Why do they keep talking about trading Jared Vanderbilt when he is the best mfkn defender on the team? The Lakers were rolling before he got hurt again.
None factor if he hurt all yr again remember he got paid so he not gonna play hard nomore it's a hustle for these guys nowadays 💯 that is why the NBA is not what it use to be
EXACTLY! im so confused. Hes actually the glue that makes both laker weaknesses strong. Perimeter defense and rebounding. Hes one of the best at it. In fact hes what JJ wants Rui to be. I honestly dont get it. AND HES CHEAP! He should never he moved. Idc about his offense. U need a guy like that to won chips period
I’m so glad JJ’s talking about keeping Vando. Despite his offensive deficiencies, he’s an elite wing defender with a motor and we’ll need that for any kind of championship run.
@@josephmcintyre752JV is two way when he clogs those lanes and gets us running the other way with numbers! 😂 We need Vanderbilt. He makes a huge difference. We need a big!
@@KeeganStephen0914 how is he a TWO WAY PLAYER, when he cant shoot, & fumbles ball, around basket? Who TF, have you been watching. Mikal Bridges, Jaylon Brown, PG 13, Kahawai, OG Annanobuy, KCP. These are, TWO WAY players. No one says JV, & thinks offense. Stop playing
@@josephmcintyre752And no one says vando is a bum lol. He is a decisive championship piece.. u can have vando and still need 2 way players and vando can still be a dawg
@@hunter-zp2hf i beg to differ. A player who isn't on court, isn't worth 💩, no matter the talent. I don't get what people see in him. Basketball is OFFENSE & DEFENSE. Did Boston just win, with a player, who cant shoot? He doesn't even score much as Draymond. Then he doesn't rebound & assist, like Draymond. How about getting in gym, & developing shot. Even with his defense, He's a liability, on court. His man doubles, because he cant shoot. How does that, help Lakers?
Weren’t you watching. Vando started scoring around 12 points along with his elite defense. The Lakers were rolling before he got hurt. Vando needs to stay healthy. He already proved on the move he can score.
Vando is a liability in the playoffs. Simple as that. Scheming for him might work in the season and in the first round. But it won’t work deep in the playoffs. This team isn’t a contender though so that shouldn’t matter.
He's a liability preseason to season to playoffs to offseason, he's not an elite defender, occasionally he has had a moment or tow...the only one of significance was guarding Curry in 2023 playoffs, other than that ball pokes are often from recovering when beat...he's not a good rebounder as he is too scrawny and he has zero outlet pass....back to "liability"....his salary on new contract of $48M/4 years makes him very overpaid, and I don't see him as a trade asset for all of the above. Around 12 points....I'll go look later, probably averaged 8-11 during his best run of offense. I'd trade Vanderbilt and 2 second round picks for a superior player Sochan of the Spurs.....and b0th are far from being the next Dennis Rodman....
How tf are our players ALWAYS hurt... Our season been over for a month+ and we still have injuries..... Players out for ENTIRE YEARS.. K Nunn, Gabe, Jarred, JHS. Our medical staff has serious questions that need be asked
@@chrisrobinson8339 I think it's crazy we blame the Miami heat when it's 100% our fault K Nunn and Gabe have NO VALUE. They came to us as highly sought after players and we completely eliminated their value entirely... Shocking work
@@RK-ck6pl clearly you don't get it. It's the recovery time. Kendrick Nunn missed the entire year with a bone bruise, Which is a 1 month injury TOPS. 🤣🤣 Gabe had "knee swelling" that's mismanagement in training. Nobody pulled a hamstring or tore a tendon. They had overuse/poor recovery injuries..... Muppet
@@jaredchalker7914 lol 😆 Bless your heart. All injuries are the same? all people heal the same? and it's the trainer not the patient who does the healing? You think our training staff handled a bone bruise radically differently than anyone else would have? 🤔 🤣 There's a reason people get credit for being an iron man. It's because it's really impressive. Not everyone can do it.
I love JJ's attitude. He understands where some of these players need to be at specific points in the game that Ham did not. Yall might not like that the roster was the same but players were not used in their best ways last year. I think there is at least room for 15% increase in production.
Street clothes & the aging Queen got lucky neither were injured for any length of time this past season. They're about to play in the Olympics before going into training camp. Good luck with lightning to striking twice. Roster is still trash & no new signings of any worth. Play in team again at best. 😂
Bismack Biyombo was available half the year last before someone picked him up , I'm sure he second string somewhere right now , stick him in the middle and let's roll , he tough , strong and can rebound
To get AD more involved is getting the guards to pass him the ball. Looks like our guards lacked getting him the ball in the low post. Those pick and rolls don't always get AD points because the opponent always crowd the paint. I haven't seen any player make AD a hub since Rondo.
You're dead on with this, and in fact it's emblematic of a larger issue in the NBA that guards are TERRIBLE at throwing entry passes to the post, which used to be a basic skill.
Guards and Lebron James allowed Anthony Davis to get only 1 shot attempt for the entire 4th Quarter of Game 2 of the Playoffs. Now this change to A.D at Top of Key to catch the 1st pass is great because it automatically leads to an EXTRA PASS.
I like the new CBA personally. Forces teams to draft better. There's less player movement so fans can actually fall in love with their heroes instead of watching them walk away every 2 years. Building fan-team loyalty. Also, no more boring cakewalk superteams like the Ws had when kd joined.
A coach's job is not only to take the players to practice movements , shots and strategy, and coach them through a game.. He has to know each player's strengths, weaknesses, pros and cons and fit them together like a jig saw puzzle so they can perform at their highest. He also must know to improvise strategies during a game to pull the team out of a slump, or take advantage of situations. If JJ can do that, which Ham was not doing, then he will be successful.
I'm not a lakers fan but I like the NBA in general and listen to a lot of podcasts. You guys consistently create content and do a great job in covering the Lakers! Keep up the good work.
Vando is a solid defensive player but totally useless on offence. He's strictly one way player that the team needs to use sparingly. If you have a starting 5 of AD, LeBron, AR, DLO and Vando, you would have 4 one way players starting a game, not a good thing.
@@fattony9227so he cant set picks?? Slip to the basket?? Do dribble hand offs?? Crash the offensive glass??? So he can't do nun of that??? It's spelled offense by the way.. no offense though 😂😂
I know he hasn't talked about him much since becoming coach, but as a longtime listener of his podcast JJ has been a huge fan of Vando for years. Put him on his list of best "star in their role" players multiple times.
Oh Trev I definitely agree with you on the reasons the rebounding was bad I'm just saying all of us should have been screaming at the top of our lungs about it long ago
They just gotta make the right move, don’t overpay for underwhelming assets. And I think Gary Trent Jr at the TMLE and Dinwiddie at the minimum after a DLo trade for a 3 and D wing is the likely move
I hate how the media acts like Palinka made some great deal to get rid of Russ. NO! The Timberwolves were just as desperate to dump D'Angela and they also wanted to trade Vando. They couldn't find a trade for them, the Lakers were their only option. So the two teams felt like they were helping each other. But the media spun it to made Sob Palinka look good. And Beasley was supposed to be a bonus, didn't workout.
I'm not asking for Vando to develop a corner 3 He is an excellent rebounder and the best pair on the team for cutting to the basket without the ball I want him to work on his hands so he can catch passes and I want him to work on his putbacks so he can score when he gets the ball or when he gets the offensive glass THAT is rare he can help the most offensively
Reaves is tired from golfing so damn much! When you interviewed him look at how small his arms were. That's because if he had that bulk from working out would effect his golf game. He has his golf build rn. He needs to committ to basketball.
The Lakers needs everyone to be healthy and stay healthy when the season starts. The Lakers have capable players that can play and needs to step up and play their game when they are all healthy. I hope JJ.REDICK has a better offense plan. The Lakers have to get their role players in the offense and take their shots get them involved in some pick"n roll situation. The Lakers dribble to much and waste to much time on the shot on their one play. Their high pick'n roll. The Lakers players needs get themselves in shape and be healthy and ready to play
Vando has to set lots of picks on offense so teams have to account for him on that side of the ball.He just has to make good passes or go to the hoop strong on the roll.
The problem is that all the players that we as fans know whom are available that would make an immediate title impact, we aren't making moves to acquire them.
You're optimistic. I like you 😂. LakeShowLife on the other hand is a sadist, so pessimistic and so always right, I'm afraid. If I needed a reminder that the Lakers are doomed, I go there 😂😂. If i needed hope that the Lakers might survive this predicament they are in, I come here but then we just lying to ourselves 😭 😭 ❤❤
Yeah the off ball movement is huge I hated the fact that when we were on defense we were chasing five guys around but when the other team was on defense they could just basically focus on whoever had the bulb and the other guys stood around
Can we admit that the league, its GMs, and most free agents want nothing to do with the Lakers until maybe the trade deadline….consequences of R Paul’s marketing scheme.
QSpades That's a good question. I myself have wondered if they understand we need another big and that's why I've been begging this channel and all the fans to make noise about it for years
Vando is super injury prone which is why the Lakers front office needs to get rid of Wood, Cam, JHS, etc. And replace them with Saddiq Bey, Garry Trent Jr, Precious Achiuwa, and Wendell Carter. Lakers need upgrades at SF, PF, & center.
5-Out Offense with A.D as the "Hub of the Offense, " catching the 1st pass in a non-catch & shoot situation is awesome multiple pass offense. Vanderbilt's role on offense escapes me.
DLo is a regular season player u can’t win with him in the postseason and that’s were it matters the most we know he’s not athletic but that has nothing 2 do with him missing shots u have 2 upgrade that position either DLO or Reeves has 2 go u 28:42 can’t win with that backcourt neither one of them is athletic and they are not efficient enough that’s the weakness of the team besides the center position they need a physical presence down Low AD is a finesse player 🤷♂️
Nobody listened to me when I said Jared Vanderbilt was limping at the start of the season. When he came back for those few games. HE WAS LIMPING AFTER EVERYGAME. He needed surgery MONTHS AGO. I think he got surgery in march o April and has been recovering since.
Austin knew we needed defense in the guard positions and tried to pick it up. He just didn’t have the conditioning to play both ways and so his shooting suffered.
Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't we talking last summer about how there was not very many true centers available that we could afford? Regardless whether they were easy to attain or not, we needed one going in the last season just as badly as we do going into this season so this is nothing new
@@tonypapas9854Vando’s been traded 3 times in his first few years in the league and all those teams knew how good his defense was.. it just doesn’t translate well in the playoffs.
@@wills.9422uhh… golden state last year?. the problem isn’t the fact his defense doesn’t translate because it surely does. it’s his offensive capabilities. also outside of the lakers. the last time he was on a true playoff team. was the 2021-22 t-wolves. and he was arguably a top 5 player on that team. outside of ant, dlo, kat, patbev
It's odd that game time chooses to focus on the fact that it's user friendly I use it to go to the Lakers game last year and it was anything but One thing I needed was here. Another thing I needed was there You can't just download or screenshot your tickets cuz they won't be accepted. So you have to download the app and then where the tickets are in the app isn't even easy to find because there's no place. This actually says "your tickets" It's just buried in some other menu selection Not at all user friendly
You'll notice in the comments at the time that I stopped celebrating the Boston when the moment Vando went down I know that injury and I knew he wasn't coming back
As a fan of the games yeah I'd like that. As a Lakers fan, I wouldn't want them to ask that question. The team needs to move on and look forward. Can't be dwelling on the past.
He didnt backtrack, AD was his 4th in DPOY in one of his videos explaining his DPOY choices. So him saying top 5 checks out. Also I dont think he voted All Defense as if its position-less.
If Vando can improve a solid three point percent in a corner, like 37-38% is legit. If he can reach 34-35% overrall would be fine. In fact, first season at Lakers did a 32% and previous season he did 14,3. So the improvement is getting there. Last season before the injury he was getting started shooting well. Aaron Gordon took time to be legit at three point with his ups and downs. Vando can do it as well, i think.
Vando is the second best cutter to James. The Lakers could keep Vando for the next years with Davis, and they'll be in the top 10 defensive team for 5 years, Howard is the best center Davis played with!!
Man nah! Vando spent the entire season rehabbing and now he need to rehab again! Nah the lakers medical staff is fucking horrible! Clearly his injury was worse than what was said! He gotta go and if Rui don’t get better defensively he need to go too! We can afford inconsistent players again
The only laker fans that are complaining about the GM and the trades are the same ones who keep asking Trevor these ridiculous trade offers, I’ve never been apart of a more delusional fan base all due respect
We should've traded up to get Edey, knowing that he's the exact type of player that we needed. San Antonio just gave away there 8th pick to Minnesota 🤦
@@Flush0000 Minnesota traded a 2031 draft and a pick swap in 2030 to San Antonio for their 8th pick in the draft, you mean to tell me we couldn't have matched that?
Rob Pelinka is not making these decisions alone. He has a Salary Cap Strategy team led by Marshall Rader, who previously worked with the Spurs. Some of the other teams are just rearranging deckchairs on the Titanic. The Lakers should wait for the right pieces. The Mavs won only three more games than the Lakers last season, and that's with Darvin not playing his best players for a long stretch. Patience is a virtue.
Why even have a soft cap if there's going to be an MLE? Just make the cap the soft cap plus the MLE I'm sure there's something I'm missing but seems unnecessarily complicated to me
Yes, ReDick should man up and apologize. Nobody is buying this sudden about face of his anyway. He will probably get fired in a couple of seasons. Next!
