She was a machine gun of jokes. Sometimes her brain moved too fast, even for her. Talent like this is incredibly rare. Thank you for the laughs Joan, and we miss you terribly.
She was a sensation on "The Tonight Show" at that time. There were times she got higher ratings hosting than Johnny. during the week. People would tell each other, "Joan Rivers is on tonight!" And Joan was an ultimate survivor- she would pick herself up even after the most horrid things happened to her.
@@chevydude658 HaHaHa... _"she was 100xs funnier than Carson"!!!!_ LMAO old timer! 🤣 YOU are the one that should have been the comedian... wait ✋ a sec ARE you a comedian???
Joan was like a fine wine, she got better with time. Her comedy really just got better and better. I was lucky enough to see her do stand up shortly before her death and I must say she was incredible. The routine she had here in this clip didn't even compare to how she had developed by the time she was in her late 70's and 80's. I really miss her. A lot of people gave her a hard time for her plastic surgeries but I have to say she really looked fabulous even at the age of 81.
Blanca W I don't think she was funny at all - just way over hyper and crass to the extreme. Infamously back stabbed Johnny Carson too, nasty bleep she was!
lolwut, what else, the Marx Bros were downright depressing, and Bob Hope couldn't get a laugh even from a mental patient? I hope whatever ails you can be cured.
A wildly talented woman. She is just brilliant and a star that burned so bright. I'm glad I was lucky enough to be entertained LOADS of times by her TV appearances
I'm sitting here watching a rerun monologue from nearly forty years ago, in stitches from laughing out loud. She's a force of nature. Outrageous humour, even today. Prepared to yell hysterical one liners in the middle of an intersection despite the traffic of prudishness from all directions. A moral genius, no less than Lenny Bruce and actually funnier.
Funny Funny Funny! I love Joan Rivers. Always makes me laugh when I'm depressed! So sad that she is not with us but never ever forgotten! She still makes us laugh!!
Brilliant and quick as lightning! When she guest hosted the Tonight Show, her ratings were better than Johnny Carson when he was the host. She was pure genius!
Joan honey so many like myself will never get over the loss of you, I despise the bastards for cheating the world of the Queen of comedy, we're all crying over missing you, but also laughing because of your art and Spirit!!!
She was a riot! No other comic comes near her, she was brilliant and sharp as a razor! @3:35 "wait, that's not the joke! thank you but you're really stupid!" -- I mean, it was just one joke after the other! What an inspiration!
Joan looks absolutely gorgeous and stunning, the hair is to die for, can't get over all that needless surgeries. She would've aged well and graciously.
And she's being a good girl here-in Vegas she was BRUTAL! She did half an hour ripping Elizabeth Taylor with Moby Dick jokes on down. I agree-early-mid 80's peak Joan Rivers. Her and Richard Pryor.
Joan wasn't into drugs. Every once in awhile when she was feeling depressed, she took some Fresca and threw it on a panty shield - it picks you right up!!!
Joan Rivers is just one of a kind! Nobody else can fill her shoes. Honestly no one. I like Kathy Griffin but not even her. Joan was the same person ever since she started.
I was fortunate to see Joan about 8 years ago. The funniest comedian (male or female) that God created. What a loss to her fans. RIP Joanie, keep "em laughing.
What becomes a semi legend most made me laugh so hard!! I have it on cassette but I haven't seen it on cd. If it's out there please let me know. It's Joan Rivers at her best! These Tonight Show episodes are phenonominal! I'm so glad I watched them when they were on tv.
Her style reminds me a lot of robin Williams. They were both just machine guns and it was hysterical joke after hysterical joke. So sad they're both no longer with us.
Joan was the best guest host for Johnny. It’s a shame they had a falling out and never reconciled before Johnny passed away. May they both Rest In Peace.
Joan is my favorite stand up comedian , she just knows out to belt them out , i saw her on stage back when she released " What becomes a semi legend most" LP ,and did the tour circuit ,she always brings the house down , had me laughing so hard i was in pain for a week from my sides splitting , with everything so "Politically Correct " nowadays ,she has toned down a bit and it's just not as good anymore ,thank you for posting these classic bits .
She slayed more people than Atilla the Hun and not one fuck was given. She was as natural of a comedian as anyone you'll eer see. Such a tragedy she didn't inherit the Tonight Show from Johnny, which in and of itself would've been groundbreaking.
