The trial that declared her a witch was done by only some members of the church that supported the British claim over France. 5 years later, when the British were out of France and the documents of the trial were recovered, the case was reopened, examined by the Vatican and declared corrupt, invalid and those who sentenced her were put on trial. She was made a Saint only 500 years later and the process to make someone a Saint is not simple at all.
She was murdered by psychiatry! On 5/27/1876 the New York Times page 6 called for women in pants to be sent to "the best conducted hospitals for the insane."
She died for her faith hence a saint. On a personal level ,she is a hero of mine.....i read somewhere she killed 30 men but i don't she killed anyone at all becuase of her faith in her visions and her love for the mother church.
@@professorgraemeyorston incorrect.....she was burned by the English in Normandy and the church went extremely slow in the quest to declare her a Saint.
She was burned not for wearing men’s clothing, since Isabella of Castile was in war too at that time. But because of heresy and wanting to attack Britain, it’s a controversial topic
The court records still exist and she recanted her heresy but continued wearing men's clothes in prison (because she was forced to) and that is why she was executed.
@@taylorrowe2002 Don't worry catholic christian,I'm not trying to insult or anything but the catholic church has corrupted the teachings of the holy bible,so I'd say otherwise

The modern lens doesnt believe in miracles or that human life is worth saving much less living. The modern lens would have you submit to it as the God it does not believe in itself. It also would have agreed with burning her at the stake for daring to think for herself.

I'm very convinced that Joan was delusional and lucky, no doubt. Let's not forget that she was uneducated, couldn't read or count, and had no military experience.
@@professorgraemeyorstonvoice of god or mental illness or whatever she still stomped over the English and reclaimed her nations glory and land viva la France🥱
Schizophrenics don't have the clarity of thought that St Joan displayed. It would have been impossible for her to have led an army and responded as she did against her persecutors the way she did. Schizophrenia is not only marked by hallucination but also chaotic thoughts and an inability to focus and hold sensible conversation.
Schizophrenia like all other illnesses has degrees of severity and many people with schizophrenia have logical thought processes and are able to hold sensible conversations.
@@professorgraemeyorston well good professor.. I never seen anybody who was just a little bit crazy. I used to work as disability examiner , and even worked in a mental institution. I used to rate residual capacity for gainful employment. The key for schizophrenics was their not degree of illness(like I said, there no such thing as just a little crazy, moderately crazy or off the hook crazy) but their response to therapeutic intervention, mainly drug intervention. Some respond well and can exhibit coherent behavior, and some respond so so, and some don't respond well at all . St Joan didn't have the luxury of Resperdol to help keep it all together and reduce her degree of Krazee. So...needless to say I don't buy your argument
🤔 I absolutely loved this film for Joan of Arc. I literally remember praying for this woman as much as the actress (Milla Jovovich) who played her when I was a boy. I know I am not the only one. Joan of Arc was so multidimensionally sound for her time when it came to faith. Clarifying that she wasn't martyred for heresy is very important. She literally stepped up and went above and beyond. Saint: a person acknowledged as holy or virtuous and typically regarded as being in heaven after death. A very virtuous, kind or patient person. 🤔💭So what have we learned?! Multipass. Bit of an understatement. Considering... Joan of Arc... Milla.... Leelu 🌈 🤔💭Milla is the bridge 🌉 for Joan of Arc and Leeloo. So of course pray for the actress. Vessel for Catharsis. "Zero Stones Zero Crates...." "Anyone care to explain".
I'm not Catholic, Joan was an insperation to the French, Joan belived her visions and voices and that's all that matters, and still inspires millions world wide as she did then, a truly remarkable young women.
She saved France! The life of Joan of Arc is a testament to the virtues of faith, the assets of womanhood. With Deep Faith & Gratitude! ! !❤⚜️❤ Blessed Be! ! !❤🙏❤
It was a complicated trial, she initially admitted her heresy and was going to be spared, but it was arranged for her to have no choice but to put on men's clothing again and this was seen as enough to condemn her to the flames - which is a long winded way of saying no, they would have found some other reason to execute her.
@@professorgraemeyorston the male clothing she wore represented Joan's relationship to the voices she heard. When she wore them, the church saw this as Joan following the will of the voices (or the Devil as the church was trying to portray) rather than the will of the Catholic church (the guys who had her on trial). Getting Joan to 'return' to female clothing was understood as Joan resuming life as an obedient member under the Catholic Church rather than the rebel who stood up for what she believed. Joan also preferred male clothes when in prison because of the physical protection they offered against the violent abuse from the guards. She threatened the clergy with her direct communication with the divine rather than relying on the church to act as a middleman between God and the common people. It's too simplistic to say she was killed because she wore male clothes, she turned the tide of the 100 yr war and this shook the Church to its core - also she couldn't have worn a dress during battle because that isn't practical
This dude is pathetic. I just saw 2 different documents close to 3 hours. This guy is a biased loser posting falsehoods. Do your own, don't depend on this 10 second video posted by a child
🤔 if she really uttered uttered it was not my body i want to save but my soul guese she learned thr truth the hardway 😁 but least she recognized the truth at the end
I mean... Does schizophrenia affect someone's judgment to this point? She might have had schizophrenia, or maybe she was a type of psychic, which was probably more common in the past than nowadays. But what is important here, was her role in the war. She wasn't exactly "crazy."
No it wasn't because she wore men's cloths. She was charged with that but that didn't warrant her execution. She was accused of relapsing in heresy for not renouncing a vision after the trial, was tried again, and then executed.
I wish people wouldnt repeat the same mythical nonsense. She accidentally predicted a good military strategy one time(yes under her schizophrenic "voices from god") Unpredictable madness is often good at winning military battles. But when she was asked to repeat the event, the army lost and suffered a horrible defeat. So she was given over to the English as a sacrificial lamb to lay blame on.
That’s definitely the opinion one would have from Hollywood. If you read the documents from the trial she comes off as a genius. She went through 3 trials without benefit of council. They lasted a year in total. In the movies she had doubts. The documents show a lucid and resolute individual. Whom It would be impossible not to follow. SMH another supposed historian who has been too busy to read the documents.
@@professorgraemeyorstonin her own words she recanted due to “fear of the fire”. She wore men’s clothing to avoid being raped. Did you actually read the trial of condemnation? Her voices from God is hard to imagine. So was her ability to muster a defense. She humiliated over 60 of the best lawyers and politicians and clergymen of the time for months with no formal education and no legal representation. Is there any individual in history with the mental disorders listed known to have succeeded on the same level? Has there been any general who had so little training and experience who won so many battles? And when you try to call her a figurehead. I ask why did the French always lose with large advantages for decades until she appeared? They had the same generals who fought during the previous 20 years. The same men with less equipment.
"Joan of Arc" serieux ? Jeanne d'Arc est un nom propre, c'est vraiment impossible à prononcer pour un anglophone ? Ils appellent déjà Guillaume le conquérant William... Sinon le film de Besson est une bouze et n'a rien d'historique, mais alors rien du tout...

They’re still doing it and gettinf away with it. What is the popes response? Pool them all together in the same parish so they can rape and molest systematically. How many popes have sat in the throne while simultaneously denying God’s existence? How many ‘saints’ has the catholic empire cannibalized and then ‘resurrected’ and ‘exalted’ to greater earthly glory? They are a demonic parody of the true Church, just like the book of the Revelation warned us of. For me, she was delusional, and she was just lucky. Let's not forget that she was uneducated, couldn't read or count, and had no military experience. Frankly, i believe Joan of Arc was just lucky during the siege of Orleans. Moreover, France was highly devoted to God, and they actually believed that she was a Saint. The English just wanted an excuse and blamed her for blasphemy.
Joan of Arc was called (The Iron Maiden) she was married to a man.. She was a title such as House Maiden. Equivalent to Squier. She faught against the gay prince. . The family of Joan is ready to talk. They kept everything a secret till the world was under one news channel. The Internet is kinda that meaning.
She is the example of how fake religious people following a cult can put someone who is rational and really religious into a position of devil. In whole history mankind has done it to the really scientific people.😢
Well, at least she won a war and became one of the key factors of France's victory, something I believe is unimaginable achievement in many of our lifetimes.
