Joci Pápai represented Hungary at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv with the song Origo. If you want to know more about Joci, visit eurovision.tv
Bulgaria was overproduced English-language trash. "Origo" was great, but probably juries hold back because of the rap, it's like the biggest "no" for them.
still to this day i cant understand how this song wasnt winning. It got EVERYTHING culture, own language, beautiful dancing, insane emotional voice, crazy lyrics, perfect violin sound and most of all it brings tears or goosebumps. BIG fucking respect from serbia.
Love both too. _The Big Smile of violin player and his rythm is so beautiful to watch. The Bulgarian Woman Dancer did it perfect, we can see her emotional role through her beauty face and movements. In general, they make a great performer and bring Eurovision an espectacular Show. Greeting Tempus fugit and thanks so much for ur commentary, i agree wiz you 100%
The both should have been dismissed. They've ruined it visually. The sad, emotional song and the violinist with her exaggerated smile. The song itself and the vocalist are so very bold and outstanding enough.
I didnt understand a word, yet it made me tear up 3 times. A-fucking-mazing! This is why people should sing in their native languages. Sending love from Serbia
Nenad Rumovic I loved your country's song too but I think you should join this year with your own language. Serbian language totally better. greetings from Turkey ❤
Full of Emotion: You have to close your eyes You can see me like this To conquer my heart You must know my soul If I'm not needed, let me go I was born a vagabond I have suffered enough But God sees me Why did you lie to me? That my color doesn't matter You know my eyes are brown It never changes in me I'm not asking you anymore Get out of here, leave me I don't even see you Be damned forever God spoke to me at the age of four He gave me a real gun I knew only he could take care of me I practiced with him more than a samurai I can trust him, he always tells the truth I can cry with him, but he shows the way A covenant that will last forever He cannot be sacrificed, he is my greatest treasure Mysterious powers resided in the child They were afraid of him, it shows in their eyes My strings attack, cry in the bodies No matter how hard you protect it, it's poison in the instrument I have intoxicated large crowds with it You hear my tune, you already know my name It's a long way, wounds on my back Thousands of tears flow on my guitar
I'm speechless... I almost cried when I realised the televot saved Joci, and put him 8th place. Thank you Europe from Hungary! AND CELEBRATE OUR DIVERSITY!
I know, but it was a big dream in Hungary to be in top 10 again after 2013 and 2014. I'm disappointed about the jury, but Europe loved our song, and that's was really important.
Yes, I think you're right. But he was the first gipsy guy ever who could make the Grand Final, and he reached 8th place. I'm just happy about it, and I can tell you, Joci is too, cause being in the Final was a big dream for him, and top10 seemed unreachable, but he made it.

4 years later I was never able to get this song out of my head and I don't understand a single word in Hungarian I love the emotion that is conveyed here, just beautiful and captivating well performed too💚 I'm grateful to experience other cultures being shared with us through art I come back to this performance from the finals time and time again, it's easily one of my favourite ESC songs and presentations ever
@@zitamile7551 thank you that's really kind of you to offer🙂 I was sure they must have a beautiful meanining so I've read the lyrics up online before I can only hope the translations do this song justice haha despite the language gap I always still really enjoyed this masterpiece :D but thanks again!
@@zitamile7551 yes please! My mom is Hungarian but never lived there so her Hungarian isn’t perfect. I adore this song and would love to know the meaning ♥️🇭🇺
I am an Irish guy but I can speak Hungarian fluently. I taught myself 12 years ago and one of the ways for me was listening to Hungarian music, Joci Papai was one of the first Hungarian musicians I listened to, I fell in love with his music especially his song "Ne nezz igy ram" He deserved to win tonight. Nagy teljesitmeny es dalt Joci, tok buszke rad vagyok te vagy a legjobb elfelejteni a tobbit. hatalmas tiszteletem Irorszagbol.
Thanks Robmoran1989 and well done you for learning Hungarian, not an easy language!:) This song is beautiful, living in the UK makes my heart longing for home, Hungary...Well done Joci!!!
Came back after 6 years and the passion i see in the gypsy girl dance is so beautiful ,love the chemestry between them so beautiful to me it will remain one of the best moments of EUROVISION !💖💖💖💖💖💖
Thank you, Matt! Croatian votes are highly appreciated! Your decision shows you understand how much does it mean respecting your culture, heritage, language and respect to any other people regardless where they are coming from. :) Thank you, Croatia!!!
Hungary left me speechless with this song! It totally shook me emotionally! I love watching ESC fro finding this kind of beauties. After Serbia's ''Molitva'' this is the only song that has touched me so hard! Everything is so well blended to this one:music, lyrics, stage performance. Watching this one I get the feeling I'm reading a very interesting novel. The guy is so powerful/girls are amazing, especially the dancer who reminds me of a beautiful butterfly fluttering around. This song and performance will always be remembered after many, many, many years! So damn cool! Great job! Greetings from Georgia!
Eka Archvadze I couldn't agree more with this comment. This was the only song this year that without understanding a word of what he's saying, I felt a strong connection with it. 12 points to Hungary from Latin America. My Favorite song 2017. BRAVO HUNGRÍA!!!
This song is perfect for the "Celebrate diversity" tagline of this year. Joci Papai is Roma, the poorest and most routinely oppressed minority in Europe. The song is about the struggles of the Roma, being born a wanderer without a nation, and a girl leaving him because of his skin and eye colour.
I don't even know how many times I've heard this song now, yet it gives me chills *EVERY* time. IMHO, one of the best songs to ever come out of Eurovision.
This was a standout performance, in every possible aspect. It had class, authenticity, beautiful music and rhythm, and it was inspiring. I come back often to rewatch this performance, and I agree with other comments that this is how Eurovision should be. Greetings from the UK.
OMG I'm so glad this song is in the Top 10!! I was so pissed when juries didn't vote for him, but then the televoting came to save the day!!! I'm so happy for Joci and Hungary. This was my absolutely favorite this year. Much love from Greece.
Wow! What a pure emotions! Proud of voted for it! Hungary your entries make me vote every year! Hope you will do your best! Go Joci! Much love and tons of hugs from your brother coutry - Poland! szeretlek you Magyars!
This song is incredible. I am listening this for the past 2 days and cant stop. Pure emotion, i hope Eastern Europe will show us next year more of their languages. Keep on the good work. Greetings from Germany
First time I'm hearing this song and I'm in love. I'm from Romania, I don't understand a word he is saying but he transmits so much... Your nationality/ ethnicity is less important as long as your heart is in the right place. Lovely voice and I hope to hear from you more often :)
A lot of people didnt understand why this was my favourite. Im not a gypsy but i felt thier pain, a lot of my friends are gypsies. Gosh thank you hungary for sending such a diverse and beautiful song
@@oops7164 venus venus Sort of..He is a Hungarian gypsy. There are ongoing issues between gypsies and Hungarians ever since I can remember. He sings that you can only see his real personality when you close your eyes and he also says that why did you lie that my colour doesn't matter..He also mention his love for God and his strong connection with him. What is he trying to say with the song?We all have our own thoughts. :) Someone says it is just a love song abour one of his girlfriend.I believe it much more complex.
I am not gypsy, but it really gave me goosebumps.... Then I read the lyrics. It's too bad to be judged by your origin, it's something that none of us get to choose... Love from Greece
I didn't quite like this song... Then I listened to Az én ápam and saw the translation of the lyrics and got very emotional! Then I came back and watched this and I really like it now :| Sad thing I didn't like it back then...
''Music is not fireworks, it's emotions.'' said by Salvador Sobral and it definitely applies here. Many people favored Hungary (including me) because this masterpiece is full of emotion and pure music. I believe this song evoked lots of unique emotions in different people even if we didn't understand the lyrics. We can see the depth in his eyes and face. The fact that it didn't win doesn't necessarily mean that it's a great piece of art. Thank you Joci Pápai (and also beautiful dancer lady :) from Turkey...
It is not always about winning.....the true gems are typically further down the ranks. This is one of my all-time Top 10 Eurovision songs, and a true masterpiece. You don't need to understand the lyrics to feel the pain, and this is what the ESC should be: coming together, non-nationalistic, diverse, and tolerant. Only then we are a great continent.
@@kimacronym2521 Oh,yeah that's correct but i didn't mean your comment 😅 I replied to Beyza's comment(that's why I typed in Turkish😅). Sorry for the misunderstanding. But you are definitely right. I am %100 agree with you:)
and again we saw how cruel european juries are. one of the best performances. definitely deserved a better place. but at least it's a huge place in our hearts. bravo hungary, greetings from 🇹🇷💕
I am Hungarian and I am obsessed with this song🥰 I don’t understand. Why didnt win Hungary 1 Eurovison? Like 2017 2014 or 2013🥺 Its good to see that, Hungary get so much love from the comments so i am so proud and thankful🥰💞
Just read this song's lyrics in an English translation and... damn, they are so powerful and his live performance made people feel it. Maybe the best Hungarian entry ever. Peace and Big UP from Romania!
This is one of those songs that i still will listen to after eurovision. Congratulations Portugal, your song was amazing as well, but this is was my 1! i'm happy that i voted for it
I'm very happy that we won 2017 but I liked this song also very. To be honest I wasn't thinking that we win with our song, maybe because I thougt only who understand the lyrics can really feel it. sorry for my englisch, isn't the best
Great song, great singer, great violinist, beautiful dancer. Juries didn't give them enough points ((no comment), but did you see how the PUBLIC VOTE put HUNGARY in 8th place? That's the power of the PEOPLE celebrating good music and national identity of the peoples of Europe, the most diverse of the continents.
I'm so happy the public so how magnificent this song was!! Shame that the Jury underrated it so much. Joci gave a voice to an underrepresented group of people. He honoured his Hungarian heritage, not singing in English and really mastering the combination of ethnic, traditional instrumentation and dance with the modern style of singing and rap. Really a masterpiece, 8th is really an honourable position!!
