It was great seeing a concealment holster review from someone who is knowledgeable; and understands the importance of great video quality and close-ups of the product. Well done, sir!
Thank you sir! Trying to review them the way I would like to see products reviewed myself. There's far more to a good holster design than just cool colors or fit and finish.
This is one of my favorite holsters. You don't need any claw with this holster . The design is marvelous. I think the claw is a problem especially if you want to use reverse cant. But Tony at jm custom kydex is so helpful.
Yup. His design is awesome. I'm concealing here without a claw and can even use a g17 in this same holster, which also disappears on me. The grip wedge is awesome. I find claw holsters actually print MORE on me due to my body shape.
@@michaeledwards7668 Full guard. It actually makes holstering easier / safer and doesnt really add any footprint, since it just extends the length of the gun anyway.
Nice! I'd recommend trying one with extra length if you get a space. If you ask him, he'll do it. The longer ones tend to tuck the holster in really well and are actually MORE comfortable than compact-length ones. I was skeptical of this at first, but it's true. I'm even about to bump up to Glock 34-length myself.
@@b0men that is interesting. It does make since cuz of leverage. Mine will fit a full size M&P but that is still only a 4.25" barrel. G17 is 4.5" and G34 is over 5"?
I just received my JM light bearing holster for my beretta 92x fs. I carry at 4 o'clock position. It's by far the most comfortable holster I've owned and yes their customer service is outstanding! Well worth the money and 8 week wait for a custom holster!
I have the same thought process as it pertains to holster color. A brightly-colored holster intrinsically makes reholstering easier and safer. Nobody will see the color of the holster you’re concealing, anyhow.
Thanks for the video. I was all set to order another claw holster for my G43 ( I have several for other guns), before running across this video. I think I'd like the "lesser is more" aspect of this design. Especially at the muzzle end, as that's the area that causes me the most discomfort. But, I'm concerned with the added thickness and bulk of the wedge design at the belt line. The Wing Claw 2.0 and 2.5 sure do make for a slim design!. How much thickness does the wedge have compared to the wing claw design? One other advantage I can see over the claw is, I'm constantly jamming the knuckle of my middle finger on the draw stroke on the claws of my holsters. I like to use a forceful grab to seat the web of my thumb into the beavertail area for a positive full grip, and I often find myself having clearance issues between the knuckle and claw. I can work around it, but it's far form optimal. And it looks like this holster does give better clearance for a fast full grip.
Thank you sir! I'm going to do a comparrison vid between this one and Dark Star Gear's appendix holster next. Two great options but very different, IMO.
I’m leaning towards “the George,” which is JMCK’s AIWB holster for those w/ a waist under 34”. I’m leaning this way for all the reasons you mentioned. PTD’s, no claw, smaller footprint, etc Problem is, Tony strongly recommended I go with the Wing Claw 2.0, but I fear the DCCs (although very concealable), will be too rigid and the claw will be too uncomfortable For the record, I’ll be carrying a Shield Plus and I’m 5’7” 140 lbs I’d love to hear your thoughts
My favorite jM is now the Wing Claw 2.5. I use it with this config: WIDE pull-the-dot loops red dot sight cut regular mod wing claw (not a dark wing) I tried the George and didn't like it. I also tried the 2.0 and you are correct about the DCCs. They conceal amazing but they're just really uncomfortable because the holster has zero "play" to move with your body. With the mod wing claw you can also just remove the lip of it, which will make the torque less aggressive. I'm 5'7, 155, for ref. Similar to you.
@@b0men How much better does the 2.0 w/ DCCs conceal than the 2.5 w/ PTDs? Tony was adamant I don’t get the 2.5 w/ my build (5’7” 140lbs 30” waist). Which is odd, as you mentioned that your build is similar and yet it works for you If the 2.0 is as uncomfortable as you suggest, I won’t carry the piece. The PTDs, therefore, seem necessary. And as you know, they can’t coexist w/ an optics cut on the 2.0 Would love to see how the 2.5 conceals for you, especially in a smaller t-shirt to illustrate the worst case printing scenario
@@anthonyblood2439 Sorry just seeing this. Im going to make an updated vid of my current setup, just not sure you'll have it in time! One callout, is that I am barrel-chested, from doing powerlifting for a while. This means t-shirts tend to "drape" over my waist which can hide a gun better. Depending on YOUR build, that may not be the case which could be why Tony is recommending the 2.0 with the DCC clips! He does have a pretty easy swap-policy, which I've used before. If you don't like it, they'll swap it for a diff model. I should clarify that I don't think the 2.0 is uncomfortable. I just think the 2.5 is MORE comfortable, at the cost of some concealability.
@@b0men I picked up the LCP MAX first as I’ll have no excuse to never be armed, provided it’s legal for me to carry in that state/city/building. So, I’m sure I’ll see it in time! Good to know that the 2.0 isn’t explicitly uncomfortable. I do feel I’ve a bias for the PTDs already and I haven’t even used them 😅 I just understand how much more comfortable it will be for the pistol to move with the body I’ve a relatively flat chest, but that’s nothing that can’t be addressed
@@anthonyblood2439 Totally. I GET why Tony is telling you what he is. That said, I do feel PTDs are a little more comfortable and I'm personally able to swap a little concealability for comfort. However - if I was going pure concealment, then yep the 2.0 with DCC clips is the move. It def hugs the gun closer to you. For example, if someone was looking for my gun they might see some printing when I move. But its subtle and it hasn't ever happened, and I carry every day.
I really appreciate your insights on holster selection, I wish I could find a pistol with a long slide and short grip, like a G17 slide on a G26 frame. I'm really thinking at some point I might chop the grip on my G17 to take G26 mags
JM holsters are top notch. I have 2 of them together with several Blade-Tech models which I also like. JM holsters are very rigid. And unlike many other makers, they offer a steel clip which is very strong and durable (if you don't prefer the soft loops)
@@coffeelover6150 It solid! However, I go back and forth between that and g17 length. I think g34 lengh is good for taller people, and g17 is good for everyone else. I'm 5'7 for reference, so the 17 works a little better.
Probably the Discreet Carry Concept clips, although they are kind of expensive. They do work for some although I've never managed to tuck in with AIWB successfully.
@@b0men I am currently trying this out in the g17 length with the flat pad. I wish there was an easy way to tell if I would benefit from sizing up to the g34, likely without any pad. Where does the end of the 34 rest for you?
I think there so much better holsters for apindix carry. For one it doesn't have a claw on it if u apindix carry u need a claw. The claw works like dream
I'm not using a claw in this video and it disappears on me. You can see the quick demo at the start of the video. This one uses a grip wedge instead which tucks the grip into the body but doesn't have the bulk of a claw. Holsters dont always need a claw.
