I picked up a 87 mij squier tele with J. B. Pickups in it. What great pickups. I recommend these pick ups if anyone who is looking for a set. Thanks Shane. Cheers
A great demo. Thank you. I have Blonde Tele like this and was thinking of switching to these JB pickups too. Are the the same ones Bruce Springsteen uses? 🙂
Hello, question from a fellow leftie, did you buy a set with left handed option for the bridge pickup or did you just put a normal bridge pickup in upside down? Thanks
From Dale Brown of JBE pickups, when I asked this question -- "Yes, we do left-hand versions of the T-Style pickup sets, both Gatton and Modern models. Let me know, please, if you would like to move forward with an order." ....another Lefty
Shane, LOVE both your playing AND "In the Blues"! Listening to your JD Tele pickups got me to order my first set (arriving next week). Can't wait to switch mine out. I have one question I couldn't find on your page (or on any video). What strings do you use on your tele? I use DR Blues (9-42) but looking for a change and I'm curious what you prefer. Cheers!
You do really fantastic demos, Shane! Would you possibly be able to do a Paul C Timmy or Crowther Hotcake (or both 😀) demo using an ac15 or ac30? It would be fantastic!
Thanks HEAPS for this VID Shane :) I hope it will inspire me to get around to finally installing my Joe Barden pickup into my Squire Classic Vibe 50s Butterscotch Tele...
Man, they'll sound great in that guitar that's for sure. :) You "might" need to upgrade the volume pot on that guitar to make the most out of the pickups but it's a piece of cake :)
I have to ask- is that just a run of the mill 52 Reissue? It seems more colorful than most I've seen. Have you done anything to the finish at all? Thanks.
Hi Shane, I've had a Dimarzio Chopper T in my esquire for a while but now I was looking to put the Joe Barden Danny Gatton Bridge PU in. My guitar has the same features as yours so I was wondering which pot value's you use in yours? With the Dimarzio my sound tended to be quite 'trebly', which cuts great through the mix but also through my ears at venues where I have to stand close to the amp.. Thanks for your great video's, they've helped me with a lot of gear choices over the past few years!
I'm considering getting the noiseless joe barden humbucker pups and I wanted to know in your honest opinion would they be good for distorted hard rock and punk rock music? I ask because I also have an issue with tele buzz and I'm wondering if this fixes that problem. thanks!
thanks a lot! I'm just learning about pups a bit more and considering different guitars as well in the tele design for example the hadean 491 tele basswood guitar caught my eye. thinking if I got that, a tele for barely $100, I would change the pups to the jb modern pickups. either that or got a mim fender tele and solve all my problems for punk style music. I love the tele for everything it is. so any feed back and help in that area would be most welcome. thanks a ton!
Hi Shane, Very nice demo and playing as usual. I have noticed that your E string is fret buzzing when you hit it. Mine is doing the same but I think is more now since I have changed the fender tuning machines by fender locking tuning machine on my American special Tele, is it possible? Perhaps it is due to the fact that they are staggered. Thanks
I have never really noticed it before man. I sometimes attack pretty hard and a bit of fret buzz is okay. I'll take a look at it later and double check it. Thanks for the heads up mate. :-)
nice I've got a semi hollow les paul w/bigsby because it was the first one put into my hands by the sales person : / when what I really wanted was an Epiphone Casino. Still love it though!
Sound great Shane. It's HARD to get narrow aperture humbuckers to SOUND like single coils, but these seem to nail it! I DID however, notice some buzz in the middle setting... :o/
Thanks mate :-) I started out that way when I started playing electric guitar but a year or two in I switched to a pick. I enjoy not using a pick quite a lot these days :-).
The Joe Barden bridge pickup is responsible for one of my favorite guitar tones, on the Earth record “Hex, or Printing In the Infernal Method”. Check it out
Oh you poor dude. You got got screwed over like what I did. Someone done sold you a guitar that was made upside down and you got to play it backwards to get it to sound right. Yeah. I got ripped off like that too. I shoulda known with an name like Southpaw, there was something wrong with their guitars. Yeah, the little foreign kid must a been huffing the finish when he made all my guitars. Either that or he was working a double at his first job making national flags. All the knobs are on the wrong side and the strings are in the wrong places, just like yours. Oh... I have mutated versions of a Guild Starfire, a Godin Kingpin and a vintage(?) Greco SG righty I flipped over. Needs work. A lot of work.
