She was a movie star of the highest caliber. She was always so grateful to her fans and for everything she had been given in life. You do not see a lot of that anymore.
At the beginning of the interview, she handed the floor over to the interviewer by looking directly at the woman during the introduction rather than at the camera, which would have drawn attention to herself and away from the woman talking. Total class act. She showed consideration and had brains, style and beauty to boot. What a star.
@@cosettecopperfield8397 yes! I've heard stage actors refer to this as "shining your light" on the person speaking. By looking at the person speaking, the audience pays attention to that person. Total class act Joan was!
Professional to the end. Love the Pepsi bottles on the table. It's too bad some have tried to tarnish her image after her death, when she can't defend herself.
Despite what others say, this woman was and is the epitome of a Hollywood movie star. Such grace and class. There will never be another like her. Bette Davis? Her hatred of Joan just personifies what a class act Joan Crawford was.
love this -- it seemed as if crawford was trying to put the obviously a bit nervous interviewer at ease in the beginning, then she had a little smirk as the director called 'rolling', as if, here we go, dear, then she slipped into the crawford image ... confident, classy. i noticed too her constant eye contact while the interviewer was asking questions, then she does what i've come to notice as a crawford signature move, of glancing down for a beat, then snapping eyes back to the other person. loved those pepsicola bottles, haha.
Oh, those few moments at the beginning (0:20-0:33) that were not cut are precious!!! To watch Joan noticing the dismissive "ok" from the interviewer and then giving her a long and amused observing stair from the side...riveting and funny to watch the reaction :)))
Omg i love this woman more and more as the years pass - "I hear you were named after Norma Shearer" - thats all she needed to say - you knew exactly what she was thinking at that point - she could get that though to you without words or actions - she was a class act for sure
Clark Gable was a great actor and good looking man in his younger days. They must have worked very well together to make all those films.Thank you for a very nice interview.
This is miracle footage in color of one of the great movie stars of all time. Stare at her and find her loveliness. Joan is a star because she lets you find out in person she's gracious and beguiling. On the screen she's larger than life. She's unafraid to be the star, and her Charisma appeals to men and women.
I loved that! She looked incredible. I loved the comment about Van Johnson. And her expression when asked about Clark Cable's height was amazing! She was still so beautiful... Thank you so much for posting this!
After viewing this, I decide to never look back for Mommie Dearest😆 Real Joan is charming, elegant and confident, and her voice is attractive. Especially love her reaction when being mentioned about Betty.
Would love to know what our Joan was thinking when Norma Shearer was mentioned lol when Joan asked if the interviewer was named after Norma Shearer and the interviewer said yes, I was waiting for Joan to say “that’s a pity.” Lol
JC just oozed Hollywood royalty. I loved BD as well, but Crawford really was a classier dame. I hate comparing them, and there I go comparing them. I guess it's inevitable.
Joan's spirited defence of Clark Gable's (highly debatable) stature was fantastic. Their affair, off & on, spanned three decades & he was the love of her life. But on another note - i'm digging the groovy pink paisley!
Norma Shearer was also Mrs. Irving Thalberg. Joan Crawford had quite a powerful scene with Norma Shearer in "The Women". Margaret Sullivan is considered one of the great Actresses who we lost way too soon.
Highlights of the interview When Joan ask if Norma is for Norma Shearer (you know for the feud with her) And her expression in the Oscar question, her eyes glow 😍
She was such a talent great actress. I wasn’t even born in that era I watch all of her movies I enjoy watching her movies reading about her. Such a huge fan
Held herself with such grace, and yet also showed glimpses of her personality and wit in this interview. Loved how she was able to let herself a little loose. Thanks for this gem. :)
Wow... can't believe I missed this one until now!! It's a wonderful glimpse into the magnitude and grandeur of Joan Crawford. We also see a very frank, real human being, which of course, she was. We can see how naturally beautiful she was, toooooooo!!!!! How beautifully, indeed, she aged, with that glow to her skin that shows up best in living color.. Thanks for this GEM!!
Wow, this is fabulous. Beloved Joan doesn't seem too happy through this interview though - probably the same old questions. She had probably had to say the same thing over and over all day. Gracious and beautiful always.
I had no idea she thought so highly of Audrey Hepburn! She handled "...Baby Jane?" question very well. That's the first time I heard coming from her that she made the movie possible. I thought it was a myth.
I just adore this!! I’ve said to a great deal of people that witnessing Joan’s character on the screen and off during interviews, her class, her lady likeness, it’s really taught me how to be a gentleman. I so very greatly revere her work, her attitude, her class, and her charm. The legacy she leaves us all is such a gift, and so very many thanks to you for bringing these treasures to us!
Still an incredibly beautiful lady. Such poise and class. She was a wonderful actress. If only there had been tv shows Ike Dynasty in the 1960’s . If there had then Joan Crawford would have been the biggest tv star in the world. After all she was one of the biggest movie stars ever!!!
So elegant. And I love the fact that working with Bette Davis on Baby Jane was her idea. She knew people would definitely go to see the movie because of her history of dislike with Bette. And she was right. People went crazy for that movie. Such a beautiful woman. They don't have many movie stars like this anymore if any.
The shade love the way Joan was looking her up and down right before the interview .then called her out on being named after one of her most hated enemies Norma.
I’m such a fan of hers I love her so much! Such a beautiful woman and good hearted! I wish she was still alive so I could write her or tell her how much of a fan I am lol not creepy status just a normal fan who loves her pictures :)
Lovely! I so wish I could've met her. I was merely 6 years of age when this was taped, but I have seen so many picture of Joan demonstrating truly heartfelt affection toward children or young fans that it certainly would've been the highlight of my young life to have crossed paths with her at that time. What is also really fascinating to me is that she seems so utterly humble and down to earth. Priceless stuff. Thanks for posting these rare gems. The woman was and is a Hollywood icon for all time.
Really wonderful to see Joan in this video of such good quality. Anyone find it weird that the interviewer had no idea of how tall Clark Gable was? Thanx for sharing this video!
