When stable fields like law or consulting or investment banking are having layoffs or delaying trainee promotions, you know it is a shit time 😭😭 no wonder all my friends are doing masters instead.
You are so real for keeping everything in. Went through the same thing with job hunting as well as the room thing. It lasted 6 months and now things are turning around so I'm wishing the same thing upon you too!
Searching for internships and finding the same difficulty, just keep it at. Thank you for showing an honest and less glamorous view of day to day post IB, it's nice to know that its not just me who has trouble finding time to clean their room.
Hi Just a suggestion, would you consider roles still in finance but like 1) commercial or corporate banking , 2)consulting or even 3) asset/wealth management? I feel like the pay for these are good yet you can actually have a life and identity outside work?
ooo, thanks for the suggestions :3 i actaully have been looking more away from finance related roles, and want to tap into my marketing curiosity, buttt finance may be something i will fall back back on... we shall see LOOL
I am also job hunting and I had this #wholetmequitmyjob moment but then my boyfriend reminded me of something that I started expanding on through which it came out yet again why I quit. So I remembered fairly well, why it was no longer doable. As you said, I thought the job market would be different at this time (even though I'm in Europe), but I am also not really advancing with my job search. In a month I would start getting unemployment, but I did not want to wait that long and will unfortunately have to start working something soon so that I don't tap into my emergency savings too much. I can always get a job for example cleaning, I just would not get enough for it to be able to keep up with my bills...so it is only a temporary fix. But I am invested in your story and waiting to see what's next for you!
Well an interesting video to watch. You still have that veets from yout long hours in investment banking. Been reading through the comment threads and i see that you want into Marketing. A good industry will also need your content creations skills. I feel if you need a Job soon still diverse into Corporate Banking and Wealth Management. Your experience is a pay day to the next employer... 0 marketing skills may be a low grade, plus heavy target to meet up deals, just like Investment banking no time in marketing... As a publicists i know what marketters go through... So embrace other aspect in corporate finance or wealth management...You get in back. I kinda like you when you are at work and having work and life balance
Can definitely relate to the "American privilege" feeling after visits to family and relatives in poorer areas. They still work and carry on everyday. Made me feel like what I'm facing is not that bad and should just keep pushing on.
I hope you will find the best opportunity soon. I quit my job as I am moving to Riyadh, KSA soon and will search for a job there. You and I are in the same boat.
@@angies_listt I bet😭 this has been my life for the past year and change. Its truly the 20somethings that SZA sang about😅. Excited to follow your journey!
I guess lesson learned. You are not the first or last person to quit their 9-5 corporate jobs as a newly college graduate while doing youtube as a content creator. I have seen other RU-vid channel where one Asian woman quits her job working for Goldman sach as investment banker and is now an English teacher in japan. She regretted it and took down all her content about quitting Goldman. I guess you live an learn.
in my 1 year of working in ib I've seen over 12 people in my team quit and leave, and not a single person regretted it lol. turnover in ib is nothing new
