Hello friends,
I received some call-back interviews so in this video I started preparing for tech screens! There are amazing videos out there that actually teach the technical aspects of SQL & Python, so instead, I wanted to share some of my favorite resources that have been helping me. As always, I hope you enjoy!
xx,
Julia

Hey Julia~ best of luck on your job search! I already know you’ll land a job you love because you know what you want and it’s inspirational to see how you strive to go for it. You’re much younger than I am, but I think you just inspired me to review my database knowledge and update myself. Please keep the videos coming and I hope the next level interviews go well for you!

Great to give yourself some space for the job search and not feel "rushed". Obviously everyone's situation is different but I was laid off last year. A little further in my career in tech, at the Sr. Director level, but it was quite a shock. It was the first time in 20 years I didn't have a job. I gave myself 3 months off (severance). Gave me time to rethink what was important to me and my family. I started consulting. Interviewed for lots of roles but didn't find anything I really felt was right. So still consulting and working on starting my own business. It's a journey. Also, learn to love the power of "no". When you say "no" to something (a role that's a bad fit, etc) you are only eliminating 1 possible option. All the other options in the universe are still available to you. When you say "yes" to something you eliminate ALL OTHER options. So make sure the "yes" is something you really feel good about. Good luck!

Video idea alert, I love how you said you know what you want out of the job, what you want to do in the job and skills you want to either use or skills you want to gain. Can you do a video on the skills you have vs what you want to expand on the job, how you know exactly what job you want and want to do on the job and even do a interview scenario of the answers and questions you face on interviews and how you answer them? I am in marketing and I know its board but I usually apply to social media roles or digital marketing roles ( this role you need more SEO, Paid ads experience which I new at), but I think my issue is I dont know what I want, what industry I want t work in or what I want to do.. At this point I want a job lol, but I would love some advice or how you figured out what you want in a job and what company/industry you want to work for

I am also in New York and looking for a new job. I am currently employed though. You're right. The interviewing cycle for tech positions is brutal. Moreover, for every company the kind of preparation needed is different. For the last two months I've just been focusing on preparing for Meta, and I still don't feel confident. After this I'll try for other companies like Google, which will have it's own prep. The HR/Recruiter call ALWAYS goes well though! Haha. They are the best. Anyway, good luck. I cannot get myself to quit my job and look for a new one. So I mostly spend nights and weekends in preparing.

Hi Julia, another lovely vlog :) I have a question... I'm trying to pivot more into a business analyst role from a sales development role and I'm trying to create a portfolio of work which could showcase my data analytics skills. My current job does require us to analyse some numbers however we solely rely on internal systems so I'm trying to develop my skills using different platforms and languages out there rn. Does any one have advice on how one could create such a portfolio - i.e: in addition to the resources mentioned by Julia in this vid, are there good free resources out there that provide data that we could use to build such portfolio of work? or any advice in general when it comes to pivoting to such roles/building and showcasing technical skills would be much appreciated!
