As a 19 year old dude, I'm glad I live in an age where I have direct access to hear and consume the content of Jocko Willink, Jordan Peterson, Joe Rogan, Gary Vee, Grant Cardone, Jim Rohn, Tom Bilyeu, Patrick Bet-David, and other great content creators -- feels great. Thanks, Jocko and RU-vid!

I also met a kinda diverse group of online people that i played Gta5 online with for almost a month who i became friends with and talked to, played games together. But as soon as the group as a whole found out that i was american, the mood changed very quick and they really kinda stopped talking to me in the chat . And one of them flipped on me over a race because d-sync showed on there screen that i crashed into her but i didn't. Thank you for sharing that British Soldier`s story. What a stud he was. My dad was a Marine at the Frozen Chosin Reservoir Trap. He was operating a .50 Caliber machinegun until wounded. He was very Grateful to the British Marines. He called them Hell on Wheels. According to him, they broke through 7 Chinese roadblocks, and helped our men out of a bad spot. Thank you for an enlightening and heart felt written experience. These were great men and warriors who lived invisible and brilliantly as regular men. We cannot know these men because most are dead and their history is a powerful and visceral lesson that we as living ancestors of brave, valuable and stoic men who fought, killed and survived the history in which they lived through. We need warriors to tell their stories, give us the insight to how they stood firm and made their way through a history that we cannot know. The value of their outlook I think lives in some but it seems that society is turning its back to the power of the unseen and unknown individual. This man was and is a fine example of the past slowly disintegrating by the softness and bubble of history’s winners.

Flak is a generic term for anti aircraft artillery. It was borrowed from the German military acronym FlaK, short for Flugabwehrkanone which means “anti-aircraft cannon.” Flak jackets are so named because they were initially developed to protect RAF aircrew in WWII from fragmentation from such artillery.

As a girl I played with my brothers plastic green soldiers and briefly considered joining but my father heavily discouraged me and I caved. I greatly admire and support warriors including military and law enforcement. Watching American society these days where there are so many who don't support warriors (especially police and ICE) I have wonder lately - do I support men of the warrior class because I was conditioned having a father who was a WWII vet? Or is there a warrior class by genetics and being a daughter of that genetics causes me to support it. And why do some people not support the people protecting them? I guess I'll never know the answer! Keep up the great podcasts Jocko! (and Echo)

Jewels M I guess your dad had seen so much horror he couldn’t imagine his daughter (or son) having to go through the sane heart aching experience. When my grandfather (a Scottish WW2 Veteran) found out I joined the army was upset that I joined the army (I volunteered and my grandfather was conscripted). He died the year I served in Iraq and never had the opportunity to share my experience with him, however in retrospect I realised why he was upset with my choice. I’m in two minds in regards to my service in that it was the best and worst of my life. At the end of the day I volunteered and the outcomes are on me. I think your dad was trying to protect you, rightly or wrongly that’s beside the point. Look I’m happy I made the choice to serve but I have paid a huge life price for the privilege.
@jmethos
@jmethos 4 года назад
@@garydaly My father actually didn't talk about the horror aspects of war concerning my own service. As a woman back when I wanted to enlist women were not in battle or front line positions. And I wanted to go air force to work as a controller in a tower and I'd scored well on the ASVAB in that area. I felt I could translate this to a civilian career. His concern had to do with a stereotype from his generation that enlisted women were not always of high moral character concerning adult relations. In other words his concern was for what he considered my right and future role as a wife and mother. Times have changed obviously. He did talk to me later about his experiences - once for a report for school and then later in his life when I was in my late 40's and 50's. His stories really did point out how fragile the line is between right and wrong when you see what people will do on a battle field, some necessary and right for the mission, some selfish and evil for personal gain. Thank you for your reply! I appreciate it.
@lewis6590

I think some people are not conscious of their failure to separate the people making policies from the people carrying them out. It's easy to believe from the outside that every soldier agrees with and believes in the war they are fighting. And when that's not the case, I think that is then even harder to understand for many people.

In the late 1970s my brother and I used our BB Guns against each other. Making sure we didn’t shoot in the face! We never did but enough pain and bruises on legs and body to show how we were obsessed with Play War. For me I joined the army in 1989, and in 1991 I was deployed to Iraq and to patrol with section moves, live ammunition, claymores, radio checks and artillery support I found a measure of my childhood fantasy come alive in Iraq. Still at the end of the tour it was no longer child friendly and my learning experience from Iraq 1991 put rest to childhood fantasyland. RIP Sgt. Eddie Grant.

I'm tall, athletically above average, have unshakable confidence and am talented in everything I do (I have aced the highest classes available to me in math, english, art, science and even drama) I rarely study for tests and rely heavily on natural talent and almost always get away with it. I have nothing to prove. No one doubts me. I'm afraid of nothing, and have nothing to prove, I have the privilege of a very supportive family. I feel I have never been truly challenged. Because of these things, motivation comes hard for me. My question: What can I draw motivation from if not from fear or doubt? Why should I become great at something or put in the work when I can just coast along and still do better than most people?

Mario Mario join the military as an enlisted man. I am positive you will find you have a lot to fucking prove. I mean that with all respect. Not as an officer but as a grunt, on the ground, cleaning the shit in the field, awake for days on end, taking orders from self deluded fuckwits, taking on challenges, boredom, stress, comradeship and giving yourself everything you have for nothing but your own decision to give up 4 years of your life. You will hate yourself for making enlisting almost daily, however it’s the only place where you will get to appreciate the joy of having two minutes to take a shit, drink dirty water to soothe your parched thirst, make friends with freaks and mad fucks you would never get to meet on your life. It’s a hard l, contradictory and positive life experience. You will know when you leave after your service how fucking awesome the brief periods of comradeship and teamwork will stay with you for the rest of your life. If you are serious, join the military and work yourself up from recruit to soldier. You will regret every second but you will live on the positive power for decades to come. There's some bad people here in Shelby. But I outmaneuvered them. I out thought them and like a Berserker I scared the s*** out of them. You know why? Cuz Tweakers are already scared. The minute they do that first hit. Those little bastards hurt the kids. I've seen it. And I'll put that fire out. That's pretty tough. Talk for a little skinny guy, huh?🦅🇺🇸❤ America Who is going to protect the children And a hand was seen I'll do it.😁⚓ I was put on charge. For entering a space Where deadly force was authorized I have to admit. It was kind of fun.🤪🤺
