually understands the intricacies of a game you're pretending to have an in depth understanding of, and if he's allowed to make his points uninterrupted, then Perkins is going to look like a tool. I've been a fan of Reddick from his game, his shot, and his game/player analysis, but I believe I've surpassed that level of fandom and upgraded to plutonic man-crushin... Minus the plutonic... 😍
Major props to JJ for going against this idiot and liar. He can't even say a coherent thought. If Russ was crucified, why did the voters give him the MVP? And if he thinks Russ wasn't stat padding, why is it wrong for Jokić to average a triple double? Porkins has Forrest Gump's stupidity, without the kindness.
Perk isn't wrong about Russ being crucified for stat padding. He was. It's not that everyone was crucifying him. You can't get that many people to agree on one thing. There was a segment that started off smaller and over the years got larger who kept saying Russ was padding his stats. Which he was although I would add that averaging a triple double is still impressive. Some people downplayed how good he was because of it and some people completely shit on his name allegedly because of it but probably because of something entirely different in truth. Perk is talking all kinds of hot garbage but that doesn't mean every single thing he says is wrong. Yeah Russ won MVP but that doesn't mean he wasn't getting called out at all. Perk is wrong because he wants to insinuate Jokic doesn't get the same treatment because he's white when the objective and documented truth is Jokic isn't playing garbage minutes or doing anything else that would lead people to view him as a "stat padder". If you want to call out Perk, call his ass out for saying "I'm not afraid to say" without actually finishing the damn sentence. He's not saying anything. He's insinuating and when JJ said Perk was calling MVP voters racist essentially Perk was quick to deflect. How you gonna say I'm not afraid to say something and then not say it? Come on now!
There is only one accurate thing that Perkin said, Kobe shoulda got the 2006 MVP. He dropped a 81 point game that year with a 61% fg% and carried that lakers team to the playoffs... Kobe was easily the best player in the NBA at the time.
This should have been the last day at ESPN for Perkins. I understand these ppl need to hype up stuff for ratings but this is so wrong on so many levels.
@@gtt8428 I don't think this is evidence that black people secretly hold all the power in this country. I think it actually points to the contrary, if the folks running the show actually had black people's best intentions at heart, they wouldn't allow clowns like this to remain as representation of the black community on this public forum. This just reinforces the narrative that black people are rewarded in this society for acting like childish narcissists who harbor a victim mentality, when in reality that attitude poisons the community, or at the very least annoys the hell out of everyone. Anyone who already has a bad impression of black people who sees this kind of shit all over TV is not likely to change their mind. Black folks need to call this shit out where they see it, not for anyone's sake but their own. Everyone needs good representation and this is not it.
When he mentions the races ratio of the people who voted for MVP, did he not realise that that same ratio voted all the other times an MVP was named...🤦🏽♂️😂
My brain melts all over again every time I hear this take. There's nothing worse than someone who makes false discrimination claims. All it is is crying wolf, and it delegitimizes *real* discrimination complaints that should be getting awareness. You're part of the problem, Kendrick.
@@MrCedimaan it matter mvp is a standard of player I agree jokic is good not great yet plus he doesn’t play defence as a centre which crazy in itself. But no player in nba other than nash hasn’t won chip and Barkley whatever dude should have gotten 1 mvp in my opinion
In my personal opinion, at this point. Only former MVPs should vote on mvp. And if there’s not enough voters than go to finals mvps to fill out the list.
And just like that big Perk took the “Skip Bayless, Worst Sports Analyst” trophy from Nick Wright. It’s worth noting that with this one take, Perk now enjoys a significant lead over Nick in bad takes.
Excuse me, why should Nash not have won it? He led a bottom of the barrel team to the best record within a year despite the team staying basically the same apart from him taking over command on the court. He absolutely had a case for MvP based on that alone just like Bird had a case, and in fact should have imho, to win finals MvP in 81. I do not mind that people argue for Kobe since Kobe was terrific and absolutely had a legit case too but come on.
What stands out about Nash, Nowitzki and Jokić is that they were born and raised outside the United States, where white basketball players aren't discriminated against.
I’m convinced the hatred of Jokic is mostly aesthetic. His athleticism, the way he plays doesn’t fit the aesthetic of other NBA players. People say it doesn’t look like he’s trying, or his shot looks goofy, but clearly his shooting percentage and scoring isn’t an issue! Even if he doesn’t have the right type of aesthetic or flair with most of his game, no one can deny how beautiful his passing game is. Lastly, and sadly not least, his skin color is not right. I don’t think his haters would admit to this part, but a lot of the criticism seems to stem from this. To be fair, basketball culture does focus more on the aesthetic of players than do sports like hockey. But Jokic plays the game beautifully, regardless of whether it fits the current norms.
Yes, exactly. Jokić doesn't embody what most people think about when they think about NBA players, let alone star NBA players. Joel Embiid, Lebron James, Luka Dončić, Steph Curry is how the NBA wants their product to look like (nothing to do with skin color, but with aesthetics)
His style of play is ugly as hell. But it’s effective; that’s what counts. It may be why he is so tough to deal with. He has an unorthodox way of navigating the game, and people can’t adjust.
@@BessieRiggs I don't even agree that it's ugly, I've missed the art of the post game personally. But then there have been people who say Giannis' game isn't pretty so I'm not sure what people think is athletically pleasing these days lol
The same things that they're saying about Jokic today is what they said about Larry Bird in the 1980's. Bird couldn't run, didn't have flashy moves, had that 1950's set shot, etc. But what Bird did have was a court vision that few possessed and had the basketball IQ of a savant. Jokic reminds me of a taller Larry Bird in many ways
@@furnitureconsortium Yeah, that's a good comparison. They both have that same vision and sense of the game. Both Bird and Jokic play in an understated sort of way, not flashy. People look at Jokic and just sort of assume he's not as in shape as other players (though he is more trim that his first couple seasons). During these playoffs, he is running as good as anyone out there: he'll push the pace on transition after playing hard defence (his defence is also a lot better than he's given credit for). Opponents are surprised how good his stamina is and how good he runs for a big man. Bird was similar in this way, not known for lightning quickness but his motor and stamina were rock solid.
Perk has a chip on his shoulder and through his life experience it's probably pretty hard to get over. Funny to be black and transparent as heck at the same time. Everybody is going to have an opinion and a bias, it's whether they can over come that with objectivity, that's what makes a person respectable.
if it was just about scoring Jokic could easily score 30-35pts a game if he wasn't effectively playing point guard every play. For that matter Magic Johnson could easily have scored more per game too if it was only about scoring. LeBron could have scored more every season too if scoring is all that matters. Really dumb to criticize big tall players like that because they are elite passers.
He knows he's f up when he gets loud(louder) and act like the principal just called his parents on TV. I never liked the Nuggests, but I'm rooting the hell out of them in the playoffs.
Azz pull statement. - Oscar avg 31 point triple double, same season Wilt avg 50+ points 20+ rebounds. ☝🏽 Bill Russell was MVP that year. Winning matters. (MVP trophy forever tarnished 3x by those #6 seeds Russ/Jocic. And Kareem smh missed playoffs)
That's why it's hard for me to watch the NBA anymore as I get older working paycheck to paycheck watching these guys making multi-million dollars a year just talking about a game that they're wrong on 75% of the time.
We remember that U of North Carolina researchers in 2000 published a research study (discussed in The Guardian in the UK) that showed that Black teens have higher self-esteem than White teens. And that this unearned and overblown self-regard is based on skin color alone and it comes from their fellow Black peers and their family. In other words, from "The Black Community". Contrast this to the experience of Whites and Asians in the US, who are told that our skin color means absolutely nothing and that we had better study hard, haul ass, and stay out of trouble if we want to escape our lowborn origins and succeed in life for the long term. My high school friends in notoriously depressing Upstate New York in the 1980s needed this motivation and we ended up in places like Cornell and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Every child deserves an incentive to excel and advance, and telling them the truth of what exactly they need to do to escape a lowborn origin is what they need. They do NOT need an assurance that they are perfect and special the way they are! Necessity is and always will be the mother of effort.
Can you imagine if the tides were turned? Imagine if JJ asked why most MVPs are black? Or asked how come since 1956 only 8 MVPs have been white with 3 of those being Larry Bird? ESPN would of fired him but yet if the least educated man on the planet KPerkins makes a comment like that its ok. Double standards @espn
Joker is the top defensive player in the NBA. Along with a great scorer and passer. He deserves MVP. Perk is injecting race into this. He should be fired.
Nash deserved those MVP’s. The man was running a new super fast offense and busting teams up. It just didn’t work in the playoffs when teams really forced a slower pace.
“But but Kobe scored 32 and didn’t win it!” Okay? 32PPG helped them win 42 out of 82 games. Love Kobe but that clearly wasn’t all that valuable to the success of the team. And even if it was, it means he took a non-playoff team to the playoffs. By that logic Lebron should win MVP almost every single season.
I get what your saying, but without Kobe that team might have won 20 games. Kobe was 100% the more valuable to the Lakers than Nash was to the Suns. Suns still had Shawn Marion, Stoudemire and a decent supporting cast. Lakers had Smush Parker and Kwame Brown
@@derrickolejownik7600 Amare only played 3 games in 2006 but they still won 54 games and took the 2nd spot in the West. Nash's "decent supporting cast" that year was Kurt Thomas, Leandro Barbosa, Raja Bell and Boris Diaw. Barf. Kobe had Lamar Odom, Andrew Bynum, Kwame and Smush Parker (pre-injury). Also barf. So both rosters were pretty meh tbh...but you can see the argument for Nash that he made more of an impact on his role players and the team's success. Whereas Kobe just got his...and everyone else got out of the way.
How exactly does a dude that barely speaks English end up on TV with JJ commenting on basketball. The network must have an agenda to politicize even basketball.
Lmao at 9:58 Perk you almost never call out facts. This is the same dude that said Golden State (Post KD) was never going to win again and Steph will do nothing in Game 6 of last year's finals but we know how that turned out.
This is like me as a Chinese arguing Chinese players don't get MVP due to racism as opposed to just plain not having elite players lol. One day we'll have our basketball Jesus.
Speaking LOUDER means you are correct and the other person is wrong. Also, hollering means you’re facts are true . And constantly repeating the same word at a high volume ALSO means you’re correct and the other person is wrong. Remember this kids and adults
The Lakers had a pretty good roster outside of Kobe in 2006 and they were at no point a serious contender for a championship, so Kobe really didn't elevate his team the way Nash had in that period. The Suns were an absolute pleasure to watch and Nash was constantly breaking down defenses with penetration and magical unexpected finds. That Suns team style probably changed the game as much as any team in recent history outside of possibly Golden States recent run prior to KD. His two MVPs were well deserved IMO.
How did that Perkins get a job as an "Analyst"? Doesn't that job title imply that you have to analyse? His stats are not even following his points. Even if you forget the stats, Jokic is a pure basketball all-around player, making his teammates much better and winning games.
Jocik is basically a superior dirk. His playoff failures are more forgiving because he's had to carry more compared to dirk and overall his skill is much higher. Honestly tho this is good because the better European players get I feel the NBA will get better too
Perkins alleges Jokic is stat padding, but he was all for Westbrook getting the MVP when he did and never brought that up. Wonder why? I'll make Perkins even madder and suggest Bird should have gotten his 4th MVP in 1988 over MJ. Jordan had him on scoring by 4 or 5 points...but Bird still averaged almost 30, had better rebound and assist numbers than Jordan, had another 50-40-90 year and basically willed that team to 57 wins with McHale missing time because of his broken foot, Parrish at 35 years old and a bench of absolute nobodies with the exception of rookie Reggie Lewis, who barely played. They were so desperate for a back-up center they had the 39 year old ghost of Artis Gilmore out there...who looked like he was running in concrete shows up and down the floor. Turned out that Bird was playing that year with heel spurs in both feet as well...leading him to only play 6 games the next year because of surgery.
Jordan's season was still better. He averaged 5 more points and Bird only averaged 0.2 more assists. And Jordan was absolutely stiffling on defense averaging 3.2 steals and 1.6 blocks winning DPOTY and leading an even shittier roster to 50 wins. Jordan's 1988 is the most statistically/analytically dominant season in history.
@@Youngster543210 The "shittier" roster wasn't all that different than the one that started winning championships a few years later. They just waited out the Lakers, Celtics and Piston teams getting old and broken down to start doing it. As for the assists, Jordan was a guard and Bird was a forward....and Jordan had the ball in his hands more...and still averaged less assists.
@KClouisville Yes, it was. There was literally no carryovers from the 1985-1987 Bulls to the 1991-1993 Bulls except Jordan and John Paxson 😂. 2nd threepeat Jordan DID NOT have the ball in his hands more than Bird. He played that threepeat almost exclusively off the ball. 1st threepeat Jordan did play with the ball in his hands more than Bird, and in fact assisted his teammates much more frequently than Bird. 83-87 Bird averaged 7.6 assists per 100 possessions in the postseason. 91-93 Jordan averaged 8.8 per 100. Matter fact, when adjusting for pace the two of them aren't even remotely close. Bird averaged 29 points and 7.6 assists in the postseason from 82-87 on a relatively anemic 56.6 percent TS. Jordan meanwhile averaged an absurd 44 points and 8.8 assists on 58.1 percent TS from 1989-93 lol. Yeah, turns out 5 prime HOFer teams are better than 1 HOFer teams lol.
@@Youngster543210 We're talking about 1987-88 season. No carryovers but Jordan and Paxson? Scottie Pippen and Horace Grant were on that team and the first championship team! Literally Robin to Jordan's Batman and Grant, one of their most important supporting players during that era.
Perkins never even responded to JJ as to why he weirdly cut his research off at 1990! I mean we all know the reason but I would’ve loved to hear wut lie he tried to make up! He started sayin ppl move the goal post and this & that never even addressing the fact that he was heavily implying there’s favoritism for white players!
He kept saying how the goalposts keep moving but that's inaccurate. The goalposts don't move, the seasons just change. What might win MVP one year might not win in another year. He also claimed that there's more favortism to white players since 80% of the voters are black. If there is more favortism to white players, then why don't more of them win or even finish top 3 or 5 or 10 more consistently?
@@KaineTremaine did u even listen to wut was said bro? No one said they’re on Magic’s level! Perkins was tryin to paint a narrative that only 3 players since 1990 have received the MVP while being outside the top 10 in scoring and he said they’re all white players! Dirk, Nash, and Jokic! But he cut it off at 1990 knowing that Magic had won the MVP in ‘89 and ‘90 while being outside the top 10 in scoring those years! He tried to make it seem like MVP voters are favoring white players but didn’t mention Magic winning twice in a year just two years prior cuz it didn’t fit the bullshit picture he was tryin to paint
Tbh Giannis #1 imo just because when you say”most valuable to their team” Gianni’s comes big in defense and offense for his team which is the best in the league but that’s just my opinion. Big props to jokic tho
@@theetruth8626 what is the truth? JJ ADMITTING they "creat narratives that do not exist in reality" is exactly what we been saying about the Jordan vs LeBron debate for YEARS they been "creating narratives" for LeBron to make is seem like its actually close but when ALL the evidence is presented and you judge both equally its not even close 🤷🏾♂️
I'm a "young" follower or the NBA (since 2009) However, I don't really agree with your statement Just keep in mind the international media were spreading "hate" on lebron when he was playing for the heat. I have a clear memory of a sport article stating that the mavericks were a good champion instead of the heat when the NBA was facing lockdowns. And almost all of the articles upon Heat and Lebron were negative. In the other hand, since 2016, the media are loving him and promoting him as the GOAT that's true. Could you just quote an exemple of narrative that have been creating ?
As amazing of a season that Joel had, now that we are in the finals, we are seeing how historic this season could’ve been for Jok with a 3rd straight mvp and finals mvp
