As gross back then as it is today. Societies morbid fascination with famous people’s personal lives. Like they are fodder for public consumption. Joan handled this like a true pro of course 💅

Christina Crawford gave an interview back then, and the questions were honest and so were her answers. Joan paid for college, Christina dropped out, so Joan cut her off. Christina moved to New York, Joan got her a job at the world's largest talent agency, Christina quit after a couple of weeks because she wanted to be on stage or in front of the cameras. Joan called in some favors and got Christina some parts in various shows, she landed the lead in a play and landed the director too -- one of Joan's old friends from Hollywood was excited to play the mother of one of her friend's children - for a while, anyway. Christina was always late, she didn't know her lines or blocking. She entered a scene from the wrong direction and delivered lines that weren't in the script. When asked about it, she said, that's the way she "acts" - it's more modern and fresh. Everyone in the cast hated her because she acted like a spoiled, unprofessional brat. The director finally ended things with her and fired her. Joan's friend never told Joan what an unprofessional slob her daughter was. In that interview, Christina said she wanted her Mother's fame, lifestyle, career, money, and adoring fans... but she wasn't willing to earn it as Joan had done.

Does anyone know why Joan might’ve disinherited Christopher if she even actually did?

What interview was that? I don’t recall seeing it. Xtina has contradicted herself so many times I don’t see how anyone believes a word from her. If she said something to that extent today, with such a large platform, maybe people would let all that “MD” BS go, and see it for what it really was. Tina finally getting her 15 minutes of fame and destroying her mother in to the bargain. And let’s not forget the 💰💰💰

Crawford was threatened with other dubious allegations regarding her early years in Hollywood, but Crawford handled the situation without any real backlash.

Joan Crawford was threatened by the disgraced Confidential Magazine (BBC Interview 1966) Confidential Magazine was a notorious tabloid publication founded by Robert Harrison in 1952. It thrived on scandalous content and sensationalism, often targeting celebrities and public figures such as Rock Hudson, Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, Maureen O’Hara and more. Confidential was widely criticized for its invasive, unethical reporting practices, and spreading rumors without substantial evidence. Due to mounting pressures from Hollywood, the magazine entered in to serval court battles. Some were settled out of court - like with Liberace. The final court battle was long, with the magazine issuing subpoenas to every celebrity featured in the magazine to as a scare tactic. The judge eventually ruled the magazine was no longer able to publish stories about celebrities or public figures. Harrison's death occurred in 1978 due to suicide, the same year the magazine ended. Yellow Journalism, aka gossip trash. I've never cared about a celebrity's dirty laundry because it doesn't affect me. I love it when THEY share insight into their personal lives, not when these "journalists" make up scandals. Joan was a formidable lady, oozing class.

Joan was really mean and Cristina was à selfish brat. But Joan WAS TALENTED or there'd be no story. Watch 'Mildred Pierce'.

Firstly, that’s not a picture of Mike Connolly, that’s a picture of the confidential magazine owner, Max (Robert) Harrison. Secondly, Mike Connolly didn’t harm himself, he passed from kidney malfunction.

Mike Connolly didn’t commit suicide. This is bizarre. However: Decades after this interview, fairly recently, it turns out he was a deeply closeted homosexual. Chew on that.
@goldduxt
@goldduxt 10 месяцев назад
Crawford did not say that. Mike died the year this interview was conducted. The head of the magazine k!lled himself. She was also an avid supporter of the gay community so not sure what you’re insinuating here?

FYI, Connolly did not die from suicide in a cab, he died of cancer in the 60s. The murder-suicide was Howard Rushmore, an editor at Confidential who eventually turned on the magazine and testified against them. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Howard_Rushmore
