@@kadevanschindel5285 oh hey same, the irony is that I was completely honest and I know that I'm a decent person and I work hard. But you know answering questions honestly instead of how you think a business would want you too disqualifies you. It's funny how they think they know things about people based on nuanced questions, and it's not just Walmart, tons of businesses do it and it's usually complete bullshit. It's designed to be confusing to you, to test how honest you are but also the businesses don't want honesty, they want perfect workers. So they automatically turn it into a moral dilemma, do I lie to get the job or do I be honest and heavily risk not getting it? Would I even want to work for a business that values obvious lies over actual truth? But also I need a job...they do these things that puts you in a tough position.
i asked a professional recruiter once why these questionnaires exist. He told me that if i ever see one of these lengthy questionnaires its because corporate thinks who ever is overseeing the hiring process is incompetent and untrustworthy. According to him it was a huge red flag that the company sucks. So far he's been 100% accurate
@@eminence8481 it shows that upper management doesn't trust the person doing the recruiting so they give them those God awful surveys to try and automate the process
Not exactly true. I have done hiring for a billion dollar company and we had these tests. I have also been to some pretty impressive companies that use them. They are used to weed out idiots that cannot answer a question the same way when it id worded differently. So for entry level positions, it is extremely helpful. The less idiots I have to interview, the better my life is and it is more likely we will get a decent candidate. Otherwise, they are worthless as it removes nuance and circumstance that can drastically change the answer. Like the "I have never taken stationary home from work" or something along those lines. It removes the nuance of perhaps it was on accident. Maybe I had to use it for some work that I was finishing at home. Or maybe I did take an envelope because I needed to mail something as soon as I got home, but couldn't pick one up because of work, however I replaced it the next day.
@@Augustus-mk1du No? Rape is way above murder. Murder you end someone's life and that's that for them. Rape? You traumatized someone and they live with that the rest of their life if they don't off themselves because of it. Torture is subjective, and a blanket term for the various things a person can do to another so you have to be specific when saying it.
@@WereCreed the torture I agree because it’s very vague so some is worse and some is better than murder but I would say murder is worse than rape as the victim has a chance to get their life together after the event when in murder the victim is given no quarter.
I'm glad people didn't actually start to discuss the abortion issue in the comment section just because it was briefly mentioned. (Of course not against discussing it at all, but reserve it for videos where it was a main topic)
No he didn't. It's the typical dumb people thing to assume that if there are two choices the split will be 50/50. Like saying 50% of humans is female, 50% male. That's not how numbers work...
If I have somewhere to go, then no amount of sleep is enough. I sleep on average 10-12 hours a day and get a full 24 hour in every couples of weeks. I also can't get any kind of night or day pattern. Sleep drives me fucking crazy.
@stupidiot I've often wondered that myself. Doctors just tell me to follow a sleep routine, use lavender and get up at the same time everyday with only 8 hours slept. If I get under 10-12 hours, I will end up falling asleep during what ever activity I'm doing and just sleeping another full sleep of 10-12 hours. As in I can't resist it, not just feeling tired. I also have a lot of trouble falling asleep initially, takes 2-3 hours for me to fall asleep. So basically I set aside 16 hours for the whole thing each day/night. I think something is wrong with me, even though docs say it's poor sleep hygiene. My heart rate gets all out of whack to and feels weak without enough sleep, as well as migraines.
to be fair if you are an unstable, ignorant, sociopath, or idk someone who thinks they are more than they are, it can be really hard to tell, so I would say at least A BIT of questions should be asked, even for a job at walmart
@@big_2361 I never said that, but if you are totally incompetent then you should do something you can do? and get better. do you think it would be allright for anyone to have good jobs? I never said that they should not get a job, but depending on someones set of abilities, then yes, they should be jobless, that's just how it is, you should not be able to get a better job than what you are actually capable of, there are lower wage jobs, and while it's not a good thing in theory, that's the best we can do
@@zkull9982 i didn’t get that you meant unqualified by that. its a bit open to interpretation i think so i misunderstood. other than that yea u cant have a job u are unqualified for, ofc i agree
@@zkull9982 I mean, we're talking entry level low-skill jobs here where the requirements are you can follow simple directions. If you are unqualified to work at a place like that, you likely need disability help.
I have done the wal-mart personality tests multiple times, I complety understand. Not even joking its a computer that marks those tests and if you don't pass a manager never see's you application.
I've done it, and got rejected before. The most important thing in those jobs, and really any job is to know a person there who can vouch for you, or even better, know the person doing the hiring. After that, experience is important.
I'm pretty sure the way to pass these tests is to answer the way you think the company wants you to answer, but vary the level of agreement. So you know for example that the "right answer" is on the "agree" side, but don't always pick "strongly agree." Throw in some neutrals for the questions that you don't think are that important.
How can you make that argument? Which school? And how? I mean if it's just a joke that's fine, but if you actually believe that then how do you actually come to that conclusion?
@@ZachStarHimself I said that, now as Walmart looks to be the best place to get hired, it has become more real. Just did the personality survey and some of those questions were word for word.
Ikr, I looked at their application process, that attribute test they have you do on the very end is confusing as hell, I mean there are even guides, but they don't really matter because whether or not you pass is completely left up to the management, which isn't usually great I've heard..
@@zacknattack they gain value of the products they sell. And pay the grunts what they deserve. I'm sorry but working at Walmart does not require any hard to attain skills. As a worker you sell your time and expertise for money. The higher the value of your expertise the higher you get paid. Walmart employees get paid their due
My dad had to answer "are people fundamentally good" and answered no at a freaking bus driving gig. He should have said "you already know the answer to that if you have to ask it." They didn't hire him.
The problem is that "good" is not a fundamental attribute. It's a perspective based descriptor that can only be applied upon analysis for each individual case. It's an invalid question since it has a presupposition of something having the capacity to be good as a given or they might be violating Grice's Maxims which is a very dishonest form of relaying information. Technically the answer then should be "no" given the only two options they give because people aren't fundamentally good because nothing can be fundamentally good outside of fundamental ethical abstractions.
Had that about 2 years ago, the test was done on a PC, they told me that I should be as honest as possible so I was as honest as possible. After that I talked to them some more and they questioned me about literally every answer that might be mildly controversial. Then they had some more questions and I answered all of them as honest as possible as well. After that I talked to the other applicants there. All of them lied their way through the test and the job interview afterwards. All of them were hired, I wasn‘t because of my answers (they literally told me that), even though I was better qualified than every other applicant. If you‘re reading this, please listen to me: Dont be honest while doing these tests, because your honesty will be punished.
That's getting any job in the real world. Lieing is such an essential skill that I really can't understand why it's not taught in schools at this point. I'd argue that it's just as valuable as reading, writing, and math.
I was basically taught to lie in school. I made a mistake once I brought a Boy Scout knife to school (I only had one or two pairs of pants then, so I rewore the same clothes a lot) and I turned it in to the school before class started, I was 11 years old, explaining my mistake. I was suspended from school for a week for bringing a weapon to school. My mother (unironically named "Karen") just verbally destroyed the administration at the school and let them know that from now on her children will know NOT to use honesty and integrity in school, and any mistakes will be lied about. Which is true. Just like talking to the police, never be honest. Say as little as possible and never admit anything, even a minor mistake can have you punished. That includes a "personality test". Am I a psychopath? Maybe. I'm leaning on the fact that I am still friends with every woman I have slept with and broken up with, and the fact that my formerly abused horse trusts me to tell me I am not. But my ex's nor my pets are phycologists so who knows.
I had one of those job tests once that had a bunch of questions like "Politicians are generally honest" "Politicians are looking out for the best interests of the people". Like for fuck's sake why am I answering these questions to work as a Toys R Us cashier?? These personality tests are worthless. The actual honest people - you know, people who won't steal from the company - won't pass them, but people who are big liars who might steal pass them without a problem. And once you figure it out, you can pass them as a mostly honest person. They don't help at all. I don't know why they can't put together relevant tests - like with scenario questions? "You're currently the only one working at the register, but there's suddenly a very long line of customers. There are no other employees in sight. What do you do?" Seems more relevant and useful than "The president is a good man, Strongly Agree, Agree, Neutral, Disagree, Strongly Disagree".
"You would rather see others succeed, than yourself" I actually got this question before and it's so weird and kinda annoying lol Like, I get that they're testing your good will or whatever the fuck, but you know, I'm not a psychopath. I won't _hate_ on someone who succeeds, prosperity to them, but I would also like myself to succeed, those 2 aren't mutually exclusive... In fact, I worked with a guy who had a bigger salary than me, and more privileges, and I still taught them stuff constantly, and kept helping, whilst doing more work than them (they had a tendency to take like 5 pauses of half-an-hour each, a day, while I basically just had lunch at my computer most times, while working)... I quit in the end because the bosses didn't hold their promises, not because he got rewarded more, props to him, man! ^^ Also this came to mind: 'Yes I actually enjoy seeing everyone else succeed while I stay in a rut, that must mean I'm perfect for the janitor position in your school! ^^ Sooo excited to start soon! I'll be making you the best coffees, and totally won't even think about poisoning a couple!'
Exactly, I don’t wish others to fail, I enjoy to see others to succeed. But who would want others to succeed _instead_ of you. That others are better compensated or better at the job and therefore better paid I don’t mind (within reason, someone who is more experienced earnings 3 times as much I don’t really care about. But if for the same job it instead was a factor 100 it would hurt morale over time).
lucky. I applied at walmart and got an interview and booked it. then 3 days later (before the scheduled interview time ofc) they sent an email saying they cancelled my interview for literally no reason. why.
I recently got invited to an interview for amazon.... I emailed back asking for details of the interview and it said this is an automated email, please do not reply. Then they kept sending the original one every day until they eventually said are you no longer interested in this role? Please log in to your account and discard the application or book an interview time.... and don't reply to this email. Fucking ridiculous
The “I prefer being around people of my own race” question is always the most bizarre thing to see on a questionnaire for any job, especially on the ones that don’t give you a neutral option, then you’re just forced to be racist
OKAY so this is a true story: I have an identical twin brother. We aren't the same in every respect, but when he applied to work at the local Walmart where I was working, I had full confidence that he would get in. But sadly, during the application process he failed the personality test. For months he was pissed off that a place like Walmart claimed to be a perfect authority on what psychologically healthy workers look like, especially given that each question was its own trolley problem with no good answer. Meanwhile, 3-6 months pass, and by that time I've since submitted the notice and quit. But when my savings ran dry, I needed work again, and of everywhere I applied, no one had temp work for me before the upcoming college semester. So eventually, I bit the bullet and applied again for Walmart. I thought getting in good with (being socially nice to) the HR lady there had finally paid off, but sadly, it took weeks to contact her and when she finally did have time she told me to go re-apply online. So I applied online and took the same shit test that I passed the first time, and failed it. My mind wandered to the mentally-gone, piss-smelling, high as fuck degenerate stocking the fabrics that I met during my previous time there, and I was simultaneously both insulted that he had higher $$/hr than I did (when I was clearly more able in every single facet of life) and relieved that I didn't have to keep in his same company anymore. So yes, I have renewed hatred for corporations big enough to be small governments. EDIT: Things I actually like about Walmart: they had the highest pay for grocery retail in my area, and my managers were great people. It was the costumers and the corporate BS that drove me insane.
One thing that I thought was funny is when I got these kinds of tests applying for jobs like grocery stores, theatres ect. I'd call them up after applying and they explicitly told me not to fill in the somewhat disagree, neutral or somewhat agree bubbles because the computer that checks them will just write you off and throw your answers in the trash xD It's hard agree or hard disagree there is no inbetween. Course it's prob different if your answers are in person or viewed by an actual human being lol.
@@proximityclockworkx1572 They want people with extreme personalities, not anyone who is balanced or sees shades of grey. They want black and white thinking.
I swear to god I had that kind of test last week after an interview that went REALLY well. Still haven't heard from them since. What a bunch of bullcrap.
There is a point in an interview where it's okay to thank them for their time and tell them their company probably isn't the right place for you, and then leave.
the “welcome to Walmart” at the end is the most accurate of this by far; I’ve been in interviews with so many questions about dedication, strengths/weaknesses, etc only for them to be applications for fast food restaurants
I had a question where it was “choose the one you most agree with” and it was between “I think my coworkers deserve less than me” and “I believe my way is the only right way to do something” genuinely made me not want to apply
Allow me to explain what these job personality tests are trying to do. In a nutshell, they are using a muddied version of typology to see if your type fits the role. Key word, 'muddied.' There is actually a simpler version of typology that can not only be done in four questions and is more accurate, but also can be worked into conversation. Using this efficient method, the interviewee never knows they're being typed. For anyone who's interested in these questions, keep reading. However, *consider this your warning.* This is using Myers-Briggs (also known as MBTI or 16 personalities): 1. Is the subject people focused or object focused? If people focused, the first and last letters are either E & J or I & P. If item/object focused, the first and last letters are either I & J or E & P. If people focused (E & J or I & P) ' 2A. Are they more likely to relay on outward ideas or internal ideas? If outward focused, the first and last letters are E & J. If inward focused, the first and last letters are I & P. If item focused (I & J or E & P). 2B. Do they prefer to limit and organize the amount of data, or continuously expand but never organize data? If they limit information, the first and last letters are I & J. If they limit information, the first and last letters are E & P. Next steps apply to both subjects of 2A and 2B. 3. Overviews and analogies or details? Do they speak in analogies or describe things in overviews? If so the second letter in N. Do they speak and describe things in fine detail? If so the second letter is S. 4. Logic, facts and puzzles or opinions, values and emotions? Do they seem to be more focused on logic, facts or see everything as a puzzle? If so the third letter is T. Do they seem to be more focused on opinions, values or emotions? If so the third letter is F. Letter Legend: E & J - Extroverted Judging I & P - Introverted Perceiving I & J - Introverted Judging E & P - Extroverted Perceiving N - Intuitive/Intuition S - Sensing T - Thinking F - Feeling Each of these 16 types have there own stack of cognitive functions. If your interested enough to have read this far, I suggest looking at a RU-vid channel by the name of Frank James. He covers all of this in a much clearer way, and also goes into cognitive functions. "Well I feel like if you know you're working the next day you can easily plan on when to go to bed," he said to people watching this video at 2am who have work in the morning
Just recently during an interview I was asked if I was a permission or forgiveness type of person?! It was such a preloaded bs question, I immediately realized I didn't want to work for them in any capacity.
I fr got one that said "I oftentimes give up when a task is too hard / I easily give up on tasks" I had no neutral or anything just had to choose which I agree with more. There is NO winning that.
Questions so open to interpretation and context the only way to pass is to have a brain wired exactly the same as the interviewer. Clearly not a workplace that values tolerance or diversity.
I should’ve found this way before I applied to jobs that never called me back. Though honestly, I have applied three times to a job at White Castle and they hired me right on the spot because they were desperate this time. Those other times they did not want me at all. Kind of hate the fact that getting a job is so much harder now! Even with these crazy surveys.
welcome to Walmart? I applied there then got an interview scheduled and then 3 days later I got an email saying they cancelled my interview for literally no reason
This has been my experience for every single place I've applied to this year. Either they found somebody more "qualified" or they've canceled the interview entirely. Briefly worked one job in January, didn't get to finish training before they laid me off because of COVID. Been job surfing since...
Personality tests are only accurate when scored by a licensed psychologist. The Navy made be do a personality text in order to work under water. But it is done by a Psychologist and I passed. I would sue if some rando HR tried wanted to test me.
i had basically this exact experience when i applied for wal-fart over a decade ago... one of the questions was about having a drink with you while on the clock, and i said "disagree. though i don't drink alcohol", and the guy said "i never said alcohol...", and wrote something in his notes...
Lmaooo once I did a quiz for a job to clean at a GYM. They asked shit like u like problems that require a lot of thinking. Like bruh imma be cleaning vomit off floors, not building rockets
I decided to never lie in life. Tests like these would destroy me. Also, I've lied twice since setting that objective, disregarding lying to doctors, since that's just a necessity to be able to survive at all. I still feel bad about that one time someone asked me how I am and I said I'm good when I wasn't, about 14 years ago. It took me forever to figure out how to deal with that. For a long time I simply refused answering that question, now I just give relative values to how I feel on average.
