There's another funny story Joan told in an interview, about going to film in London, where she was asked by an english co-star how many pictures she had done, about 70, so he said "that's ridiculous, I've made 140."
Joan was self-educated. She spoke about her lackluster education when she was a kid (she was a “working student” where the school had her do more work than take classes), and she made up for it by learning on her own.
Not true. She went to boarding school and started college, but dropped out. I don't know where those rumors of a 4th or 6th grade education come from. It's simply not true.
@@jm7804 It is true. She was a working student and attended no classes. She got her credentials but when she got to college she still had a 6th grade education. Read any book on her, or her own books.
@@jm7804 the rumors come from her. I also could never verify that she was poor growing up or unable to attend school. Her image was very well crafted.
She had real diplomatic sense of humour in public, not too racy but a bit cheeky but classy. Many Royals today use the same style in interviews. She was a consummate professional and would been a real credit to her studios. That's why they stood by her for so long.
Would that today's actresses (and actors) would speak with such charm and articulation. Nowadays it's vocal fry, F-bombs, ums and uhs, and general vulgarity.
She was a true professional. Never kept her movie crew waiting, always knew her lines, and respected and appreciated her fans. So unlike so many so-called “celebrities” in Hollywood nowadays.
Please don't forget when this Alumni Star was doing an interview or in the public eye, it was performance because She had an image to maintain IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA!!! 👌🏾✌️👍🏼
Such class. She only attended school up to 6th grade but she was highly intelligent. Her inflection and dialogue she chose while speaking was unmatched!
❤️❤️❤️ wonderful, wonderful actress! I just absolutely love all of her movies! I do think it’s an awful awful shame that her adopted daughter was so jealous of her that and so full of hate that she said those mean awful things about Joan Crawford. I’ve seen this and heard this time and time again where family of a Hollywood star are so jealous. They’ll do anything to try to destroy the person they’re jealous of! You would think that her adopted daughter, the one that put out the book, would’ve appreciated being growing up in a nice home, not needing for anything , and would be grateful and thankful that when no one else wanted her as a child, Joan took her in. Kids can get so spoiled and want everything the way they envision it in their mind that they can actually hate and not realize how wonderful things really are in their life! And it sounds to me that her adopted daughter and I know she had many, but one in particular, just was so filled with rage, hate, and jealousy that she didn’t become anything herself that she tried to destroy out of hurt. Some people just feel that they should be entitled and they will try to cut off the hand that feeds them ! What a shame. See that adopted daughter as a spiteful, wicked person that didn’t appreciate the golden spoon in her hand! But they say what goes around comes around, so we’ll see how it is at the end of her time.😅
Segun dicen era una loca de atar , vivia humillando a su hija en esa epoca el litio no se usaba como medicamento , de haber sido asi hubiese sido una gran madre porque no era mala era bipolar según cuentan
Joan was a disciplined woman with a true self image. I don’t think she was that cruel to her daughter Inthink she wanted her daughter to be more like her
I love the movie mommie dearest but i dont believe the movie portrays an accurate picture of who Joan was. She seems so collected and in control of her self. I just don't believe the movie.
But if u do the math..when she went to school..first marriage..first picture..she was actually 50 here not 47...crawford was always cadgey about her age but by all accounts she was born in 1906 ..but she akways claumed 1909
