I mean, just look at this scene. EVERYONE is waving their flags. They're not cheering for any particular country or artist, they're cheering for themselves, and each other. This is actually a true moment of unity, everyone swaying and waving along to a song that is appealing for EVERYONE that everyone can make a positive impact, that everyone can drive change, no matter how small. Truly beautiful, this song definitely deserved to win.
It's 2023 and I'm still obsessed with this song, it never gets old, like literally never!! One of the best Eurovision songs ever, if it's not the best 🔥❤️
handsome and nice clothes? That has nothing to do with a good song. There are singers that are not so "handsome" and wear no cool clothes and they are doing it thousand times better.
CynderNeko There's that one moment during the Eurovision performance when the camera hovers above Mans Zelmerlow, and during the one proper close up, he smizes up at the camera ever so captivatingly. It was that short moment that clinched the deal for me. People react to seemingly silly shallow little things like that. It was the extra magic sparkle on top of an already great song and voice. Of course opinions can differ. But I think Mans struck a chord with many viewers, and they voted for him.
I still listen to it like every day, definitely my favorite Eurovision Song. This one and Arcade from Duncan. This song is such an original I was honestly lightly shocked when I saw that people never heard this song
One of the most memorable stages. I think everyone watching this performance was impressed by the graphics and the well timed "interactive" moments. So good!
I’m not hating on anyone, but can we just agree that Måns was the one that kind of “started” this type of performance that comes to life, and brought it to a big stage?
When Måns was competing in Swedish Idol he got a lot of negative comments from the jury about how he wasn't as good as the other contestants at singing. Back then a statement like that was pretty accurate but MAN have he evolved!
I love how simple yet complex this performance was/is. No backup dancers, no crazy costumes, just some amazing interactive animations and a good song sung by a charismatic singer. What's not to love?
The attractive part probably come from our water (genes? 😁) and the talented because we promote music from an early age. We have subsidized after school music education. And have had since the 40s. So anyone who wants to do music, can do so for free. 👌
Well, you also seem attractive from your pp 😂😂 As I have lived in Sweden for 5 months (with Erasmus) I can suggest you to live there, at least temporarily, and you will see it for yourself! 🇸🇪😄
People are arguing whether this has won "just because" of the LED-show, or because of the song. I say it's the combination! The LED-show is amazing, and it certainly added value to the whole performance, but it wouldn't be as effective if the song wasn't great.
i mean to be honest, both of them were kind of ground breaking (atleast in my mind) This is actually a relatively sloppy performance compared to how precise everything was at melodifestivalen (a swedish festival where people decide what song should go on further to eurovision for those who don't know) where he had close to perfect sync. No matter the case however this was really something that måns fleshed out to its full potential and had a perfect mood in the song to boot. starting out lonely but optimistic with everything around him being a wasteland, further and further going into building up a heavenly empire of his own. It was new and empowering. It stood out from the "im the artist listen to me" sort of trend at least i felt at the time. It wanted to stand out expecting nothing back and yet earned everything instead. Truly amazing and inspiring.
You dont need the best song ever when you bring the whole package. Sound mixing, light production, animation, interacting with the animation, performance, a good song, dance and most of all a artist that enjoys what he is doing so much, you cant take the smile of his face. Good for you Måns, you couldnt have done it any better.
Back in the 2015 when i was a little kid, my parents watched tv and they said that Sweden was the favourite to win the contest, i liked this song so much then and i was so happy when i learned that he won. After 8 years i still think that it is one of my favourite winning song. Love from Greece 🇬🇷
There's something I want to point out here. I think the camerawork is incredible and goes flawlessly along with the performance. What really stuns me though is the coordination. After he won, he put on an encore. The performance was incredible as you might expect from the winner, but I also noticed that the camera movements and shots were the exact same as this initial performance. The talent from the director to arrange it all was incredible, and the camera operators for remembering all of it. Granted, each cameraman only has to remember his movements. On the flip side though, they have to memorize all of their movements for each and every performance, not just this one. Incredibly well done by everyone.
It’s mostly all electronic camera so they rehearse it and then basically hit play and the camera do the exact same thing. There was a video on how they do it
Actually there was a lot of conplaints on the camerawork here because a lot of the angles were wrong as they were not supposed to shange during the animated segments
Mans himself, his energy, voice, movements, chareography, lightening, effects, the song, music, words are epic. Perfectation. Really winner. This was anthem for me from 2015
Actually, I'd say that this was the most mediocre winner of the century so far. 2001 and 2002 were both terrible, 2003 and 2004 were good and deserved, 2005 was quite good but not deserved among so many amazing entries, 2006 and 2007 were good, 2008 was bad, 2009 and 2010 were far from the best but good enough, 2011 was bad, 2012 was perfect, 2013 and 2014 were very good and deserved, 2016 was bad, 2017 was the absolutely perfect winner, 2018 wasn't the best but it was quite good. That leaves 2015 having the only mediocre winner. Mans is a great pop performer and the staging was perfectly on point but the song itself is mediocre or worse, quite boring and uninspired. Without Mans it would never stand a chance. Italy should have won 2015. Even Malta, Spain, Latvia, Ireland and Norway would be better winners. Russia and Israel would be equally mediocre. Also Czechia, France, Armenia and Austria, while nowhere close to deserve winning, had better songs than the Swedish one.
2015 is still my favorite year with so many great songs: Heroes, A Million voices, Grande Amore, Rhythm inside and the first time Australia participated with Tonight Again!
The Donuteater Gaming 300 I know, Måns wrote this song about bulling and stuff like that, he was bullied as a child. Look at him now. He took that anger into a fucking awesome song. People have 0 creativity
how the hell can Sweden ALWAYS send quality to ESC?? How is it possible that there are so many good singers with a good voice, good music and good lyrics??? And good taste for the performance... It's amazing. Always a pleasure to see Sweden on stage. Cant wait 2016!!!!
Well the national final in Sweden (Melodifestivalen) has a pretty smart voting system. 50% are from swedish televotes, and the other 50% are from jury groups around Europe. It's probably because of that.
SuperZooan92 Actually I knew that already and its absolutely understandable, it's just a pity that many people don't know that and don't know the background of many succesful songs.... I don't like when great things are hidden from public
Just want to make it clear for everyone. "Lovers on the Sun" was written in 2014 and "Heroes" in 2013. Måns didn't released it when it was written because he sent it in February 2014 to Swedish Television, "SVT" for Melodifestivalen February 2015 (The competition before Eurovision 2015). One of the producers for "Lovers on the Sun" is the Swede, Avicii. For the record, in my opinion the songs aren't that similar, maybe in the beginning and chorus, but nothing else. Måns is not homophobic, if he was he wouldn't even hug Conchita when he won, he wouldn't kiss a guy at a party in Stockholm and he has made several excuses for what he said in Plura's show. He was the host of the "QX Gay Gala" in year 2014, the biggest event for homosexuals in Sweden. If Eurovision was "Europolitics" then Russia wouldn't even make it to the second place. She would probably doesn't get any points at all. She got second place because she is amazing, had a really wonderful performance and voice. The people of Russia chose her (which is quite lovely, because that means they want peace) not the state. Her song is also written by two Swedish songwriters. And after all, Måns won because he had a great performance, wonderful voice and really deserved it after all his work. To sum this up, this is what he said when he had won: "We all are heroes no matter who you are, who we love or what we believe in, I love you!"
Savo Marash That's your opinion, but I guess both you and I know what the meaning of "mainstream" is, it means that most people loves it and are listening to it.
Savo Marash Sweden creates the 'mainstream'. When you think you are listening to an American hit song it is pretty likely that the song was actually made by Swedes, and only performed by an American with a pretty face and good voice. Like Britney Spears, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift, for example,
Lina Hansson Great comment. I agree with everything, except the part where you call the Russian girl amazing. She was horrible. There was nothing special about her performance and the lyrics made it even worse. Why would you sing about peace and love when you're trying to achieve the exact opposite?
I personally think the best part of eurovision is hearing everyone freak out after the winner is announced, no matter who it is. Come on people, it's a silly little music competition that everyone forgets in a few weeks anyway, not the end of the world. And as for who you think should have won, just remember that everyone has a different taste in music and just because you like a song, it doesn't mean everybody else in the world has to.
Jorunn B we do have different tastes in music but sweden won because of the jury the "experts" went with the silly pop star who was good but not the best the real winner is italy(by far)
David Marin I still don't get what the big deal is. Why does it even matter who wins when everyone forgets about this years winner as soon as the contestants for next year are announced?
David Marin Hmm, Just think about this for a second... What kind of competition is it? Is it about best performance? Best looks? Best vocals? Or MAYBE, Best SONG?! This competition is obviously about the best SONG, which "Heroes" definitely is. Apart from the other 26 songs, "Heroes" is not about some childish love crap, it's about being a good role model and helping each other. I mean, Italy.. Another song about "Amore"? Seriously? I really liked their singing, but it is the SONG that is competing.
with a distance of 7 years i still sing this. It gives me vibes that i never felt in other situations. I really hope there'll be something like this in Eurovision 2022
It is pretty crazy, my poor little nation of Sweden of approx. 10 million souls goes and wins the Eurovison contest every 3 years. Not only that, several contributions in the contest are made of Swedish song-writers also the choreography (Spain, Azerbadjan). The problem to host the event over here becomes less for every year as super-arenas and hotels are mush-rooming, regular people cannot find apartments for living a life but there's plenty of room for tourists. Nevermind the nation, this young person is a worthy winner by himself, an excellent singer and entertainer, a mild-mannered personality with wit and a great genuine smile. His interaction with the animation in the performance is incredible and requieres a sharp mind. Congratulations Måns, you were a winner even before the contest.
I couldn't agree with you more! It's not just about the song, it's also (for a great part!) about the person, the presentation, the stage vibe, and he has indeed a great personality on stage and even without the song I loved just seeing him perform with all that energy, he gave all he had!
If that is true they are cheating because the song must be new. It cant be from 2013 and compete in eurovision in 2015. Just deal with it they copied of david guetta
Brynjar Reynisson that's not true, it just not supposed to be published/performed before. Songs are typically produced one year before they are accepted into the local competition in sweden (and written any time before then), which is 6 months before eurovision. It's a long process to write, produce and submit songs. I've done it myself
Brynjar Reynisson The song (Heroes) was made for the swedish eurovision song contest 2014, but didn't make it. They tried again a year later, and won the whole thing. Just deal with that it's not copied
Brynjar Reynisson No, the song didn't compet in Sweden 2014. They WROTE the song for swedish esc, but it didn't make it. The song was never in the competition. What I mean is that they never send it in that year. They waited. But still, they wrote it before lovers on the sun , so it's not a copy
I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH, this songs reminds me of childhood😭 this was such a banger in Poland! 🇵🇱 so much love🩷 saving this again on my Spotify spring playlist 😂
Can everybody just stop being so butthurt over the fact that Sweden won? Yeah the guitar in the beginning sounds like the guitar in Guettas song, but the melody is different. Do you mean to tell me that only Guetta is allowed to use that kind of guitar sound and if any other wants to use it they are "copying"? And OF COURSE the performance matters when you're on stage, his performance with the little screen dude was really good. Technology ftw 👌🏼
+Elin Nilsson Is not just the beginning. The entire song sounds a whole too much like Guetta´s song. But of course Eurovision is not about music, but performance and stage appearance
