Being English I only found out about how JC got so cross at JR for being offered her own show . Plus how sad that her husband committed suicide. Iv been a huge fan of JR I miss that honest humour
It’s quite obvious from these many appearances on his show that Johnny was extremely fond of Joan. But in a world that was once ran (and still does) by powerful men who set limitations on women, she would have never replaced him on that show. How many years did he expected her to continue to remain his sidekick, when it was obvious from her first appearance that she was way more funnier and charismatic than he was. It’s plain and simple Carson was a envious!!
Balony! Carson was irked when Joan was given a show that was opposit Johnny and took it without giving Johnny a heads up first. He had given Joan a tremendous head start and took as a betrayal.
@@williamkerr2121 yeah and then he spent years lying and saying she'd never called him, and banning anyone who appeared on her show from appearing on the tonight show. and then when leno took over, he did the same out of loyalty to carson. meanwhile lots of other people got their careers launched by carson, a bunch of them even for their own shows! so what was different about joan rivers? 🤔 johnny carson was a legend, but he what he did was unprofessional and vindictive. he never spoke to her again. i had better conflict resolution skills when i was 12.
